I only brush E's hair after bath in the evenings and then it gets messed up by morning. And he needs a haircut but I think his long hair is so cute. Guilty!

My kids are so sweaty and dirty after daycare! Lots of times their faces are also covered in food since they'd just eaten dinner. I never mind it too much, but the other day I went to the liquor store right after picking them up and they looked so haggard and I tried to wipe their faces with my sleeve so it was less embarassing. It was ONLY because I was buying booze!

Hair and such is just....so above and beyond what I have the mental capacity for (I have to get myself ready in the morning too!!). But I go to work w wet hair (clipped up) and did before kids too so obviously I just DGAF about beauty standards. And I went to work today w a spot on my shirt from a kiss from Gabe. At least the 4 of us match.
This crap frustrates me. Stop judging stupid shit. Be concerned if you see kids downright actually dirty or obviously uncared for -- and then, be concerned, don't judge. Unkempt is not the same.
This! I have to fight him getting dressed to go to daycare every morning. I don't have another fight in me to get his hair brushed either!

My Facebook is full of people who are making the same point as Dorothy, but many of my friends are from/near Newtown so I never know whatever that is the norm or not.
My kids often look like ragamuffins with stained clothes and hair disheveled. I just can't keep them looking perfect all the time . I often do look at them and hope no one judging me. I guess they really are.
mine is that I give the side eye to people who don't make any attempt to keep their children from looking like ragamuffins. Stained clothing, hair in their eyes, etc. I wouldn't leave the house like that so why would I have my kid looking like that? I mean, I get if you are out all day and they spill something or whatever but that's not what I'm referring to. I see people drop off kids at my gym daycare that don't have their hair brushed or anything.
Bwahahahahaha.
You would literally sprain your eyes if you saw my ragamuffins.
Are people making a bigger deal out of that lion than out of the movie theater shooting in Lafayette? Because it sure seems like that to me, based on my Facebook feed.
Did any late night hosts shed public tears for those two murdered women?

It's a completely different thing-- Cecil the lion was in a protected area and ended up in a lethal situation while going about his daily routine and was killed by a entitled white guy with a history of violent behavior.... Uh, wait a minute....
I do have various news outlets on my FB food and it makes it hard for me to read sometimes. It seems besides the major violent atrocities that get big media attention every day there are at least two articles about an adult killing a child.
I am horrified by trophy hunting and that an animal was lured out of its safe place and given no chance. But I'm baffled this gets such outrage when other things that happen every day do not.
I'm probably offending the hunters here but I have a really hard time seeing people that kill animals as a hobby/sport as "kind" or "loving".
I get it. And it's hard for me, too. I'm a bleeding heart liberal who used to be a vegetarian purely due to animal rights issues. But in my case, these people are kind and loving. I strongly disagree with what they do and they respect my opinion. It took me a while to figure out my feelings on this. It's a weird position to be in.
That has got to be tough. We know a couple that are big game hunters too-- really nice people but I can't help but think why??? Couldn't you get the same thrill by tracking and, I don't know, taking pictures or something? What compels people to kill and collect trophies?
Here is something that I am judging the shit out of. This has been posted and reposted in the "mama swap" local bst I am in over and over since April. I am related to her (by marriage.) Her husband is a very successful doctor--I know for a fact they are not hurting for money! No one wants your fugly used bikinis from 1980 or to PAY you for the free hangers that you took from Target and Walmart. My sil's and I were texting about it this morning and cracking up. We might need to stage an intervention.

A FRICKIN MEN
It is horrific, yes, but let's not let it distract us!!
I think calling hunting a sport is ridiculous and I never understand the desire to kill innocent animals. Are you starving? Are you poor? Are there no social services available to you?
I actually have zero problems with people hunting if they eat what they kill. I think that having to personally take the life of the animal breeds more respect and connection to the food they eat.
Hunting for trophies is another matter, of course. Poor kitty.
I have seen pics of the kids here and not at all what Im talking about. L's hair is a wreck by the end of the day too. I am talking about first thing in the morning, matted hair that hasn't been brushed. I mean, my kid doesn't want to brush her teeth either and I still make her do that. Hair brushing is no different.
In the hierarchy, to me, is stuff that affects your health. Wipe up, brush teeth, etc.
Really, hair doesn't affect your health the same way teeth do. If I'm going to pick a battle, teeth wins every time.
Granted I just have 1 kid now who needs a hair brush but still.

Of course it is! American won't do anything about gun violence. People are not unfeeling about the lives lost but it's every week and nobody is doing anything.
Also, I'm so sick of people saying that people are all concerned about this lion but not concerned about *insert other cause here*.
You know what? I'm concerned about the lion AND starving kids AND police brutality AND a bunch of other stuff!
I don't think FB is that great of a platform to determine the extent of what people are concerned about or care about. I posted about this douchebag lion killer but I am just as horrified about gun violence and am in no way desensitized to it. I can't explain what made me rant about the lion killer over the gun violence murders but it definitely wasn't a lack of caring. I've gone on non-stop gun violence rants many times.
I think for me, as a white person, it's speaking up about the issues. Obviously SM isn't the best way to do this etc but it does bring awareness. So I think of what I want to bring awareness to.
In general white silence is pretty stark in a lot of this. Even if you support a cause, you need to be a good ally. That means listening, usually, but also giving platforms for POC's voices. If I "share" an article, that's a start. Even better if I can speak about it if the topic comes up in conversation IRL. A few times I've had people start IRL conversations based on what I post.
If you support something social but don't speak up about it, it isn't always helpful, y'know? Though I'd rather have people silent and listening/learning/reading than just silent.
I think selling used articles of clothing over the internet is strange. I don't know why I find it strange since people spent their hard earned money on it so they should be able to recoup some of it. However, I just feel like used clothes should be donated, always. Maybe not entirely rational but...

But couldn't you say that about everything that gets resold? If I were getting rid of clothes that I thought someone would buy, I'd definitely sell them, not only for the money but also because it's more likely someone would actually use them. Donated clothes so often go to landfills.
