Like I was so sure we would be a very Santa household but I don't know... now that she's reaching the age where she'd "get it" I feel weird about it! Like I feel silly being all "oh santa is comning how exciting!" becasue I know santa isn't real
Growing up I enjoyed Santa and I feel he did lend some "magic" to christmas. So in theory I am pro Santa. But in practice it feels weird. MOOKS did it feel weird in the beginning but then become second nature to talk about Santa being real and all that jazz?
I don't know how to deal with these conflicting feelings
Not sure this is really a UO but the "I'm doing the santa thing and if your kid ruins it for my kid I will END YOU" "nuh uh I do what I want" is always a good debate? lol
I think it's odd when suburban streets don't have sidewalks. DH and I lived in a neighborhood where sidewalks were seemingly placed at random. I'm too used to master planned cities.
Our new neighborhood purposely doesn't have sidewalks. It's too far from town to walk anywhere, and nobody wants to shovel them in our snowy northern winters.
I hate when I comment on a FB post, and then I keep getting notifications when other people comment. I know there's a way to unfollow the post, but I'm lazy.
I hate that too! You just push the arrow in the top corner and "turn off notifications"
We only have sidewalks on one side of our street. Our house is on the street with no sidewalk, so our neighbors cut through our yard to get across and it's annoying.
I vote both sides or no sides. I would not want to shovel snow either so I can see now why some places wouldn't have them. But, assymetry bothers me.
jamaicam I can understand being anti-monarchist--especially if you are from specific parts of Great Britain. But, again, everything you said could be said about the Bushes, Clintons, Kennedys, and many many more politicians in America. And, that is even more scary to me because we still pretend to have a meritocracy. **I do think we have a meritocracy. Just one that needs some work.**
I will take the boys out on the 31st. Expect your doorbell to ring. I don't care if the city tells everyone its from 5-7 on the 26th. I'll teach the boys to TOT the right way--get out there after dinner and stay out until 8 getting as much candy as possible. Dress for the weather and say thank you at each house.
I'm impressed that William didn't stay single until 40 and then marry a 23 year old. I think Kate is pretty and seems to be a good fit for Will. I'm not sure I would want her life, but I don't live in a small country with royals. When I lived in Amman and went to school with princes, I imagined marrying one. I was young and dumb then

A lot of women I saw at the apple orchard and pumpkin patch were wearing plaid shirts. I'm glad to see that it's just trendy because I thought they were trying to be farmer chic or something.

Are you saying Santa doesn't exist? (huh)
Santa gives a big gift and fills the stocking. Santa uses paper matches the wrapping paper in the movie Polar Express. Last year he got the Polar Express Lionel train and Santa wrapped the Santa bell in a box in the same paper. Last year he really got the magic of Santa and I loved it.
I will have to pull a comment off of FB that someone responded to me when I questioned why the city I grew up decided to TOT on Thursday. It said something ridiculous that adults like to drink and party on Halloween and TOT can't be on the same night. I will post that later.
I like plaid. I makes me think of being warm and cozy, sitting by the fire and drinking hot chocolate. I want to buy some, but I don't look good in/can't pull off anything collared.
This is me too. I am thinking of buying some anyways though, even though I don't look good in it lol.

I think fall plaids look better when in a more feminine style shirt ( without a collar... Maybe a ruffle detail down the front) than a regular man's dress shirt or flannel shirt style !

laurack we just don't mention santa yet. Graham knows who he is just like he does any book or tv character...but that's it. I haven't decided how to handle Santa. Head in the sand approach works for now.

Yeah this is us. For now, I am treating him like any other character in a book. It will be several years before she realizes book/movie characters aren't real so I have awhile to figure out what to do.
