I'm in the Heights and my dad lives in Spring (on the west side near Klein). Not sure if that's even far enough north to make a difference.
If you will feel better going to your parents, go now. It's okay weather wise I think. The issue right now is that they don't know what is going to flood so they can't tell who to evacuate and you want to keep the roads clear if you can). I'm in the heights too. We've only been here for 18 months (in midtown for 7 years before that) and we've been okay. The streets flood but they've receded
I know I'm a complete stranger but pm me if you need anything. Hang in there.

And now I really feel insane because I'm getting upset all over again that I couldn't nurse because that would have been so much better than having to prep for enough formula and water and how to clean bottles...

DFW Texan here.
Stay safe, it sounds very scary. My sisters in North Spring and close friend in Katy. Hopefully the flooding isn't too terrible, Houston is awful with the flooding that's possible.

I'm in Katy. It's been raining intermittently but is a bit more steady though not heavy yet. Water bottles are all filled, fridge and freezer turned way down. A friend out in fulshear said they are already without power but we are fine so far. Streets are draining and the backyard is ok though I do have big bags of mulch to lay at the back door should I need to. Luckily we were the only neighborhood out here for over a decade and are tied into the main grid with the emergency system so even with Ike we only lost power briefly. I'm hoping if it gets that bad we will have a simlooutcome.
Thinking good thoughts for everyone in the path of the storm! Stay safe!
noodleskooze Don't feel insane. I know you're having a really rough time right now and the added stress isn't helping. You'll get through this. Lean on anyone who offers if you need help or even just someone to talk to. We're all here for you.
Stay safe! I was only a couple miles from the worst of Hurricane Sandy in NJ. The damage was awful. I helped clean up some of it. We were out of work for a week and almost didn't get paid bc we lost so much business beings closed. If you can get somewhere safe and less likely to lose power def do it. We were able to go to my ILs who had power but it was no easy task and we were childless at the time.

We're out near Austin and it looks like we're going to get a ton of rain. My H is on call all weekend and I really hope that he doesn't get any calls because I don't want him on the roads. We have a lot of water crossings in my areas and they get totally flooded.

where are you from? I live in lavallette.
Not my post but we are in Toms River. We were a few miles away from the water but tons of our friends/family that were on the water relocated to our house.

Stay safe everyone.
I teach at North! We all from here understand what they are going through.

That's too funny! That is where my son will go if we stay in TR.
My husband grew up in Rockport and his Mom still lives there. She evacuated to a town by Victoria. I'm sure her house is gone. It's a house on stilts on a canal. Thankfully my SIL has offered for her to come live with her in another state.
I'm 99.9% sure our house in Rockport is damaged if not complete destroyed. We watched a Livestream last night of areas that are near the house and kept hoping they would drive down our street but we are too close to the water. We were told that if the storm surge stayed at or below 10ft the flooding shouldn't get to the house. It got to 12ft.
The security company called last night to report a "break in." So st the very minimum the windows are definitely blown out.
The hotel and fire department that sustained pretty decent damage are within blocks of the house.
This is so surreal.
I'm just glad I have read an causality reports yet. Has long as it stuff and not people we will be ok. Rockport will be ok.

I am sorry. Hope you are doing okay, I haven't seen you for a while!
