I put on the food channel because it's calming to him, give him kissies and then tell him I'll be back soon (bye bye Barn-barn, be a good boy, love you, back soon, smoochies)
I always tell both of them "Bye Babies, see you later, be good girls for papa"(DH works from home). Not weird at all, I think it would be weird to NOT say bye to them! lol
Yup! I give them a hug and tell them to have a good day. Usually they are in the living room with the kids when I leave so I go right down the line and do all 5 at once, lol
When I leave for work it's about 50/50 whether my kitty is downstairs with me or still asleep with my husband. So this morning I kissed them both and told them to have a good day, yesterday my kitty watched me leave and I told him to "have a great day, take care of the house, and I'll see you after work"
When I come home he comes running to greet me. I always give him scratches while I ask about his day and tell him how much I missed him.
On days I get home before DH, I greet them with "Well, hello, All Of You! ", since they usually all come investigate the door opening (my cats are all weirdly social, they like saying hello, lol).
If somebody doesn't come out, I'll ask whoever shows up "Okay, where's your brother/sister?" And then go find them to make sure nobody decided to run away and join the circus while I was out.

"Bye Bo, be a good Bo. Mommy loves you. Have a good day."
One time I was running late for work and I started pulling out of my driveway and I realized that I didn't give him a proper goodbye, so I had to go back in and tell him I loved him.
Yes, I always say something, but it varies. Sometimes I tell girl-kitty that she's in charge of the living room and that boy-kitty is in charge of the bedroom. Sometimes it's just that I love them and will be back soon.
Regardless of what I say, I generally get that blank "you're not funny" cat stare.
If I'm leaving for more than a day, there's a big thing with lots of pats and kisses.
The boy cat is usually at the door when I leave in the morning (trying to make a run for it), and I tell him to hold down the fort and to be nice to his sister.
You two be good, or at least pretend to be good. Then I tell them I'll be home for lunch or if it won't be until after work, because I'm sure they care and know the difference.

I tell her that mommy loves her and will miss her but mommy needs to make money to buy dog bones and then I tell kitty to take good care of his sister. Sometimes then I tell him that he has a big responsibility for such a little kitty.

I make sure to kiss them each goodbye, then as I walk out the door, yell "I love everyone in this house!" before I close the door. every time. If I forget, I have to go back in and do it.
"Be. Good. PLEASE don't pee on the floor again, I won't be gone long".
Dottie has some major separation issues, and will spite pee on the floor. We can't kennel her - as she hurts herself trying to get out (both the metal bars kind and the plastic airline crates. She'd chew through a cloth one in no time). And since I'm not working, she's not on a good schedule. Once I'm working she'll be used to being left every morning, plus she'll get daycare once or twice a week. This coming and going for errands throws her through a loop.
You two be good, or at least pretend to be good. Then I tell them I'll be home for lunch or if it won't be until after work, because I'm sure they care and know the difference.
I always tell them if DH or I will be home first and how soon to expect either one of us. Because obviously this impacts their incredibly busy schedules.
I always explain to them where I am going and when I'll be back - so on work days I say something like "I hope you have a wonderful day baby dogs, we have to go to work, I wish you could come with me because I'll miss you all day! But work isn't much fun anyway so you'll have a good day being home. We'll see you tonight. I love you!" (this is all while I'm putting on shoes and whatever).
If I'm just running out I'll say something like "I'm just going to the store, I'll be back soon with treats!" or "I'm just going to pick up your daddy, I'll be back so soon you won't even miss me!".
When I get home from work, I usually ask them how their day was. LOL.
