Tinted moisturizer, mascara, a neutral eye shadow (like Naked basics), eye liner, a basic/neutral blush and a go to lipstick. You can be done in five minutes (with some practice).
This. All this.
Cheap tinted moisturizer I love is the Garnier BB cream. I can throw it on without even glancing in a mirror if I need to. Naked basics great for eye a basic eye, or grab one of the Too Faced palettes if you want to try a bit more color, they have a little more pop without being overwhelming, and little cards with tutorials on how to apply the colors.
All you have to add is eye-liner and blush and a neutral lip color to your repertoire, and do it more often. It's just practice really. Once you have those down you can decide if that's enough, or if you want to make more of an adventure out of it.
That's a good palette too.
Oh taratru, naked on the run might fit your need. Would be good to have for at home and easy to travel with.
Does anyone know if Vice will be available at Sephora again? I want it so badly, and Ulta doesn't have locations or ship to Canada.
I'm excited to be posting in this thread finally!! I'll have to post my makeup stash so I have some street cred over here ?
I hope for your sake that Vice 3 does come back in stock. It's an awesome palette, much loved around here. Nah, you don't need street cred over here, just start posting. Like I said, I didn't have any makeup whatsoever at the beginning of April 2014. Now I'm a palette hoarder. LOL
You palette hoarder like its a bad thing! Nothing wrong at all with it ?. I might post a pic of my stash later today. Makeup is something that makes me all sorts of happy!

1). Find and use a more environmentally friendly way of removing makeup. Right now I use those makeup remover wipes and I feel guilty every time I use them. 2). Get more comfortable with contouring. I have Benefit Watts Up for a highlighter, and an NYX bronzer, but honestly, I can't tell the difference between when I've applied them and when I haven't. I think maybe I'm using too light of hand. 3). Figure out how to use pressed powder without making a colossal mess.
Oh man, these Makeup Geek shadows look AMAZING and got a rave review. Supposedly the swatches are one swipe without primer. Why oh why did I tell myself I wasn't allowed to buy makeup until April?
I've been eyeballing these since the colors were revealed - especially Flamethrower - but they are so shinny and metallic, ergo, not my thing. I really wish I could rock darker shimmers.

I haven't been by to participate in awhile but I'm back and excited for 4.0!
My basic loves:
-laura mercier tinted moisturizer. I use it in porcelain, and I love it. A little goes a long way and I can get such a smooth finish when I pair it with...
-Tarte smooth operator finishing powder. This stuff is my jam. It just makes everything look so smooth and put together.
-bareminerals 5-in-1 cream eyeshadow. I use this as a primer actually. I have pretty oily eyelids (despite having barely combination skin- like, I get a little oil in two spots). Anyway, this stuff works wonders. I alternate between soft linen and elegant taupe.
-tarte blush. Always and forever I will be a tarte Blush girl. I got the blush palette for Christmas and I swoon.
-anastasia brow powder/brow fix/clear brow gel. Anastasia gets the job done. I have Maybelline brow drama and its okay, but the powder and brush in anastasia allows me to really get in and make my brows look even and clean.
-it cosmetics bye bye undereye- this is the first concealer I've found that actually covers my dark circles without caking on OR needing a lot. A dab will do ya.
I'm all over the place with lip color and generally just wear a tinted balm. Black honey balm is pretty fantastic.
MUT 3.0 was my Everest and...I didn't even make base* camp.
So, time to lay it all out: haven't changed up my makeup regime in 10 YEARS.
Here are my tried and trues:
BB sheer finish pressed powder in pale yellow Nars Orgasm blush BB Bone, Navajo, Heather Mauve, Smokey Charcoal(?) eye shadows Smashbox O-Gloss Dior Show mascara
I DON'T EVEN HAVE A NAKED PALETTE.
::waits to see how many CEP MU laws I've broken::
*MU PUN
I fit right in with this routine. I've been using BB cream shadows for about 6 years. Since I had a make up lesson from them for my wedding. I started with Bone, went to Navajo when it was discontinued and the same with Heather Mauve. Orchid was the closest match for a while. I just checked and it looks like that one's gone and Heather is back? I did switch it up last time. I wanted to be a bit more adventurous so I got Beach Honey as my light color. I definitely in a rut, but I don't like anything but a purple shade on my eyes and I don't know if I can go back to powder after using the creams. They stay on so much better for me.
I didn't even know Heather Mauve had been discontinued!

