I'm back. I forgot there are three Stouffer's meals I like: fettucine alfredo, macaroni and cheese, and tuna casserole. I also like letting them cook longer than suggested to make the edges crispy. I already know that sounds gross.
Eta - I'm back again. So wait, if I have to count Twizzlers and other cheap candy, then this could take awhile. Twizzlers, Snickers, Rolo, Twix, KitKat, Laffy Taffy, Charleston Chew, Sno-Caps, and Reese Cups. Bye again.
Eta - Hi again. Also Tastycakes (butterscotch Krimpets and chocolate cupcakes), but only in Philly. They taste different other places.
"Real" Mexican tacos aren't made with ground beef, apparently. But as tacosforlife said, I guess they're legitimate tex mex?
My dad doesn't do much ethnic food, but will do American tacos a la hard old el paso shells and ground beef. I live in San Diego, so land of amazing and authentic Mexican food. When he came to visit I was worried whether he could find anything to eat at our fav Mexican takeout, but they actually had ground beef tacos. they were soft tortillas, so I guess they are only willing to go so far ;-).
My tummy hurts reading these... but I'm pretty sure that it's the fact that I went to my boss's house for "lunch" today. He and his husband are baking for the fair and had leftovers, so coworkers and I went over and left with plates of sweet treats... and that's all I had for lunch.
tacosforlife, I will be having some totino's for dinner tonight thanks to this thread.
Velveeta cheeseburger macaroni boxed meal. That was a serious craving during my pregnancy with dd2. Top Ramen* cooked, removed from the broth, then topped with soy sauce. It's like super cheap (price and taste) chow mien. Chicken and dumplings that involves chicken, cream of crap soup, and canned biscuits. my ultimate comfort food- turkey sandwich on white sandwich bread with mayonnaise and canned cranberry sauce. Mmmmmm. My great-grandma used to make this for me every Sunday after church. Extra delicious if it is cut in to four little triangles.
*I am almost embarrassed to admit that I own the "101 things to do with Top Ramen" cookbook. It was a gift from DH's grandma.
Pop-tarts. I didn't realize how amazing they are until they were 8 Euros per box in France. Now that I am back in the US, they are my go-to pick-me-up crappy food of choice.
Pop-Tarts. Oh, and I haven't had them in so long I don't know if I would still like them or find them gross, but I used to LOVE those "Vienna Sausages" (i.e., spam sausages in goo):
Thumbs up on Pop Tarts (I saw this after I posted).
Re: Vienna Sausages, I too, loved them as a kid. Then I stocked up on them in preparation for some hurricane or other and when I actually opened a can, it was not as great as I remembered. But not terrible, either. I still keep them in my hurricane-preparedness pile of canned foods.
Is this a good place to admit that my favorite candy is tootsie rolls?
Ha, every time, I'm like "WHO IN THE HELL LIKES TOOTSIE ROLLS?!?!?" It seems to me like the candy you'd eat in a poor, sad land where real chocolate hasn't been invented yet. But I love Bit O Honey, so...glass houses.
I think gravytrain225 made these recently because she was asking on mmm for a recipe and everyone said wtf are you doing lol. She used a crock pot, though?
Lol I did! Msmery is from Buffalo too. Another poster said these are strictly a Buffalo thing! You all are missing out.

My DS loves these. I put them in his care package. You are not in good company lol.
This thread makes me also think of things I once ate but could not eat as an adult. Beef scrapple. Sardines. Taco Bell. Really most fast food. Frozen pizzas. These little fake English muffin pizzas I made for my sister and I in the toaster over and she thought I was a better cook than our parents . The bread pizzas I make when we'd run out of English muffins (dark days). Beefaroni. White bread. Soda. Someone should have really called CPS.
It also makes me think of things I'm glad I've never eaten lol. Velveeta. Spam. Fried Bologna. Vienna sausages. Some stuff my best friend's mother ate called hogsheads cheese. Tripe. Those cheese dreams that are still haunting me.
Oh, here's one of mine. We grew up eating "burnt cheese". Slice of bread (wheat) with sliced sharp cheddar cheese. Put it under the broiler until the cheese starts to burn. Yum!
I fail to see what's gross about that. Everybody knows that slightly browned/burnt cheese is the best. I'm over there with sfy scraping at the edges of the lasagna pan.
I had never eaten spam until last year. We went to Honolulu and it happened to be the same weekend as Spam Jam. I tried it ... but man it tastes like what I think cat food would taste like.

I also ate many, many English muffin pizzas as a kid and have a list of things I can't go back to. Number one on that list is Steak-umms. It kind of breaks my heart when I think about what a big treat it was in our house for my parents to fry up some Steak-umms on a Sunday night and slap them on Italian bread with some Cheez Whiz to make "cheese steaks."

Alright, I've got another one. My favorite "sundae". Vanilla icecream, a few scoops of peanut butter, chopped up sweet pickles. Mix and enjoy. I eat this a few times a year.
OMG. I was reading this and I'm like, "OK, ice cream, vanilla, yeah, this sounds good...peanut butter, mmm, I don't know why she thinks this is weird....swee...what?...no, that doesn't say what I think it...OH MY GOD OH MY GOD CANNOT UNREAD CANNOT UNREAD!"
