But what if something happened to your kid while you were out? dont give any identifying information - there are mandated reporters here. <<squinty eyes>>
I have the red phone locked and loaded. DON'T MAKE ME USE IT.
There is a red phone outside my office for emergencys only AND I am a mandatory reporter! The first time it rang it scared the crap out of me.

I don't disbelieve that she doesn't have a cell phone.
I don't believe that "we left because we were uncomfortable being the only adults there" really meant "we left to go home to call to call the police of course!"
I do disbelieve that they had to leave the park together with the kid (her response to the suggestion she go home to make the call while the h stayed at the park, thereby not leaving the kids without any nearby adult at all) because her sn kid is a two-person job at the park. Her h is a sahd; how does he handle all day, every day, day after day, while she's at work? And if she's not exaggerating the seriousness of her kid needing TWO adults at the park, she'd sure as hell have a cell phone in case of emergency.

Huh. I am in MI too and have not had this experience in the reports I have made.
What part of MI are you in? I know it varies by counties even though it shouldn't. We are working to change the response time and how they communicate with us but it's been years and we haven't gotten very far.
Yeah, I am sure a part of it is that I am in a more rural area, but my experience is that central intake is pretty good about assigning complaints. Are you in Wayne County? They don't use the central intake system, right?

Oakland County. They switched to Central Intake but I have had a lot of CPS workers either not show up to meet with the family Or just call the people and do it by phone. They also never report back to us the status of the case. They will clean up their cases by sending them to us when they really should stay st the CPS level,