Are there any recs for a more greens and golds palette? I have browns/neutrals covered, and purples which look nice with my hazel eyes, but I'd like to try out some greens every once in awhile. Most palettes don't seem to have them, or if they do it's only one shade of green.

My basic loves:
-tarte blush. Always and forever I will be a tarte Blush girl. I got the blush palette for Christmas and I swoon.
I got it as well and I am in love. The staying power is amazing. On Christmas night I was drunkly making my parents compliment me on how well my blush was still visable lololol. They had given me the palette so I just wanted them to know it was money well spent.
I've been eyeballing these since the colors were revealed - especially Flamethrower - but they are so shinny and metallic, ergo, not my thing. I really wish I could rock darker shimmers.
I've seen your face! You so could...
You're so sweet! I really do look a bit jacked with super shimmer, though. It's an unfortunate byproduct of having super crepe-y eyelids.
What do you guys use to rinse your face? Every time I wear a lot of makeup in a week, my face breaks out horribly. I have an acne solutions foundation but I'm not a fan of it because it makes me look like a ghost in pictures. I always wash my makeup off at night but it never fails that I'm broken out for the next couple days after wearing it.
Also, I bought Brow Wiz and I looooooove it. My brows are pretty and filled it but it didn't take look and didn't go power brows on me either. So I'm totally happy right now.
Brow Wiz or Dipbrow?
I did the math on the LORAC Unzipped blush and although I love the look of it, it is outrageously expensive per ounce given that I would never use the lipstick and that I already own a ton of blush. heyjude, what was the elf dupe you posted? If I feel compelled to play, I may give that a whirl instead.
Dipbrow, sorry. And it went on nicely. I can see how you could go overboard but you'd have to do it on purpose imo. It's easier to apply dipbrow reasonably than it is to apply red or deep burgundy blush if that helps lol.

I so should have bought that when I had the chance. Hopefully Tarte will put another one out next Xmas.

I think you need to find out what you're having a reaction to and find products that don't have it. You shouldn't be broken out like that.
ohmygoodness, have you tried using an eye primer under powder shadows? I know I avoided eyeshadow completely for years because it always creased on me. Primer is the only reason why I wear eye makeup these days. As for powder purples, Laura Mercier makes some of the most beautiful purple shadows ai've seen. Her African Violet is definately worth checking out.

I'm prone to breakouts too. Using Cetaphil products for cleansing and moisturizing has really made a difference for me. I also use witch hazel as a toner and tea tree oil to treat pimples.

It sounds like you need to test out some new foundations. I used to have this same problem but after finding the right foundation I don't have that problem anymore. In fact, I only get the occasional pimple anymore. What are you wearing currently? Skin tone/Condition? Oily/Dry? Maybe we can come up with a rec for you.

My guess is that you're having a reaction to an ingredient in your makeup. I think carrotsmakemefat has the same problem, so she may have some suggestions for how to start figuring out what you're reacting to.

I had a dream that I posted pictures of my makeup stash and you guys laughed at me because it was so meager.
I do want to fill it out a little more, though. I want to aquire some non-neutral eyeshadows and a fan brush at least, and next try out some tinted moisturizer/bb creams and maybe eventually work my way over to more eyeliners, a tarte blush or two, and some dabbling in different brands and types of lip stuff. It's good to have goals, right?
@helenabonhamcarter - I love UD'S Perversion mascara. I used to be loyal to Cover Girl because it works well and washed off easily. But after getting a sample of Perversion I was sold. So if you aren't totally in love with a palatte, that would be my UD rec.
Maybe it's me, but the MUG foiled colors looked like circus colors. I'm excited for the formula, but much like her other colors, I want something a bit less garish.
I had a similar reaction to many of the shades, but I also tend to avoid "fun" colors so I wasn't sure if my reaction was fair. I only see one or two colors in that group that I could wear with regularity.
