I refuse to move on to any other questions until someone explains how saying “uncle please sit” is discourteous and why it is in anyway reasonable for Sansa to just sit there and wait until a later moment to stab her uncle in the back instead. Then I’d like to know why, over the course of 8 seasons, anyone with half a brain wants a POV character to basically just turn into someone she learned from and later executed instead of maintaining some of her original character, growing, learning and coming into her own via the lessons she learned throughout her journey. This show has plenty of holes and weird choices, but this is probably absolute last on the list. Part of the reason Sansa survives and rises higher than the people she learned from is she learned from their mistakes. This is some super basic shit.
Finally, no one is arguing the council attendees made any sense at all.

If we are talking about courtesy, the entire council basically laughed at Lord Tarly if we want to get technical. I'm assuming that's the capacity he was in during the council, since he wasn't in his maester robe.

Do we have any men on this board that can kindly mansplain this scene? That is what we are missing, lol.
FINALLY AND I CANT BELIEVE IM DEFENDING THAT SCENE BECAUSE I THINK A LOT THIS SEASON WAS UNEARNED, BUT.
I think the point of the randoms and bastards and basically the previously “unworthy” mixed in was that the realm has been decimated by years of war which leads to the willingness to try something new. And to show how things have changed. Should it have been so abrupt? No but the showrunners chose a compressed season where they spent a ton of time on Dany (but didn’t really do a great job showing her descent despite the amount of screen time) and tyrion arranging chairs among other things. So here we are. What we get is a council of randoms and bastards to choose the next king mixed in with people we know. And that’s because a fuckton of people are dead and houses completely gone.

We are now not talking about important things like...how did cersei's Carol Brady wig stay in tact despite being crushed?
Or, more importantly, did it even matter if Jon Snow was a Targaryn?
I mean really, Edmure Tully? And sit down? Cmon!
I have a little bit of an obsession with how dumb the golden hand looked and I'm not gonna lie, I might have laughed a little when I saw it had a cameo in the finale.

anastasia is on week 2 of filling this role.
I mean, she's clearly the only one who has read the books and can speak to exactly what GRRM's motivation behind each character is.
Team Sansa. eclaires converted me a few seasons ago, and her wolf tiara sealed the deal. Now that Lyanna Mormont is gone, we needed another woman to tell old men to sit down and know their place.

What are your thoughts on this scene? I thought it was beyond awesome!
🤷♀️ I think the show overall has excelled in dramatic scenery this season. This is just another example of that work. Even episode 5 was incredibly shot. Th he scenes set the stage for the plot and story to be told through the writing, which was lacking.
I honestly feel that D And D got in over their heads and what was once a dragon became kind of al albatross.

I actually think part of why Sansa worked as a character in the show so well is they moved her towards her endgame at the end of season 4. Yes I hated season 5 for her and hated that she got Ramsey moved to her storyline. But it also gave time to her instead of her transformation being so abrupt like other character’s. I think they had no clue Bran ended up the king so they cut him out of a season entirely lol.

I see that my disagreements are being taken as mansplaining. After the initial surprise, I simply was trying to explain myself and why I disagreed with the way the show has shown people becoming “strong”, for reasons shared among several GOT fans across the internet and the group I watched the show with. I legitimately don’t get how wanting to hear everyone say their peace, especially somebody who last was imprisoned because he was supporting the KITN and one of his niblings as his liege in Winterfell, is so controversial.
As for the questions, I legitimately was curious about the things I mentioned earlier, regarding other kingdoms and what was happening there and why they have no goals or personalities. It was a sharp turn on how secondary characters were portrayed, the alliances we were shown, and how diplomacy was done (including threatening the head of the Iron Islands).
I find the comments about “mansplaining” especially insulting as a woman responding to comments after I have said that we are looking at this from different perspectives on the way female characters were shown to gained strength over many years. I have tried to be polite and I have listened. I was interested in hearing from the entire council and that I DO what to know about things that (general) you don’t.
If my attempts at discussion are mansplaining then I’m going to bow out of this thread.

Visually it was a gorgeous season - literally, the acting, the sound, the music, the cinematography, everything EXCEPT the writing were great. I gasped during the dragon wing scene with Dany (and apparently EC had been watching Hilter's speeches to prepare for that scene).
It makes you wonder if they had a series historian (like GRRM utilizes) to make sure they were staying on track.
