if you read e-books, how do you get them (Amazon, library, etc)?
I'm finally able to read more and have pretty much run through my library's small collection and am less than impressed with amazon's kindle unlimited selection. I really hate buying books for some reason, but am not opposed to a subscription service (like oyster, but it appears to be app-based).
I always buy on Amazon. It's probably definitely a waste of money. But I only buy 4-5 a year so whatever. I keep a wish list on Amazon and will buy when they are a reasonable price.
I just bought Unbroken but haven't started it yet. It was $5.25.

I'm currently slowing making my way through a reread of A Song of Ice and Fire. I ended up buying them because 1) I really like them and 2) I couldn't make it through them before my library check out expired.
I do borrow a lot of books for my a Kindle through the Air Force library. I've heard that Philadelphia is known for a good online selection, and out of state residents can buy a subscription fairly cheaply.
I get my ebooks from the library. You can join another library (for a fee) to access more books. I got my sister who lives in another state a friends membership to my library since she lived outside of the library districts near her. It was $50 / year. Lots of people use the Philly library too.
And I am reading remember by Eileen Cook. (Light ya)
I'm currently reading Life After Life and Americanah. I get almost all my books from the library as ebooks. They have almost every book I've searched for, and the ones they don't have I buy on Amazon using my ebook credits from Prime slow shipping. I would look in to getting a membership at a bigger library if you read a lot.
I just finished Jane Green's Summer Secrets and started Emily Liebert- Those Secrets we Keep. I'm not really into and will probably not finish it. Next up is Patti Callahan Henry- The Idea of Love.
I get my books from a lot of places and mostly read ebooks. I actually just won a book from Goodreads and it's my first time reading a "real" book in years- since having DS It's We Never Asked for Wings: A Novel and it looks good but reading an actual book is a lot harder these days than just grabbing my ipad or nook.
If anyone is interested in being friends on Goodreads- I have the same UN over there and I love to get and share book recs.
The life changing magic of tidying up, by Marie Kondo.
This one I bought at Costco. Normally I borrow from friends, buy second hand, or buy from Amazon. Our local library isn't very convenient and I don't like reading on an e-reader.
I get all of my ebooks through the library - my county has a great selection. My only issue with it is that I usually go through and put a bunch on hold (because there is almost always a waitlist) and then I often get them at the same time. I just finished The Boston Girl - it was really good - and now I have 3 new titles that just came through. I need to read fast. I just started A Blue Spool of Thread, I'm not loving it so far.
I do Amazon. Books re my fun money thing and I try to keep it to like $10.99 or less. I've also scored some fun ones when they pop up as deal of the day or 100 kindle books for the month. A lot of them suck but I'm not a particular reader either.
I'm still on Girl on the Train. I've been out of time lately.
I 'just' finished The Girl on the Train and I liked it; it was a pretty quick read.
I've never paid for an e-book. I just google "read Book XYZ online free" and I can usually find it, often it's as a pdf, then I read it on the ipad. The downsides to this are that there's often no way to bookmark where you are, so you need to jot down the page where you stop each time, and sometimes a word might be off here and there from when someone scanned it in. But it's free, and there's no waiting list to worry about.

I try to do the library, but will buy discounted books, or books I really want that the library doesn't have. Currently reading Masters of Sex, about Masters and Johnson. I was watching the Showtime show, and I was curious about them. It's interesting, but I'm ready to finish it and go to the next book (The Rosie Project).
I've been reading pulpy mysteries (Jonathan Kellerman, Harlan Coben, etc.), but none of them really stand out as good.

Slowly working my way through the Outlander series on my Kindle, I recently finished book 6. Currently reading The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen, it's kind of Hunger Games-esque.
Currently reading The Royal We which seems to be loosely based on Will + Kate.
That was such a fun, light read. I hope they write a sequel.
I'm reading The Patron Saint of Liars right now, but have two or three books that should be available any day now from the library. Most of the books I read come from the library or the Kindle daily deals list, but I also ask for Amazon gift cards for every occasion and mostly use them for books that I really want but can't get from the library.

I'm currently re-reading Harry Potter.
I get nearly all of my kindle books from the library (my library has an awesome selection though). I usually find a "books you should read" list on buzzfeed and try to find something that sounds interesting and my library has available.
Otherwise, my favorite place to buy books is goodwill.
The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids by Alexandra Robbins
Has anyone else read it? It chronicles a year in the lives of a group of high performing high school students from a very affluent school district in Maryland as they apply for college. Basically, the stress over APs, SATs, demonstrating a "passion" for a particular activity or subject area, etc. etc. I bet a lot of people on here went through something similar as high school students, especially if you're on the younger side. Except it's apparently like 10x worse now because getting in to a top college is more competitive than ever. It's very disturbing. It's actually giving me anxiety to think about having to navigate this mess in about 10 years. God forbid it is the same way then. I hope something changes in the meantime.
I'm reading too many things: 1984 - e-book, from the library, on my phone, for book club I Heart My Little A-Holes - audio book, on my phone, during commutes Clutterfree With Kids - actual library book, inspiring me to get rid of much shit.
I've been reading creepy books with a side of disturbing for a few of them. I'm currently reading NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. I recently finished Sharp Objects and Dark Places, both by Gillian Flynn (same author who wrote Gone Girl), as well as Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and the second book, Hollow City, by Ransom Riggs. The last two are just kind of weird/creepy, but the others are pretty disturbing, so if that isn't something you like, I wouldn't recommend them.
I only read actual books because I don't have an e-reader. We frequent the library.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through 11/22/63 by Stephen King, based on recommendations from the ladies here. I really like it, surprisingly, since I didn't think it was going to be my kind of thing. I'd definitely recommend it!
I'm reading a lot of Mary Kay Andrews, Wendy Wax, Carolyn Brown, and Mary Alice Monroe right now.
I download most of them from the library. Sometimes I buy them but not often. I tried kindle unlimited but wasn't a huge fan.
Here's a library, I think the Philadelphia library? That you can purchase a membership for, and use their Ebooks (sorry if someone else mentioned, I didn't read the whole thread).
I've been reading 2-3 books a week lately. It's my guilty pleasure.
I'm reading UnDivided, the last book in the UnWind dystology. I am about halfway through and enjoying it so far. I am looking forward to seeing how the series is ended.
I get most e-books from my library. I read about 125 books a year so there is no way I could buy them all. My library has a decent selection but I still wish they had more.

I'm slowly working through that one too.
I think I'm going to start Ender's Game next. I never read it but I'm on a sci fi kick. I just read The Martian and Z is for Zachariah. Both were good.
