I SEVERELY the judge the Bump C&P on ML, where the mother was looking for a flame-resistant nursing cover so she could smoke while breastfeeding. WTF??

Ok, I do side eye that. Not ok to have a fame that close to your baby.

1. Hell yes. Who in this day and age doesnt know that 2nd hand smoke is REALLY bad for everyone, but especially for kids who dont have a choice to not breath it if it's in their own home.
As the child of a smoker, I judge on the first a lot and just a little on the second. I had chronic bronchitis and other health issues that magically disappeared when I moved out. I can only imagine the permanent damage it's done. I was also constantly embarrassed that I smelled like smoke.
Smoking is disgusting. If you want to kill yourself with smoke, more power to you. But you shouldn't be allowed to have that choice affect any other people. With that said:
1. Absolutely. DH and I were just talking yesterday that we think it should be illegal to smoke in a car or house with a child inside.
2. It depends. My neighbor smokes outside her backdoor, and I can smell it when I am on our patio. I hate it. Outside doesn't necessarily mean 'safe for kids'
1. It bothers me but I don't judge them. 2nd hand smoke is dangerous. I grew up with chronic ear infections and bloody noses as a result of 2nd hand smoke. It wasn't fun and could have been worse. That being said, smoking is extremely addictive and very difficult to quit.

Difficult to quit? Yes. Difficult to not smoke around your child? Hell no it's not.
I judge the hell out of the first one. My dad smoked in the house and in the car with me until I was about 8. I had chronic lung issues and used an inhaler every day. My doctor finally asked if there was a smoker in the house and told my parents to take it outside. I still get irritable thinking about the times I had to stay in a smoke-filled room because family was over and wanted to see me. Or the times when he chain smoked in the car and wouldn't let us roll the windows down because it was too cold outside. My eyes would uncontrollably water and itch, my nose wouldn't stop running, and I was a wheezing miserable mess.

My sil and her h smoke, but not around the baby. But. It all falls apart, because they work opposite shifts, and how the hell do they smoke when they are the only parent in the house (which is most of the time). My sil just waits, as far as I can tell (but she might just be on good behavior around us). My bil smokes constant Y, and in the summer brings the baby outside to smoke. Better than in the house, but still. So what does he do in the winter- leave the baby unsupervised in the house (she only naps once a day) or bring the baby out in the winter? Either way. I majorly judge.
I guess so but honestly don't know anyone personally who does this now. I grew up with a mom who did & I seem to be one of the few who doesn't feel scarred from it all. Many of my friends had parents that smoked too (1980s) so maybe that's why it was NBD to me. All 5 of us kids are healthy as adults & were as kids. My mom did quit after 30+yrs but got very obese after quitting. Her obesity has wrecked complete havoc on her body & health but her lungs are fine shockingly.
