I really hate when people drive big ass vehicles and then can't part them! If you are going to drive it, learn to park it, or sell the thing for something you can drive. My FIL takes like 3 attempts to park his truck and so do soooo many other people with large vehicles.
MIL drives a huge suburban or a huge ass pickup truck and is a BOSS at parking it. I can't even believe it.

Those fuel efficient spots are super annoying. At least the expectant mom/ mom of young babies/ handicapped spots have valid reasons behind it. It's not like it is actually going to incentivize someone to change their mind and buy a car based on the available parking at the grocery store.
That is partially the goal. If you can't ever find a parking spot you might think about it when you go purchase your car. It doesn't always require hybrids either. Some cars/small SUVs qualify. They just want you to think about it when purchasing new vehicles and possibly consider a vehicle you wouldn't have before. It works better in busy cities where parking is hard to find.

They have a list of "meanest" vehicles. I can't believe some people get under 15 mpg!
Well there's a good reason not to buy a Lamborghini - it gets 10 mpg! Phew. Cross that off my list
But yeah I don't understand why someone would buy a car with such terrible mileage even if they're rich enough to not care about gas prices. Rich people are affected by pollution also
Some of us bought our vehicles before energy efficient became a thing (meaning that car companies actually cared about it) and gas was under $1.40 a gallon. My sedan gets 18 mpg on a good day, typically I average 16 mpg with highway driving. It has a huge engine. This car was my compromise to H wanting to replace his two seater sports car (which also got the same gas mileage and that was from the 80's)with a truck.
Both cars are 12.5 years old, the next round of vehicles will be fuel efficient. Do I get brownie points that the other car still gets 36 mpg at 192K miles?
Not all minivan drivers are assholes! I always park in the lines.
Thank you for parking in the lines!
I know not all minivan drivers are assholes. It is just an excuse to H whenever he teases about buying a minivan. He knows that I don't like sitting high up. I once drove an SUV while my car was being repaired and I felt like I was sitting higher than my coupe's roof. I hated it, I much rather be on the floor.
I used to hate sitting up so high, but now I love it. I can see so much and feel more in control of my surroundings.
Yertle the turtle, oh marvelous me, for I am the ruler of all that I see. (Minus the dictatorial overtones).

DH's dream car would be a gas guzzling truck, probably an F150. That's not in the budget right now or the foreseeable future, so he can just dream about it.

I drive a big ol truck and always park between the lines on the first try 99% of the time. You got to know your vehicle people! I've seen people who drive civics and park like assholes or take 30 tries to get into a parking spot. As you say... if you're going to drive it, know your vehicle!!!!

That's what I drive! An f150. The gas isn't as awesome as a car but way you better than our jeep liberty! I get about 1100 km (683 miles) per tank. For a big ol truck that's pretty decent!

I'm not talking about older cars. I mean people who buy these new fancy cars with insanely low gas mileage

That is pretty decent . DH would be so jealous. He points them out all the time when we are driving. He used to ask if he could get a truck when he turned 30, but that is in May, so nope.
I love Red Bull. In my party girl days it was my drink of choice with Ketel One and a splash of cran.
I used to drink Red Bull and chain smoke before work to get me going. It was amazing.
I've never parked in a handicapped spot but I have wished for it when taking L to school in the rain... Toting E in her car seat across the parking lot with an umbrella and a toddler.
I think people who drive Lamborghinis don't drive them for every day purposes? I won't lie.... I would love to have a pretty fancy, fast sports car.

Yep. When I have to drive H's 2500HD Crew Cab I'm much more selective about spots than with my Mustang. Some spots are just never going to happen with that turning radius and vehicle length, and I always park between the lines. I'm super aware of how large and in the way that truck is and tend to park further away so lessen the chance of it taking me multiple attempts to get in or out of a spot.
Parking things like this drive me nuts. People parking in handicap spots when they shouldn't , parking in front of hydrants, being overly aggressive in kids, whatever. I get that I come from a different perspective since I don't /have never driven, but it all seems so entitled and lazy ( I am NOT talking about anyone here specifically, since I know none of us are entitled or lazy ! Trust). I mean, we all need to appreciate the basic miracle that we have working bodies. So what if it takes a minute longer to get in? It's called legs - use them! Bad weather? You won't melt and neither will your kids. The reliance on driving everywhere is nutty to me

to be totally clear, it was my ex who parked in front of the hydrant. i was young and in a super controlling relationship and even felt silenced on small things like where to park. dixee circa now would NEVER do that!

There's a guy in my neighborhood who drives his Maserati around to run errands and stuff. I think he plays for the Cubs.

I said I wasn't talking about people here! Lol I live in Boston, land of asshole drivers. I'm talking about THEM

I am using bereavement today to help my dad get stuff ready for the memorial service this weekend. This is the second time in a year that I have lied to work about who died so I could use bereavement. (I am out of PTO since Noah keeps getting fevers) We are going to run out of grandparents who have already died.
When I was working we had to show the obituary.
They have never made us do that. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they asked. I can show them the obituary. he is old enough to be my grandfather and they don't mention much in it about his family. and while he is not technically my grandfather he might as well have been.

Boxing Day should be a national holiday. My husband has to work this year (as a software consultant, nothing actually necessary for people's safety or well being).
Two weekends ago nanny family watched J so DH and I could do some shopping. The whole deal was for me to reciprocate the following weekend. Well nanny mom got so crazed at work that she didn't want to do it last weekend, and asked to do it tomorrow. She asked last Wednesday. She hasn't brought it up since, and now I kinda don't want to do it. I haven't brought it up because I don't want to remind her, but knowing her she'll ask me tonight. Of course I won't back out, but this week has been SO freaking long that the last thing I want to do is work an extra day. I think this belongs in the randoms but I'm too lazy to switch over.

We have a 2012 F150 and it gets between 18 and 21 mpg, depending on the driving conditions.

I get it off as "St. Stephen's Day." Thank you, St. S, whoever you are!
My husband has to work (as an investment banker, which I don't think anyone would argue is necessary )
