My anxiety is at an all time high now. If the power goes out, I'm afraid the baby will overheat and something bad will happen to him. I won't be sleeping for days.
noodleskooze hugs, I promise the baby will be fine. I know that means nothing when you're on high alert with anxiety, but nothing bad will happen to him.
My H is in the RGV. He's working from home. As far as I know, classes on his campus are still a go for next week. I wasn't really all that worried until he started talking about buying bottled water. Now I want him home with me, where no natural disasters can befall us... at least until the Big One hits.

My mom works in Galveston and they prepped her office today in case they don't come.in tomorrow for the weekend.
My parents and oldest brother live between galveston and houston so are prepping to have flooding and are considering potentially going to my other brother's house on the east side of houston. That brother went and stocked up on beer, wine, cookies and chips today lol. He said all the stores are out of water.
South of SA here, and we're just expected to get a lot of rain. There were terrible accidents involving children during the last hard rain, so I am praying that it moves past us quickly.

I just keep worrying--what if we're out of power for a long time? His medicine will go bad. What if we run out of formula or water? What about food for L?
Live in west TX now, but all my family lives in and around Houston. They're stocking up, and my mom has a generator. I hope my youngest sister heads to my mom's house, since she is in the flood zone and my mom is more inland.
Stay safe you guys! A little funny - people from back home keep texting asking if we're going to be ok and I'm like...have you seen a map of Texas? Lol. Dallas is way north.
I'm trying to decide if I should fly back tonight as planned or stay in NJ and fly back on Wednesday
I believe airports have started to cancel flights as of last night so check and see if they will fly in tonight. Can you get on a flight earlier in the day?
As of now all flights from EWR to IAH on United are going. Corpus is cancelling flights. My concerns are do I fly home and deal with losing power for a couple of days or stay in NJ and try to fly back when everything might still be flooded.

If you are fine there...with family or friends, stay there.
I'm in west TX so hopefully we get some rain out of it, but my family is in south TX and they're expected to get hit harder. I'm currently in Austin for work but will be leaving this morning to get out of the area before rain starts here.
The eye moved to hitting right over Rockport. Eric called yesterday and our boat insurance may not cover a hurricane. Which sucks but at the end of the day it's just stuff not people. My inlaws house in Rockport should be ok flood wise if the storm surge stays under 10ft.

I've seen people on the news that are leaving for the first time ever. It seems like the less time for build up on the news has been a good thing in terms of people evacuating. Thinking of everyone in these communities.
Guys please be careful! This storm is reminding me of Katrina and it looks like it's going to hang out for a while on land there:( Please evacuate if you need to!
I was thinking the same thing this morning. I loved living down in NOLA but I don't miss the Hurricane worry. Stay safe everyone!

A few local FB weather people who normally only discuss my local weather are losing their minds over this storm. They're showing models (the EURO) that are dumping 50" of rain in some places. My God! Stay safe, Texans!
