It was shit stirry. I fully owned that yesterday. I was pissed at the context in which my concern was being downplayed. I also shared it as a "why" lys wasn't banned. That was the reason I was given, that's the reason I shared. So could I have couched it in better terms? Sure. Then again, I felt like y4m needed to be able to explain her rationale to the rest of the group.

Every mod makes mistakes. Every one of us has stirred the pot when we shouldn't have. We've all deleted something when we shouldn't have. We've all let something slide that probably should have been deleted. No one is perfect. But on the whole, I think we have a pretty good group of mods here who do a great job of balancing everything and get it right most of the time. I don't want any of them to be replaced. I also like that our mods don't always agree on everything. I think our debates make us better.
I was responding to the "we're so diverse" line. We aren't.
No I know, I didn't find fault with anything you said, it's just that your post made me curious about our representation and I didn't want to just come out and say, "Hey Asians, stop hiding!" lol
I wish I was Asian, specifically South Asian. I was dubbed an "inside-out coconut" once in college (white on the outside, brown on the inside). That made my life.
I guess I'm surprised at people's surprise at the number of lurkers. There may be this mentality that we're like a rather large dinner party which gets a small share of party crashers, when we're far more like a concert being put on at Central Park.
This is going to sound snarky, and I honestly do not intend that, but the surprise at the number of lurkers (and my initial reaction was one of surprise as well) is on the same plane as people forgetting just how vulnerable they are when they put stuff out there in the internet. I think it's easy to think we are somehow cloistered from the rest of the planet because we see the same people here day after day, but there is nothing protecting this board. Facebook, which gets a privacy rating of negative two bajillion, has stronger privacy and personal control settings than PB.
This is not to criticize PB, as that is the nature of the beast. It is, however, a good reminder to be careful with our information.
This is a whole lot of sturm and drang over shit that is so very rarely a problem. So pixy can be a little shall we say dramatic as a mod. That's like Tuesday. Or more like Easter. Comes around once a year, spawns a bunch of threads, and we get ham out of it or at least we should get ham. I'd like it more if we got ham. I miss ham. I didn't get any for Thanksgiving this year.
And so Y4M doesn't think we're amazing. She's a global mod for the entirety of pandce, not our little corner solely. This is also something that's like Easter, rarely an issue, comes up once a year maybe and lots of people don't find it nearly as meaningful as a small amount of the GBCN population.
This whole calling everyone to the carpet, crying down the curtains, half hearted threats to leave/step down is just . . . idk, maybe because I haven't been here as it was developing but reading over it hours later . . .
No, people need to stop. Pixy is just fine as mod. Y4M is just fine as global mod. Our criteria for banning, particularly in light of the fact that there are ways to easily get around a banning is just fine too.
As a side note, the primarily reason I don't support banning lys is because she's an active member on another board. It would be like people on CEP calling to ban Toledo because some people feel like she just comes over here to roll her eyes at us. (Sorry, toledo, it was the best analogy I could come up with. You're definitely a more substantive poster than Lys by miiiiles.)

Can we go back to fighting about food now?
If I wasn't having DH'S baby, I'd want to have yours.

you can have 2 people's babies at the same time. this is what you read about when you have twins. ammiright origami? (whom i've tagged more in 24 hours than i have in my whole time on these boards)
Someone referred to eating a burrito without a tortilla. And fuckstick was like, "Uhhh, that's not a burrito." Shenanigans ensued.
Uhm is this where this devolves into a food fight because yeah, that's not a burrito. Mexican (or Tex-Mex/Taco Bell/Whatever) food is defined by your choice of delivery. No tortilla, no burrito. HOW IS THIS HARD?
I served it. I boxed up pounds of it for to go dinners but I didn't get any mother fucking ham for myself. My holiday felt inadequate. I'm going to cry.
Speaking of ham, I feed everyone at the CB sugar cured ham because I totally forget to ask people when they order shit if they want sugar cured or country ham so I pick sugar cured instead of going back to ask them. I'm totally not supposed to do that but I give zero fucks. I've also yet to have anyone complain about it.

Is this a gluten free thing?
Atkins?
Whom shall I blame for this fuckery??
You can blame me.
I'm allergic to wheat. And not in a hipster/intolerant kind of way, but in a "I break out into hives and my face and hands swell" kind of way.
I have seen the err of my ways and will not refer to my Mexican dish of choice as a tortilla-less burrito any longer.

At least some good has come from the last two days.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
Sturm und drang - 1. a literary and artistic movement in Germany in the late 18th century, influenced by Jean-Jacques Rousseau and characterized by the expression of emotional unrest and a rejection of neoclassical literary norms.
2. Turbulent, emotional stress.
Not to be confused with Durmstrang, the wizardry school where Viktor Krum, seeker for the Bulgarian National Quidditch team, attended.
You guys. Sharing similar opinions is not groupthink. Groupthink means we're all bobbleheads nodding along to one loud idea. Groupthink is not a compliment or neutral term. Many of us share liberal ideologies and, thus, come to similar conclusions on a variety of topics. But virtually every response in the really good political threads offers some nuance of "and here's how I came to that similar conclusion." We are a critically-thinking bunch of women. Please stop using groupthink like it's not offensive as hell.
YES.
I also loathe the term circle jerk and several posters here use it and it's always like nails on a chalkboard for me.
Navel gazing? Oh, and for me, it's 'le sigh'. You are not all FRENCH, dammit!
If this board loses Pixy so that the admins can continue to defend a troll and insult the rest of the board as groupthinking sheep, this board will have lost a lot it cannot get back. That's all I'm sayin'.
Say what now? And, sorry, but the post of a board no one is privy to is no good. I won't die on the hill, but come ON now. Groupthink is not always insulting.
Not one person has asked Pixy to step down. Not one. Not a reg, not a lurker, not a global.
I didn't say anyone has. But she's already stated she will likely step down as a moderator.
All I'm saying is that if the board loses Pixy so that the admins can continue to fight for Lys like some sort of noble quest, the board will have lost a substantial contributor and instead kept a troll.
We would only lose Pixy if she chose to step down. Even with the posting of another private interaction, no one is asking this. Please stop acting like people are out for her.)(general)
To clarify, people can say things about pixy's ACTIONS AS A MOD. If people can criticize y4m for making her "group-thinky" statement, then why can't they criticize pixy for sharing it (or doing any other mod action)? I DO NOT SUPPORT running around saying stuff like, "y4m is a terrible admin and kicks puppies for fun" or "pixy is the worst moderator evar!" No. That's why I mentioned de-personalizing criticism. But it should be OK to say, "I disagree with the action that [insert admin or mod name here] took because of XYZ reason." That's it. The board doesn't work if admins and mods can act with no debate or criticism about said actions.
