Your birth story sounds utterly terrifying, so I'm sorry for that. But your baby is a great weight for gestational age and long term 31 weekers do really really well. The NICU is hard but you take it one day at a time and you get through it. My babies were born at 34 weeks which I know is later, but my little one was 3lbs13oz. 1lb babies go on to thrive!
patches31709 Thank you for sharing your story. I'm going to be sad to leave with her but I want her to be strong and healthy for when she can come home, regardless of how long that may take. It's just going to be hard.
Hugs, and congratulations! That sounds so scary, but I'm glad you were able to get to the hospital and have a safe delivery. Sending so many good thoughts to you and your family.
Oh wow, what a story. I hope you and your little girl are home safe and sound, soon. Congratulations and take care of yourself. Welcome to motherhood! And P.S. half South Asian-half white little girls are the best (P.P.S. Lots of race-related talk around here these days but I'm allowed to say that because I have one!)
Wow, what a story to tell her when she gets older!
I am so glad you made it to the hospital in enough time and that she's doing well in the NICU. Congrats on the birth of your DD and I hope her time in the NICU flies by.
oh wow, congratulations on her birth! that must be so much to process. What a story for when she is older.
Our goddaughter was born at 31w and some days. Her mom's water broke standing up from the couch. She spent 3 weeks in the NICU, but is now a healthy, normal kindergartener. She's been caught up for quite some time, and her mom has had 2 more kids since who went to full term. Wishing your family a similar outcome!
Oh my gosh, how scary and unexpected that must have been. I'm glad she's doing well and I will keep you guys in my thoughts. Congratulations! Keep us posted on how things are going and how you're managing.

First of all CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! I feel for you and your shock...I have a fairly typical story of overdue, failed induction, c-section, NICU stay and I have a hard time coping with that so this is a lot to get through. All I can say is, that part is over and just to focus on her. When people offer to help you, SAY YES! Have them bring your or husband food, clean your house, finish your nursery, shop for preemie clothes/diaper, get some supplies for you. If you don't have one, have some get a pumping bra for you NOW so you can pump more often and keep your sanity

Oh wow, what a crazy birth story you'll be able to tell her when she is older! Congratulations, and T&P for you and her. I hope her NICU stay is short and uneventful and that you get to hold her soon!
Congrats on your baby! I had my daughter at 34 weeks and she weighed the same amount. She was 18.5" long and was in the hospital for 23 days. She gained 1 pound while she was there. She is a perfectly healthy 8 year old today. I know the feelings you are describing, like you're pregnant and then all of the sudden you aren't! It's the craziest feeling....I was very emotional about that, seeing other pregnant women made me really upset. Anyways, I hope she gets to come home soon.
Congrats! A teeny tiny baby! My DD was born a few ounces more than yours. The NICU took great care of her. The MFM I saw in the hospital called it "the best daycare money can buy." I called her my "teeny tiny" for months until she chunked up to look more like a typical newborn. Best wishes that your teeny tiny will be home soon with you too.
