Yes, the Jaguars. I really, really don't care. DH is a fan, and years ago when FIL's work had club seats we could use for free, we used to go. MIL and FIL have had season tickets for years, so I'm often around when games are on, but I really only care about the team because I think it's good for the city.
I don't care much for football in general, though. I went to a basketball school
I grew up a cowboys fan, but hate them now. I know a lot of teams pull a lot of shit, but Jerry jones has sold his soul to the devil. The shit with Greg hardy is enough to ban the nfl from our house altogether.
H says it's not going to happen, and he is super smart about football. There is no way the NFL will have more than 32 teams and 24 out of 32 team owners would have to vote for one team to relocate. At least 9 owners have said they would vote against the Rams and the Chargers moving to LA. The Raiders have a solid foundafion in Oakland now so that's not happening either. Everyone talks about the Jaguars moving but I think they prefer to be a shitty team where no one is paying attention lol.
I would happily send you guys the Jets. They are a great team!
i wouldn't be so sure about the Raiders. the NFL doesn't have a team in the 2nd largest tv market in the country. for years al davis made DAMN SURE that NO ONE could put a team in LA (he sued the NFL in court and won the exclusive rights to football in LA) but with al gone anyone could put a team there with enough ownership approval.
the Raiders are far from happy with their stadium situation in Oakland and the city of Oakland and Alameda County are in no rush to give either the Raiders OR the A's the individual stadiums they want. the Raiders are the only team that has to SHARE a stadium :/ the Raiders have just as large a fan base in LA as they do in Oakland. so if they were to jump ship to LA, lots of fans would be welcoming them back with open arms. it should be interesting to see how it all plays out. the Raiders, i think, have a short term lease so anything goes and they could easily go south.
So maybe they move. But it won't be to LA. For whatever reason, when the Rams and Raiders were in LA, it was a crappy market. You would assume the second-largest city in America could create a large fanbase for at least one team, but they didn't. I don't know why myself. And I doubt owners are going to forget about the LA years enough to vote for any team to move there.
We have 2 and I am marginally interested in one (the Giants). I used to be marginally interested in the Jets when I had more friends who were Jets fans and time to watxh games together. The only time I really follow is my college team. Go Buckeyes!

Still happy to offer them the Jets though.
I agree. DH and I are big football fans and for the brief stint that we spent living in the LA area we found that most people really didn't care about the NFL. DH was a mechanic and used to being able to talk sports with his co-workers since it's a mostly all male working class, blue collar environment, and yet the guys just didn't care. They were much more into college football and the USC/UCLA rivalry than any pro football games or teams. It was so strange to us and outsiders and we couldn't ever really figure out why the LA area can support multiple NBA, NHL and MLB teams, but not football.
But this was about 6-8 years ago. Maybe with the explosion of fantasy football popularity since then it's changed.
I'm pretty sure you're in my hometown @starry. I'D probably be considered a fair weather fan now. Truth be told I'm proud of myself for getting to the point where I no longer care. I'm really happy they are doing well but I also fully expect them to massively eff it all up because that's what they do. But then again I'm the child of someone who gave up their since the beginning of the team season tickets in protest that the ownership continually refused to do anything about it. I can't really blame him given that his football tickets for 8 games they're likely going to lose most of plus licensing fees were pretty much the same price the 80Ish games he gets for better seats at the baseball stadium next door.
No (obv) but the closest baseball team is killing it this year apparently and OMG apparently everyone I know has alllllllways been a Toronto fan. Lolol.
Dh is so mad about all the fair weather fans lol.
I loved going to Jays games when we lived in B-Lo because the stadium was always close to empty and there were just as many fans of the bigger visiting teams than there were for the Jays.
Well the team isn't specifically my city but the stadium is closer to me than Boston so I'm gonna say yes we have a franchise. Most ppl are super into it. I watch games and marginally care.
I feel like I should enjoy football because my Dad played semi-pro (in Canada!) but I just can't get into it. I enjoy the social and food aspects of watching the Super Bowl or Grey Cup with a bunch of people though.
Tbh, even though I would consider myself a sports fan in general, the only major professional league sport I really enjoy watching is hockey. I find the others all too slow-paced.
Velar Fricative and @mrswindycity - I'm currently soliciting opinions on what hockey teams to root for this year!

Yes, we have a team and yes I'm happy--I love my Bengals! I loved them we went to the super bowl in the 80s, I loved them when we sucked in the 90s (and most of our games were blacked out), and I love them now. I do know a lot of fairweather fans though.
Yes, DH has season tickets with his dad to the Patriots. I don't really care and feel the games are a time when places are less crowded. Except pizza. Our pizza place always has a huge wait during games.
I have to plan vacations and everything around the schedule. It is annoying.

We do and I care but Atlanta is cursed when it comes to sports teams. We make it to the playoffs and they let us down every time. Atlanta is also a big melting pot and it's hard to find people actually from Atlanta and not transplants so we tend to have a big mix of fans from other teams. I still support the hometown teams and sometimes the Cowboys cause I'm an Army brat and they were Americas Team.
the Raiders are the only team that has to SHARE a stadium :/
The Giants and Jets share MetLife Stadium.
when the Niners got new digs last year the idea of the 2 teams sharing was bounced around w the Raiders nixing the idea. Ssdly the Raiders are the only team that STILL has to share a a baseball team. The stadium has 2 entirely different configurations to support both and it's a giant PITA to switch bt football and baseball :/
