Ours isn't open Saturday or Sunday! It sucks. We are always looking for things to do on the weekend and it would be nice if there were library activities then.

This would make it impossible to pick up the books I check out!

I live in a 1+ million population city and ours is closed on Sundays during the summer. Open 12-5 during the winter. It also has terrible Saturday hours.
Yes, from noon to 5. That's a bummer that yours isn't. I think it's hard sometimes with the funding they get.
Ours is open until 9pm during the week.
This kills me. Put more of my tax money to the library, I'm ok with that!
I live in a pretty conservative suburb (read: don't tax me), but I think the people around here are pretty good about funding schools and the library system.
It sucks that libraries don't get more community support. They can be pretty amazing places.

In my state, most libraries have Sunday hours only from approximately September until May.
My library is always closed on Sundays--it is a budget thing. You have to pay staff time and a half for Sundays and the staffing budget is always really tight.
We are always open Saturdays 9-4 and four nights during the week until 8 pm though.
It's open for 4 or 5 hours on Sundays from September through May. Closed on Sundays in the summer. Saturday hours are 9-5. Monday-Thursday is 9-9, Friday is 9-5.

Employees get time and a half pay for a Sundays (ETA: locally) because it's not part of the normal workweek. So when budgets are tight, Sunday hours are usually the first things to go, or only some locations get the Sunday hours. And often, the demand may not be there either.
There is definitely at least one library in your borough that is open Sundays.
ETA: While Saturdays are part of the workweek, skeletal staffing also means programs are harder to schedule on Saturdays (and Sundays).

We have Sunday hours. During the recession they had to cut Sunday's though due to budget concerns. We got them back a few years ago. We have an amazing library.

Our library system rotates days closed among the branches so I'm sure one/ some of them are closed sundays but not the couple I use. One's closed Tuesday and the other Wednesday of the two I use most (one by work, one by home)
The one at my parents is closed Sundays in July and August. My town has summer Sunday hours of 12-4. During the school year I think the hours are 10-5 for Sundays.
