Hi ladies, I hope you'll let me join the fun. I was on my local Knot/Nest board way way back, and moved with them to a private pro-board where I became much more active. After signing up here a few weeks ago, I decided that this new makeup thread is the perfect time for me to jump in to posting on GBCN.
I've gone on a bit of a makeup spree over the past six months. I went from owning no palettes and just a smattering of makeup (mostly drugstore items) to owning enough prestige makeup that I became platinum at Ulta (I love Sephora more, but there is an Ulta close enough to my work that I can run over during lunch, which is great therapy when things are hectic).
I'll post some reviews of my favorites:
Foundation: Prescriptives All Skins Mineral Makeup in Level 1 Cool. I have loved this for years, since it was still available in store (prior to 2010?). It is sweat-proof, great in high humidity, and comes in a color that matches my very pale skin with cool (red/blue) undertones.
Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed. I have worn this for about 2 years now, and love it. It lasts and the color works well for me. However, I have not dabbled into any other blushes. I probably should, shouldn't I?
Highlighter: BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl. This is a more recent purchase (a month or two ago). It's subtle (not too glittery), but a little goes a long way. I'd like to try the pressed power version, but need to swatch and figure out what color works for me.
Eye Brows: Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown. Also something I purchased a month or two ago, but I don't know how I lived without it. My brows look so much better with this. I just bought two more when Ulta had their 20% off coupon.
Eye Primer: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in Original. This was game-changer for me. I just thought I couldn't wear eyeshadow, because it used to become a creased mess in a half hour (maybe an hour with a drugstore primer). It dries quickly and keeps my shadow in place for the whole day.
Eye Liner: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Emerald. I just bought this a week ago on a lark, as I thought it would be fun to try something colorful, and they didn't have anything in the purple family. Oh my goodness, I might actually be able to do a winged eye liner with this! The color dries quickly and stays put, and it makes a very fine line. I now want to try other colors.
Katy. She's from the Bay Area. She's funny and not pretentious. She does pretty dramatic eye looks, but I love her.
I stumbled upon her a while back when looking up a specific product, and I subscribed immediately. Her looks are definitely dramatic but she is easy to follow and I modify to suit my taste.

I watched her bronze eye look. She wasn't too bad to listen to. You're right, she called out that she used too much concealer/highlighter. It was refreshing.
I'm trying to decide how to use a Sephora giftcard. I'm trying to choose between the semi sweet choc bar palette, double exposure, or a Bobbi Brown palette, as I don't have any of her products yet. Would anyone like to help me decide?
Don't K ow about semi sweet or Bobbi brown but I pretty much love double exposure. I posted arm swatches back in MUT 3.0
Not sure if these have been talked about before, but I recently started using them and O.M.G. they are my new HG.I never seem to get enough sleep at night, and most mornings I wake up with dark circles and tired, puffy looking eyes. These, followed by a little concealer, and I'm good to go!

I cleaned out and organized my makeup storage (a four drawer sterilite thing that stands 2.5 ft tall). That thing is FULL. I just started buying makeup last april. Lol I have something like sixteen palettes and one (Tartelette) on its way. My new years resolution is to buy nothing this year that isn't a replacement of an empty. My latest empty is my deluxe sample of Dr Brandt pores no more primer. I will definitely buy it again but I wanted to get the Becca ever matte primer this time, so it's coming with Tartelette. I have nothing color-wise that's even anywhere near being used up so I have no idea what I'm going to set as my MUT empty challenge
What palettes are y'all eyeing in the $20-50 range?
I just bought Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection - link. It hasn't arrived yet, but it has awesome reviews. And the colors are really pretty.
I am not allowed to buy any makeup for a while, but the next new thing I get is going to be the Lorac Pro Palette. I know this is old news but I covet it.
Right now I'm obsessed with Too Faced Boudoir Eyes.
Other products I'm digging include Armani Luminous Silk foundation (but man, is it pricey!) and Benefit Dandelion.
I'm going to jump in early this time since I got lost in the previous threads. I'm looking for a good eye cream to help with under eye puffiness and the fine lines I'm getting around my eyes (I'm 32). Day, night, or both. Any suggestions?
Day to day I tend to stick with neutral colors. I'd like challenges to get me out of my comfort zone!
These are my daily favorites: Foundation/Powder: BareMinerals Powder Foundation, Original Primer: ELF Primer Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface Eyes: UD primer (Original), Too Faced Neutral Eye Shadow Collection, Hourglass Mascara Lips: Usually just Chap Stick topped with Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. I need to branch out more in this area. I feel like a clown with lots of color on my lips.
Also, anyone want to recommend their train case for make up storage? Right now all my stuff is in a bathroom drawer and completely unorganized. My regular stuff is on top and I tend to forget about things I don't use frequently. I want to get organized so I can see what I have.
I have a short list of must-haves that I need to pick up soon:
Eye shadow Primer - I was using Lorac but I don't love it. I need to find something better. Laura Mercier Secret concealer - My absolute favorite product.
I'm waiting for my Buxom lipstick duo, cream eye liner and Too Faced Natural eye shadow palette. I also just received Bare Minerals Sultry eye kit. I like the champagne shadow, but I'm nervous to wear the other dark shadow. I need to play around with it some more before I'm comfortable with it.

I adore this palette! It was the only one I brought with me to Hawaii last summer for my sister's wedding, and I was impressed by how many looks I got out of it.

I got this a few months ago and love it! It has become my every day palette.

I had asked about bareMinerals new Bare Skin foundation in the last thread. I went ahead and got it and I'm so glad I did. It feels lightweight but has good medium coverage. I didn't get the "special" (sold separately) brush -- I just use my fingers or my Beauty Blender.
In the spirit of sharing empties: I think I forgot to mention before that I used up the Jouer anti-aging moisture primer and already repurchased. I finished Bobbi Brown extreme party mascara and am not sure whether or not I'll repurchase. I recently bought more Bobbi Brown corrector too.
Hair products I've used and repurchased: Davines Love shampoo & conditioner for harsh & frizzy hair, Beauty Protector protect & detangle leave-in conditioner, Living Proof instant texture mist.
Skincare: I need to get more (again) of my Paula's Choice skin recovery cleanser and Clinique super rescue antioxidant night moisturizer. I also just repurchased the Paula's Choice lip & body treatment balm.
I'm back! Someone asked in the other thread if spouses noticed the amount of makeup they have. We'll DW and I have never shared a bathroom because she says I have too many products.
This is my current sent up. Aside from the chocolate bar palatte and the stuff from the Brooke Shields MAC collection, this was mostly all pre MUT stuff.
I have a horrible time with colors because I am a redhead. I have a ton of stuff but most of it ends up being used once or twice and never again. I can't wait to see what I get sucked into.
