Me too. I tried to sell some stuff on the local garage sale site cheap and it didnt work out for me. Then I thought about just keeping it because its worth something. In the end I donated to Goodwill.

So I'm about halfway through the book and working my way through komono now.
My issues thusfar-
1. I don't love the idea of folding my socks differently. I may try it and see, but since I find some of her stuff a little hokey, I don't actually think my socks are in pain 2. I went through and got rid of a lot of electronics boxes, but I refuse to recycle the ones for items I sell. People *always* ask for the box so I keep them for our phones and other small electronics. At least they are all in a small storage box that is labeled and put away? 3. I've gone through my filing cabinet twice and there are just some things I can't imagine getting rid of. Do you all keep your tax papers for 7 years? Not the actual return you file since that is available online, but all the W-2s and 1099s and stuff?
I've officially transferred all my clothes into my closet WITH room to spare. So cool.
So I can't find my camera charger. The only plausible cause is I accidently donated it to goodwill. I over konmaried. I was really posed Tuesday because I am leaving on a trip today and need a full battery but luckily I have a coworker with the same charger and she saved me. I'm still happy to have less stuff in my house.
Lol. I was just going to ask if people were folding their socks. I went through them last night and ditch a bunch but I still have a lot! Folding might take up less space but seems like they wouldn't stand up.
1. I still fold my socks as I always have. 2. If you have a purpose for some of those boxes, then keep them. What annoys me is DH wanting to keep the microwave box for a decade. 3. I keep all my tax receipts for 7 years. I shred the oldest when I file the new one, though. It's not actually that much room - 7 little folders in our cabinet. I'm sure I keep more than Konmari would say to, but I also don't live in a 300 sq ft Japanese apartment.
My friend and I had our cleaning date yesterday! We filled her entire suv with donations, made 3 boxes for consignment, filled the recycling bin, filled a bag for electronic recycling, and a few bags of garbage. We made great headway on organizing and storing outgrown baby gear and off season stuff like ski gear.
We didn't follow the book exactly, but her goal has been more to do a good first pass through the house and then go back and do the categories individually. She's been picking away at it herself, but this definitely motivated her to work even more. I can't wait to see how much more she cleans out!

So I left my box of 200 loose CDs in front of my house for a day with a Free sign and no takers. I'll admit that our taste in music is pretty bad. Do I just throw them away now?

You can donate them or recycle them. I wouldn't literally throw them in the garbage though.

I rolled my eyes at the sock thing, too, but I decided to try rolling them after I weeded out a ton. I now smile every time I open the drawer. Of course, I haven't worn socks since I changed to rolling them, so who knows if I'll keep it up come winter when I'm wearing socks every day

I'll drop them off with the next load of donations. Not sure if they can resell without the jewel cases but I'll let them make that call.

Bring them to work, or let DH bring them to work. People may pick through them there.
I doubt DH wants his work colleagues to know that he owns two Nickleback CDs (and a Creed!), and I definitely don't want them to see my three (!!!!) Clay Aiken albums. Would much prefer possible shaming by an anonymous thrift store worker.

I'm so jealous. It's pretty much my dream to help people declutter, but the people I know who need it most won't let me at it (my mom)!
I am getting very close to being desperate enough to take you up on this.
Seriously, just having a buddy to keep you company helps a ton. My friend did all the mental work of deciding what to keep and I was able to literally clean up behind her - bagging donations and taking them to her car, putting recycling in the bin, dusting down shelves as we cleared off each one, etc. it also helped keep her on track when she found something sentimental. Put it aside and deal with it later.

Oops, Konmari roadblock. I tried going through all the "junk" in my bedside table. 90% of it was love letters from my H and cards from my 90+ year old grandmother. Sorry, they all spark joy so back in they go until I can find somewhere else to store them.
Laundry supplies! How can I even have an excess of these things? But I do. Well, did. Time to give away the non-HE detergent I bought by accident and actually put away the spare change that has lived on top of the dryer for months.
I just dropped five huge boxes of stuff (books, puzzles, misc household crap), plus a bedding set and lamp at the Goodwill. We currently have a file cabinet, coffee table and side table sitting on the front step to be loaded up next. H is assembling all of C's new Ikea furniture.

H was home to wrangle the kids this morning so I tackled the big job of the master suite, which includes our office space. Not a lot of stuff I wanted to donate, but I got rid of two and a half garbage bags full of trash and recycling! The bathroom looks amazing, I had practically an entire bag of expired/almost empty products and medication.
Next up is the kitchen and pantry, I think. It feels so nice to live in uncluttered spaces!

You may have already done this, but my last few cameras have all been able to charge with either a micro or mini USB cord of which we have many. I've also ordered generic replacement battery chargers and extra batteries from reputable-looking websites.
Thanks. I'm going to order a generic one and just hope one day the brand new one that I had shows up. My camera won't charge off the USB. Luckily the camera is new so the battery is still going strong a week after the last charge. I take at least a picture every day for my photography group so I need the batteries to work.
I am deep cleaning the master bedroom today. This would have taken ten times as long and been a million times more frustrating if we hadn't already tidied all the categories in this room. I'm so happy that I gave in and read this book.

These folded socks look great in the drawers...I may try it out.
You guys should see how neat DH's sock drawer is. He puts me to shame with his neatly stacked piles (all of his socks are the same so he doesn't mate them, just simple stacks). My sock drawer is a chaotic mess, they're all mated but tossed in haphazardly on top of each other.
I know she said you don't need to buy boxes and stuff but I will probably cheat and use skubb things from Ikea. I dont have time to just happen upon all these boxes and dividers.
I just did pajamas and work out clothes. I didn't get rid of as much as I thought I would but I think I got rid of 6 shirts, 4 pants and 2 bras. In the next little bit I might get rid of some more things because I still have 4 of each tanks tops, short sleeve shirts and long sleeve shirts. I only get to work out 3 days a week anymore so I don't need that much. But I figure I have the seasons covered. Also, I have 6 sports bras but I dont know what my boobs will look like when I wean, other than sad. How do you fold sports bras?!?!
