Is it normal for daycare weekly rate to be more than one parent makes in a week? Because I just got a price quote back from a daycare around here and it's more than I make. And I make more than H (not figuring in his commissions). I'm really hoping this is a more expensive place because there is no way we could possibly afford that. At all. Just kinda freaking out and didn't know where else to put this.. ugh! Why so expensive!
ETA: I'm dumb and really it's more than one paycheck per month, not monthly pay. But still, WTF? Guess I'll just eat ramen all day every day. Sigh.
After getting sick last night (at my FIL's) we are driving the 3.5 hours home. I have so far had to make h pull over once, fingers crossed I don't have to again. And c is sleeping so bedtime may be rough.

Besides what you make, it depends on if you get paid weekly, e/o week, or 2x/mo. Also what kind of deductions you have. If you contribute a lot to your 401k, you carry the health insurance, etc, then yes I can see it. Daycare at the most expensive center we saw was roughly 1/2 my take home but I am the lower earning spouse. However, I have zero deductions besides taxes.

My paycheck has the insurance, FSA, and a 3% 401k contribution (which I just started again). I get paid bi-weekly. H gets paid twice a month with no deductions but makes slightly less than me. Our bills are a good amount of our paychecks already and basically taking away more than one of our paychecks a month will leave us with nothing. We're trying to save for a house too. It wouldn't be so bad if I knew we could pay all our bills just one one income, so that half my income goes towards daycare and the rest is extra, but that's not the case at all.
We're looking into in home daycares now to save some money but I don't know how to sift through all the options and find the good ones! Plus if the DC provider gets sick or takes vacation/holidays it's hard to get off work (bank holidays are fine but not Black Friday, Christmas Eve, etc).
My friend took some family photos at a local tree farm for our xmas cards. Of course, DS fell asleep on the way and slept for an hour after we arrived. My childless friend wanted to know what would happen if we just woke him up...LOL
