At 31w 2d. Completely unexpected and quickly. I'm kind of in shock to be honest.
I woke at around 4am on Sunday and thought I had peed myself. I called the doctor on call and she said to come into labor and delivery in an hour or two. But I kept leaking fluid each time I would go to "pee".
Of course there was the tiny issue that it had snowed 30" the night before. We ended up calling 911 and the police came. They proceeded to get stuck since there was a lot of snow on the ground. A military 5 ton truck had to tow the police suv down the street to the waiting ambulance.
At the hospital they checked me and I had been contacting all the way on the ride in. I was 6cm and baby's foot was on it's way out. I had an emergency c section and our little girl was born just barely 1.5 hours after we got to the hospital and nearly 4 hours after I realized I had broken my water.
She weighed 3lb 6oz and is in the nicu. She's doing well enough for being so early but I'm obviously scared. If you could, please keep her in your thoughts.
Hugs. I'm sorry you had such a scary experience, but am very glad you were able to make it to the hospital. Sending good thoughts to hour baby girl and you. How are you feeling?
nachos Thank you for the story about your family member. It means a lot to hear from others in a similar situation.
pinotgrig I'm ok. In shock and can't wrap my head around how my normal pregnancy ended this way. But I'm just glad she's doing well enough. I never in a million years would have thought this would happen so it's going to take some time to adjust. I'm keeping on top of my pain meds which is helping. Thank you for asking.
What a scary situation. I'm so glad they were able to get you to the hospital. I hope your recovery goes smoothly and that your little girl gets strong really quickly in the NICU. She will have quite the story to tell later on. Thinking of you!

Congratulations! During the storm H and I were talking about how scary it would be to be pregnant/go into labor during the storm! Sending good thoughts for your little girl!
Oh my goodness! Congratulations! So glad you made it to the hospital- what a story for when she's older. I hope she has a relatively short NICU stay and that you are all doing well.
raangoli - it can be hard when things go so far off "plan". There are many here who had less than ideal or scary births so you'll have plenty of people to talk to about your feelings on your experience if/when you want to.
Good job staying on top of your pain meds - that's a smart move!
