I don't know if this is worth its own thread, and I don't know if my question is naive or ignorant or just stupid, but if BC didn't do all this stuff these women are claiming, and they're flat out saying "He drugged and raped me" why isn't his lawyer getting all "We're going to sue for libel" at them?

I think he's guilty too, and just hoping it will go away. I think the women speaking out have gotten too great in number for him to do any damage control by trying to pay them off. Although, I don't know if I 100% believe Janice Dickinson. I cringe at the interviews with Cosby's wife looking on lovingly at him.
I hate when beloved TV dads turn out to be real life sex offenders.

I think it's going to end up like the Tiger Woods mistresses scandal - there are going to be tons of women who come forward. Most will be telling the truth, some will be doing it for attention, but there's no real way to know for sure which is which, and too many women have had the same story at this point for it to all be made up. It sort of destroys my childhood memories of The Cosby Show, because I think he's guilty as hell.
Pretty sure he thinks if he ignores it, it will just go away. He just did an NPR interview where it came up, and he just shook his head and refused to speak until the subject was changed.
Which also has me thinking he's guilty: he can't accidentally incriminate himself if he doesn't speak about it.
I'll put my question here too - why is this all coming up again now?
A comedian recently brought it up in one of his acts: http://www.vulture.com/m/2014/10/hannibal-buress-called-bill-cosby-a-rapist.html
This is actually the nexus of my question, tbh. I mean, Cosby's never been convicted of rape, so I don't know why, if someone is calling him a rapist, his lawyers aren't going after him. On the news, news readers are always careful to refer to actions as "alleged" before a person is convicted of anything, but Hannibal Burriss isn't saying Cosby is an alleged rapist. He's saying he's a rapist. I think it's because the lawyers know that it's not slander (turns out slander is spoken, libel is written) if it's true. If that makes sense.
My question is hasn't the statute of limitations passed on all of these accusations?

I don't know the answer to this, but I can see why women would want to tell their story even if he can't be prosecuted legally. Putting myself in their shoes, it would kill me to see my rapist walking around with the world thinking he's the image of this loving, funny TV dad that he played.

All of this.
I don't believe anything Janice Dickinson says.
Also, being a beloved TV dad who turns out to be a creep seems to be a trend now.

Watch your back Alan Thicke!
Alan Thicke's mother-in-law did pay someone to murder her husband. And he is a notorious womanizer but not a criminal as far as I think!
I am not sure what to think really. I am trying to figure out why all this comes to light now. I am wondering if the first person that came about has been dealing with this for years and years and finally got up the courage to say something.
The others who knows, maybe they thought if they said something they would get no work. AT the time he was a big star (for the most part) and America's dad. Did he threaten blacklisting if they said anything, or hoping the drugs would make them not remember?
Come on BC I have been a fan since Fat Albert & Jello days what the f**k was he thinking? I hope he gets what is coming to him if he did do all of this. I do think he did it BTW.

I think Cosby has already settled with some of his accusers. That might not be true, but that is the impression I've gotten from some articles.
Anyway, the dismissal of Janice Dickinson makes me cringe a little bit. I have watched as much ANTM as anyone on the planet, I watched her reality show too. I know she is kind of kooky. But I just hate how people are automatically writing her off.

You're right, it's unfair of me to not believe her ... especially with something as serious as rape.
I find it really telling that no one is standing up for him. I can see the silence strategy for him, but no slew of praise from Hollywood friends? This has been compared to MJ's accusations, but it is striking how many people stood up for MJ and how no one is for Cosby.
I believe Janice Dickinson. She's a voice that is heard a little louder than some of the others. Speaking up IS the right thing for her to do. It also helps that she did speak out against Cosby back on 2006 on Howard Stern.

None of this is just coming to light now. Women have come forward before. Accusations have been around for years and years. People are only just paying attention now.

I didn't know that JD had spoken out before about him. I just automatically roll my eyes the second she opens her mouth. If he did assault her, she has my sympathy. He sounds like a really frightening predator.

30 years ago people would have likely blamed the victim in a lot of these cases. I mean, they were alone drinking with a man, they were asking for it, right? I can see how you wouldn't be able to hold in the secret anymore once others are talking about it now that attitudes are different* towards sexual assault victims.
*Still a lot of victim blaming going around but not like it was then

It really bothers me that people are so quick to discount Janice Dickinson because she is not the ideal victim. Bill Cosby isn't the image of what people typically think rapists are either.
The rape bandwagon....? Yeah, everyone wants on that one. : \
I believe he's guilty. I'm just not sure I believe her. She tries to keep her name out there regardless of the reason. If he did this to her I admire her for coming forward.

And this is one of the reasons victims don't speak out

While I'm not a fan of Janice, I do feel bad for her. She had a very bad childhood being molested and I'm sure that has a big impact on who she is today and why she can come across as a brash and annoying personality.
I heard her interview and the telling of her experience with BC and I believe her 100%.

I've been a first responder for sexual assault for over 20 years. It came out wrong. I meant that she has a history of lying that has been proven on countless shows. If it happened to her she's brave for coming forward. I admire that.
