Both of our spontaneous pregnancies (one ended in m/c, the other is our current pregnancy) were conceived using absolutely no contraceptives. For the first one it wasn't so much accidental as I don't (didn't???) ovulate regularly at all, we were already headed to IF support and weren't trying NOT to get pregnant - maybe it shouldn't count as accidental, but it wasn't expected.
This pregnancy was accidental in the sense that we weren't planning on having kids this close together but we knew #1 required intervention and figured #2 would to. But to be completely honest, we totally had sex on day 14 of my cycle with no protection. So maybe it shouldn't count as accidental either?
Normally we'd use NFP or P&P... But I was well past my "ovulation" window or so I thought. Basically it was cycle day like 32. DH did not pull since we were well into the "safe" time but I was not charting at the time..just guessing based on prior cycles. Apparently I ovulated 2 wks late because when I went in for the dating U/S it was 2wks behind where it should have been based on my LMP. OB prepared me for a miscarriage...but nope, she's 5.5yrs old. So I just ovulated that much later & the safe zone, not so safe..lol. Funny since we had to really try many months for all my other kids.

I was charting to avoid after being told that I needed to stop using hormonal BC (despite using it for 10 years prior with no issues) due to a discovered clotting disorder. TTA worked for 6 months and it didn't work the 7th month because I thought we were probably safe having sex without a condom 5 days before O but nope.
Long story short, I selected the choice about using BC imperfectly.

With DS, I was charting, but I only charted to keep track of my very long cycles, and see if I might actually be ovulating (I have PCOS). So it was more of "oh look at that, I must have o'd... And hmm, we had sex right around then...."
I voted no BC. we weren't really trying, but figured it probably wouldn't happen, and if it did, cool.
We threw caution to the wind and skipped the condom exactly once very early in my cycle (~6 days before ovulation), figuring pregnancy was possible but very unlikely. We proceeded to use a condom every time after that for the rest of the cycle, up until I got a positive pregnancy test. I am hesitant to call it an accidental pregnancy, though, since we knew it was possible and had sex anyway (and had been on the fence about a third).

I don't consider pull out methods to be birth control that can be done perfectly. I think it is somewhat generous to actually consider it birth control at all.

I find this story very scary. Yeah for you but I would also wouldn't worry about getting KU on day 32
I was using NFP and we were stupid. I knew I was approaching the ovulation window but thought I still had a couple of days before we had to worry. We were in the shower and too lazy to get out and grab a condom. Then I ovulated early. Oops.
Am I the only one who thinks we should separate "accidental" pregnancies from accidental pregnancies? "We were gonna start TTC in a few months anyway" is way different from "we're officially done, but we were both really horny and neither of us like using a condom".

Yeah no kidding, over half these stories are not accidental....
PERFECT USE still 18% over 10 years vicmo! Get excited. October 2015.
Actually H and I are celebrating our 10th year together next week and a good chunk of that has been condoms only. Take that, statistics!
We have been together for 18.5 years. Five of those years were condoms only, and nine were BCP. We have never had an accidental pregnancy unless you count the one time we said "fuck the condom."
I was charting to avoid (badly, as it turns out) and using condoms...most of the time. Pretty sure DD is a result of laziness and thinking it was a "safe" day.
We had two weekends where we didn't use birth control. I have two children. We were okay with getting pregnant but were still like huh, that was unexpected because based on ovulation those little swimmers had to really want it.
I've read multiple places that pull and pray is very effective if done properly. This time we knew it was not properly. We've used it for 7 years though and worked out well.

First time a condom was used every time in the window. We think perfectly but I guess there is a chance it was not perfect. We drank a lot around that time (2 week anniversary cruise)
the second time the condom did fail. So I took the Mornong after pill. I still got pregnant.
I'm sitting here nursing the result of the one time H and I didn't use a condom during my ovulation window. We thought we were safe, but I O'd really late in my cycle that month for some reason. It was the 2nd month following my last m/c and I guess my cycles weren't regulated from that.

This won't jinx me, right? I have an IUD!
Well technically I've been having sex for 15yrs with zero P&P failures. Our 1 "accident' there was no pull. I'm not super fertile though because it took 6mo, 11mo & 11mo of lots & lots of unprotected sex to get a BFP for the other 3. If I really, really didn't want to get pg, we'd be way more careful or H would get a V. Condoms worry me much more, I've had them break.
I've never had an accidental pregnancy, which is shocking considering how often I utilized pull and pray as BC. And how many condom failures I've had another times. I got pregnant very easily the four times I've been pregnant so it's not because of infertility issues. I feel incredibly lucky. Now that DH is snipped I feel like I can generally safely assume I won't be having any unintended pregnancies in the future either.
Yeah, not pregnant but I'm kind of WTF at P&P as birth control?!
Did you guys not have sex ed? I mean... huh. there isn't anything wrong with it, but if you do it, at least don't consider it reliable BC, because sperm dont only happen at the finish.
How many of the boys were actually paying attention in that class?
The girls were obviously taking notes and gunning for an A.
This bio major who was also very good at math was apparently very bad at calculating when ovulation actually occurs.
This pregnancy was more a surprise not an accident. I had just had a miscarriage, which we were trying for, and hadn't even gotten a period yet. we had sex once about 3 weeks after my miscarriage, we were both drunk from a wedding and that was all it took I guess because 2 weeks later I took a test when my boobs started hurting and got a positive. We were super surprised since it took 2 years and fertility meds to get pregnant with DD.
