I can't watch because I'm working, but did she say she wants to use female pronouns? Or did she use them herself? I'm wondering because I have a few trans* friends who prefer the pronoun "they."
65 fucking years of waiting, and probably (likely) due in large part to societal pressure. I know it's not the point, because she is now living the life she was born to live, but Jesus it just makes me feel shitty about the kind of society we live in.
I've mentioned this a few times, but one of our friends is FTM. He grew up in a rural part of Kentucky and is fully supported by his family. And his wife was dating him when he was female and has stayed with him throughout the entire process. Their wedding, which happened after he transitioned, was one of the most beautiful I've ever been to and filled with so much love.

Can't wait to watch the interview later!
Someone said upthread she used her. (I'm not watching, so I can't verify.) but that's what I based the she / her commentary on. People should always use the pronouns the person in question uses and prefers, of course.

Yes, she was used.
Bruce also said "This is the last interview as Bruce Jenner".

Ah, thanks. I was reading pretty quickly and missed that.
I suppose that didn't come out quite right lol. I just view all things Kardashian related with a lot of skepticism. I thought this would be more tied to them.
Why would you be skeptical of this? This is about him, not about the khardashian show. Your explanation is not much better than your editing comment.
Skeptical prior to this airing. I have nothing but respect for Bruce. I think she's brave and my heart goes out to her for this. But before it aired, sure I was skeptical of how it would be handled. Pp touched on it, because of Kris. I assumed she'd insert herself somehow.
I didn't realize he started taking hormones back in 1980 - he's been struggling for a long time. I can't imagine what that would feel like, probably so isolating.
ETA: crap, I said he. but Diane just said to use he and him?
I don't understand, if she's identifying as female but she is saying she's heterosexual b/c she is attracted to women. Wouldn't that maker her gay?
Once she completes her transition, she'll probably consider herself a lesbian, as my mtf friend does. But since this interview is still as "Bruce Jenner", I imagine they're trying to clarify that his gender identity is not tied to his sexuality. BJ has always been attracted to women, so while living as a man, he was not gay.

A lot of people don't know that gender identity has nothing to do with sexiality.
I'm presuming she's making the distinction so the broader population understands that she's still attracted to women and that she (when publicly recognized as a male) was not gay.
But, yes, a transgender female who is attracted to women is a gay woman.

Diane asked the question about gender vs sexual attraction and asked once he completed his transition if he's now a woman wouldn't he be a lesbian and Bruce said no.
Diane said "he" is still appropriate until he becomes she?
Damn I need an education on this. My head is spinning
He and him is appropriate if that is what Bruce is using.
A lot of people never fully transition, though, and still prefer the pronouns of the gender they feel. And as someone else pointed out, some prefer the use of they.

It's confusing, for everyone, often even for the person in transition. And everyone is different and requests different pronouns at different times. The best thing is just to be as sensitive as possible and try to adhere to their wishes as much as possible too. I imagine he'll want to be referred to as "she" once he's chosen a new name and is further along in the process. But then again, I don't know him personally (duh) so I really shouldn't guess.

Well, I'd go by what she feels, but LGBTQ advocacy groups indicate that a transgender male who is with a woman is a straight man and a transgender female who is with a female is gay.
But if she doesn't identify as gay, then she doesn't identify as gay.

OK, thanks. I appreciate you being so understanding and indulging so many questions so I can learn.
