I wonder if Netflix is judging my parenting, LOL. DS is sick, so he's been parked on the couch watching Curious George for 3 days. I've noticed that after 3 episodes (so ~70 minutes) the screen goes black and says "are you still watching?" And you have to click "ok." DH and I binge-watched 4 HOURS of TV last night, and Netflix never asked if we were "still watching." Does Netflix think DS is watching too much TV?!
It always asks me after the third episode so if it's judging your Curious George, it's also judging my Friends watching!
We had a very "2" morning, and I need a drink now.
I am seriously contemplating spending $200 on bedding for DD's big girl room. I may be insane.
I don't think this is insane. If it's for her big girl room she'll use it for a long time. PIP?
Enablers!! I love you guys (heart) I am just worried that in a year she'll want Frozen/Doc McStuffins/whatever instead of what I pick out...but maybe we can get the books too to force her to get into it?? changedname, did you see this?

I don't think that's insane at all. We switched DS to a toddler bed, and even after keeping his crib sheets we spent probably $200. Let's see, 2 cotton throw blankets ($60), an organic junior-sized pillow ($50), two junior (hard to find) pillow cases ($25) = $135. And that was random non-matching, not cute stuff. Throw in the child-proofing supplies and we easily hit $200. I beg what you have picked out is much cuter. PIP!
ETA: I was typing the same time as your PIP. That is super cute and worthy of $200 /gavel
I'm going to Gymboree today in the hopes that my store will have lots of clearance stuff left. I have gymbucks to spend, but I'm not in love with the baby girl line (DD doesn't fit into kid girl yet), and I don't want to stock up too much for DS until I know how big he'll be.
The rumor on gymbofriends is that the new lines will be marked down tomorrow, so if anybody has gymbucks that they want to spend on new line stuff, maybe hold off another day. If I can't find clearance stuff, I might wait until tomorrow to see if that's true and buy DD some stuff from the kid girl line and hope that it works for next spring. I really like the blue/yellow kid girl line; I'm just hesitant to buy stuff too far ahead now after DD's crazy growth spurt that made 2T only fit her for about 3 months.

Weird! Apparently Jericho, a post-apocalyptic drama show from 2006 set in Kansas, doesn't warrant Netlifx judging?
AND with another first name (I think it's weird to have both of the names start with the same letter)
OK this is one of my issues. Our top/only girl name, Sylvia, starts with an S like Sebastian, but we mostly call him Bas and the two full names don't sound alike so I feel like maybe it wouldn't bug me. Or maybe it would?
I think it wouldn't bother me, since you call him Bas, but I can see your dilemma.
Oh, the things we worry about with our hypothetical children...

My sister and I have same letter names (actually, same 3 initials, pre-marriage). Both of us have "L" names with 2 syllables.
They sound totally different - similar to your example above. I think it's a totally reasonable option to consider.
A rare day at home while DS is a daycare. I vomited a bunch of times last night. I was too nauseous for dinner, so I don't think it was something I ate.
I mostly feel better now, but wasn't willing to risk infecting my coworkers in case it's a bug. So it looks like me & my DVR have some catching up to do.
I was just coming to post my displeasure with this announcement. I am irrationally sad.
also, I am kind of tired of the "we thought it would be as cheap as the American stores!" bullshit. it can't be. it won't be. our economy is structured differently. Walmart Canada isn't as cheap as US Walmart, but I don't hear the insessant whining about that.
I think DH is finally getting up the guts to ask for the raise he deserves. He was hired as a manager a year ago, with only a 5% raise from lead engineer, which he would have gotten anyway with no change in duties. His bosses promised him a raise in 6 months if he did well, and that didn't happen. Here we are over a year later, and he's now gotten up the guts to ask. (His performance and performance reviews have shown that he is doing well in the position.) They were ready to give a $20k raise to an engineer with 5 years experience to keep him from going to a competitor, and that would have put him within spitting distance of DH's salary and he's got more than 15 years of experience and a year in management... so their excuse of no money being available is bullshit. Salary.com confirms he's underpaid.
If DH gets this raise, we could more reasonably afford a 3rd kid... still not sure we want that, but last night DH was suddenly all for it. I'm more willing to seriously entertain the idea if he gets enough in a raise to pay for daycare for a 3rd. I'm insane.
@starry We had to replace our water heater and is was much less than I originally imagined. I think we paid $600-ish for the heater and installation. I'm sure it can be done for much less if you and your H are DIY types. Did you get a quote yet?
Flameful? My dad is coordinating today while we work (we are paying for it). He got one last year and predicts $600-800. So also how does a dual income household without family help do it?
Yeah ours was about $800 a year ago. We used the same small company for all our heating, cooling and water heater maintenance and I really liked them. (we've since moved ) So I just gave them the garage code and paid with a CC over the phone. No need for anyone to be home or take time off of work. Actually they may have just billed us later, I can't remember now.
We biked again today. It was about ten degrees warmer than yesterday, and felt pleasant in comparison. I have only used my car twice in the new year, both were trips to the suburbs.
I had the worst RLP last night so I went to bed early. The good part is that laying in bed I felt kicks so that was nice.
DH is going out of town until Saturday morning. I have a date with Thai food and The Bachelor tonight.
B doesn't even say goodbye to me in the morning anymore. He's too busy being the Mayor of daycare. It took all of my willpower not to steal some of the kids' bananna bread at dropoff.

It's so weird to me that Canadians don't like Target.
We don't have the same product selection, there's no online shopping, and the prices are higher. I've also found a lot of stock issues (like shelves are randomly empty).
product selection yes (although we have beaver canoe and the US doesn't so i'd argue we win, lol) and online shopping yes, but i don't agree with higher prices.
they aren't higher than walmart and superstore (in my experience, and i'm sure i've read articles supporting this), and when you factor in currency exchange we aren't much if any more expensive than US targets.

How are the prices higher? All the clothes I bought in Florida last year were the exact same price here. I feel like that was a perception but not necessarily true.
I'm using my crockpot AND my breadmaker so that supper is ready for me when I walk in the door tonight (DS has gymnastics at 6 and we get home at 5, so Thursdays are crazy). I adore walking in to that smell of fresh bread and roast beef.

DH has a man cold. I'm really proud of how I handled it last night - made him tea, got him dinner, brought him things. My default is to get irritated but I'm trying to be more kind and loving.

I was just waking up and hear the kids door open. Usually they come in our room, but didn't today. So after a few mins I got up and went to the bathroom, then saw lights on out in the hallway, so went to check on them.
My 4 year old pooped in his pull up and was trying to clean it up all by himself! Ahhhh! First, he hasn't pooped in a pull up at night in like 1.5 years! Then he was trying to use flushable wipes to clean his hands when his back and butt were just covered in poop. And he just threw away the poop filled pull up in the open trash can.
So we had an unexpected bath at 630 am and lots of laundry.
So now we are having unexpected TV watching at 7am before breakfast! It's too early for me to deal with all this! I'm just glad it's a day I'm home with them and not having to go into the office.
I had a cervical check last night and I'm 1 cm. I was reeaaally hoping for more.
Also, DH and I finally started discussing whether or not to circumcise last night. We're less than 2 weeks out. He's leaning towards no, which I was not expecting. We really should've had this conversation sooner.
