A very stable genius who doesn’t know the difference between “past” & “passed”
Government Funding Bill past last night in the House of Representatives. Now Democrats are needed if it is to pass in the Senate - but they want illegal immigration and weak borders. Shutdown coming? We need more Republican victories in 2018!
Somebody check POTUS’ tweets before they post, C’mon!
I just find it so outrageous that this is going to turn into a narrative about democrats being responsible for this shut down.
Especially when they don't even have 50 GOP votes in thr Senate. This wouldn't pass even if the filibuster were taken away today.
Also I am infuriated that they are trying to frame this as Dems being "pro illegal immigration." We are not. We just want to show some decency and humanity to the Dreamers and not waste billions of dollars on a symbolic wall when that money could help so many people (homelessness! Hungry kids! People in need of health care!) at home.
I am going to need to try to stay away from Twitter today or I might lose it.

There was a Freedom Caucus nut on NPR already calling it the Schumer Shutdown. They are going hard with this narrative, the reporter had to interrupt him several times to even ask her questions and she kept pointing out that the Rs control government right now.

It's not just him. Leadership is going hard on that too. Cornyn was using the hash tag #SchumerShutdown on Twitter yesterday or the day before.
I saw a Quinnipiac poll saying that 1/3 would blame Dems, 1/3 would blame Republicans, and 1/3 would blame Trump. But we will see how that shakes out now that they are going heavy on the "it's the Democrats fault!" messaging.
isabel I Know!! Reprehensible that half of the country will listen to FoxNews’ & R’s narrative on this being D’s fault. biscoffcookies RIGHT?! Sen Kennedy was interviewed on CNN & was speaking of the “stubborn Democrats who need all or nothing” grumble, grumble. The interviewer said, “Aren’t there also Republicans who aren’t voting in favor..?” “WELL, you’re always gonna have a couple of outliers in your own party...” And moved back to how it was D’s fault 🤨 It’s time for the partisan bullshit to END.
The Reps can try to blame the Dems but at the end of the day, they’ve got the majority. If the government shuts down, its because the Rep controlled senate didn’t have the votes. Simple math.
House Intelligence Committee releases memo about “KGB-like” FISA abuses. Courtesy of Nunes.
I’m assuming it’s all faux news spin but I am kind of curious. Don’t read the comments, obviously.
Sources were telling at least one Congressional reporter yesterday that Meadows demanded the release of what I think is this memo, based on how it was described, as part of the deal for Freedom Caucus votes.
Schiff (Dem on the Intel Committee) says that Nunes drafted this memo but left out important facts/context and also exaggerated, and that it is part of the overarching effort to smear DOJ/FBI to discredit the Russia investigation.

The Democrats really, REALLY need to take this message and run with it - HARD - for the next few years.

Oh my god I wanted to kill him. If I could have punched my fist through the radio and hit him in his ignorant, smug, lying face, I would have.

Replying specifically to that last part (can’t bold on my phone) - I know, and that’s what bugs me about it. The GOP is going to start screaming “unmasking” like it’s the new “emails”
Former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault-Newman may have taped confidential West Wing conversations and fears being caught up in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, sources told the Daily News on Thursday.
The former reality TV star’s official last day in the Trump administration is Saturday — despite the abrupt announcement of her departure last month — and her next step seems to be lawyering up.
The soon-to-be former assistant to President Trump and director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison has held exploratory meetings with several high profile attorneys for potential representation, a source told The News.
Manigault-Newman has met with Harvey Weinstein’s former attorney Lisa Bloom and former Bill Cosby lawyer Monique Pressley, among others. (side note: this seems ... unwise ...)
...
“Everyone knows Omarosa loves to record people and meetings using the voice notes app on her iPhone,” a source disclosed. “Don’t be surprised if she has secret audio files on everyone in that White House, past and present staffers included.”
A recent ban on personal cell phones in the West Wing, which followed the release of Michael Wolff’s explosive White House tell-all was related to Manigault-Newman’s track record of recording conversations, the source added.
But a White House insider balked at the idea of Manigault-Newman being privy to any inside information that could be relevant to Mueller’s probe — or of interest to anyone else for that matter.
2 years ago I would have been shocked if an consensual affair wasn't a huge new story. It isn't necessarily a career ending story but it is still something that historically folks cared about. Now? I'm not shocked. Trump voters have routinely said they don't care about Trump's behavior because he gets them what they want in terms of business deregulation and pro-evangelical judges/laws/regulations. It is a devil's bargain if you ask me but they clearly don't see it that way. The Atlantic ran an article about Trump accomplished since he was elected and from his base's perspective it is a lot and mostly positive. If that stops then these sorts of stories will mater more.

It wouldn't if Dems had a cohesive message going out right now. Every Dem with a microphone in front of them should be saying the same message. "The Republicans have a majority in the House and Senate and control the WH. We are voting against a spending bill that does not address DACA, CHIP, or whatever there focus is. If Republicans can not get a coalition of their OWN party to vote for their agenda the blame does not fall on us." Rinse and repeat.

I 100% agree. Most of my ire is on Dems for not putting forth a cohesive message on this. It should be surprising to no one that republicans are going to try to spin this, so why aren’t we circling the wagons and making sure we’re aligned in how the public perceives what’s going on?

I know Rachel Martin wanted to too.
It was infuriating. At one point when he said, "come on, you know better than that, Rachel" I was FUMING. so condescending.
