Cause I am pretty sure it's all democrats. I am a semi- republican, believing in a womans choice in abortion, gay marriage and I am not a fan of religion. Otherwise, I am all republican.
I have voted Republican in the past. I plan to vote for Obama this year, but I was undecided for a long time. I am more fiscally conservative, but it has become clear to me that neither party is truly fiscally conservative. The biggest issues for me in this election are SCOTUS nominations and women's rights.

I prefer to call myself conservative rather than Republican. I lean Libertarian on some issues. I generally don't join in on any political discussions because I'm so outnumbered.
I'm socially liberal and that is what I mostly care about, so I align myself with the Dems. I don't agree with either party across the board. I think everyone would probably better off with dropping labels and running on a platform they actually believe in instead of trying to appease this perceived party line.
Anyway, I would like to believe that if I thought of myself as a Republican and heard my candidate repeatedly insult most of America and say he just doesn't care about them I would start to rethink my vote. I just think its sad that people who don't like either candidate feel like they must vote for "their" candidate because they are a Repub or Dem. boo 2 party system.
Actually, I think many on here are like you - fiscally conservative, socially liberal. They just identify w/ dems instead of repubs.
I agree with this. Recently we had a very long political post and many people were saying that they could go libertarian or would like to vote Republican, but don't feel able to give the coupling of the Republican party with very conservative social policy.
I will agree that I don't know many posters on here who will vocally oppose gay marriage or advocate for using the government to push Christianity.

If there was ever a truly fiscally conservative candidate, who was willing to deal with social security, etc, I would vote for them.
As long as they left religion and my uterus out of it.
But since I don't think either party is actually fiscally responsible in either way, and I care a lot about my uterus, the gayz, and am not a big Jesus fan, I am fairly firmly in the dem camp until something changes.
If I had to label myself something, I would go with the "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" camp. But not exactly. I never vote purely based on party lines.
When I was little and just learning about the political process, I remember being horrified to learn that we had to vote for people and go along with whatever their views were. I thought that we should be able to vote on issues. I remember laying in bed in 2nd grade and thing that "there has to be a better way". I had so many ideas to solve the world's problems, lol

I love this!
I wish more conservatives would post about their political views. It's unfortunate that the Republican party has been taken over by the crazies, but I still like hearing all sides of issues from the non-crazy conservatives.
I'm somewhere right in the middle. I consider myself an independent. I identify with a lot of libertarian views... which is funny, given my line of work and the degree I have (MPH).
Ugh. I'm registered independent because I don't completely agree with either party, but I end up voting Democrat 80% of the time because the Republicans are just so crazy cakes. If their stances on gay marriage, abortion, and eliminating the social safety net weren't so completely offensive to me, I think I'd vote R more often, especially at the state and local levels.
I don't like religion shoved down my throat. I care about my fellow humans. I vote Democrat all the time because of these 2 things. Plus, I am hoping for a repeat of Clinton's time in office.
I trend more to the conservative side of life and am appalled at the bad rap that Christianity is getting. I am not a fan of either major candidate - in any of their platforms. They're both fiscally screwy and their personal skills all need work.
I am socially liberal/fiscally conservative but don't align myself with either party. I pretty much hate them both. I don't even see the point in voting in this presidential election to tell you the truth. Neither choice works for me.
I'm like a lot of posters. Fiscally conservative, socially liberal. I really just hate politics at this point so I don't talk about it or get into debates. I do tend to vote more for Republican's at this point, but really I'm just trying to go for the person who is least BSC. That's a tough job these days.
It blows my mind that Republicans call themselves fiscally conservative. How is being willing to spend a trillion dollars on a utterly pointless war fiscally conservative? Somehow they get away with that but they're "fiscally conservative" because they want to cut millions from social programs. That's a load of bull that no one should fall for.
Just in case those "fiscally conservative" Repubs have forgotten, the last balanced budget and budget surplus came under a Democratic president.

I don't consider "fiscally conservative" to be equal to "republican"
I would actually like to hear from more republicans on the board. I'm having such a hard time wrapping my head around Romney this year and the shit that is coming out of his mouth, that I wonder if there is anyone who truly believes what he's saying. I'm extremely liberal, but would really like to learn more about the other side in an educated and calm manner.
I've voted Republican locally before but NY Republicans are practically communist. I would love to support a third party if I thought they had a shot at winning.
Once upon a time in a faraway galaxy where being Republican meant you belived in small gov I was one. Then they decided to stick their hand in social issues and I ran.
More of a libertarian than a dem though. Since I live is a scary red state I will be voting for Obama.
