Basically the only weather I don't like is above 85 deg or smoky from first fires. But, I'm sure I'd be more bothered by dreary rain if I had to endure it more often.

We're finally starting to get warm. It was in the 70s this last weekend (first since Easter, I think). Yesterday was cold & rainy, tomorrow is supposed to be also rainy... But then warm! Woohoo!!!
Still is. We’re still in the basement. They kept saying “catastrophic “, so that’s scary.
Lord. I'm sorry, be safe.
I just wish our basement was finished and not just concrete and stone.
I think we are ok where we are, but most of my family lives right in the path it took, so I am scared for them. I have lived in KC my entire life and have never had a tornado in areas that I recognize like these places. These are HIGHLY populated areas, highly unusual areas.
Sorry, I am working through anxious energy, not meaning to make this all about me.

I’ve Been getting minute by minute texts from sister who is in her basement in Olathe. It passed north of them ok. Hit Lawrence too where all her in-laws are. Haven’t heard yet about the damage. Scary stuff.
Illinois is hanging out with Colorado and Maine. It had been cold and rainy. I was just out doing showings in pants, boots, a long sleeve shirt, denim jacket, and rain jacket. And I was still chilly. We've hardly had any sun. This is all after a miserable winter too. I'm over it.

It's been raining for 352 years. The Arkansas river is flooded worse than any time in recorded history and it hasn't even crested yet. And there are tornadoes everywhere.
Right now my area is fine - we are north of most of the floods and the severe storms seem to go around us. But my kids are with my mom who lives south of the river, and all of the bridges between there and here are closed. I'm supposed to go get them Friday but it looks like they may have to spend some extra time with Grandma.
We were south of the path but it was such a long track. I’m just hoping people took and are taking safe shelter.
Thanks, everyone! Truly didn’t mean to make this about me. Sorry, pixy0stix!
The tornado has passed. We literally just got some rain where I am, and it sounds like it kind of jumped over my family. I have one more uncle to check on. It lifted wher it got to the major part of the city, but some of the suburbs and neighboring cities got hit hard. I heard F3, at least, and was possibly 3/4 mile wide. People had debris falling in their yards miles away from the actual tornado!
As crazy as all of this seems, I'm really thinking this is just the new normal due to climate change. And I don't like it.
People talk about this stuff as if it's just a random occurrence when these bizarre weather patterns are clearly linked.
Also, our two basil plants (regular and holy) both bit the dust. I do think the other herbs, tomatoes, and perennials we planted will be ok though. We seriously need some sun though. These plants are not going to hold on if they can't get sun.
Oh, and my mom just texted me that my uncle in Ohio somehow escaped the tornado that went through there. It was headed right for them, jumped up and over, and then destroyed neighboring homes. Thank God because he lives in a trailer and it would have been decimated.

We've had a bunch of severe weather lately. It seems every other day we have had a severe t-storm warning or tornado warning. We had a tornado warning yesterday with one touching down (not by us). We currently have a severe storm incoming right now with damaging winds and hail. And I hate storms
Midwest here. We've set a new record for river levels here, and are going to be knocking on that same level again this coming weekend, too.
One of the neighbouring towns was featured in national news for flooding.
The ground is so soaked that the farmers can't till, much less plant. And the river is so high that any supplies they might need from the river barges (or market for sending surplus) is currently a closed route.
There was a cluster of tornadoes in our surrounding counties last night, and severe storms again tonight. And there were more over last weekend, too. More rain is predicted thru the week, and into next.
So. Much. Rain. Rain and rain and rain and rain and rain and thunder and lightning and rain and rain and rain and rain and....
There are businesses in town that have had to close forever because their access roads have been closed due to flooding for a couple months now. There are normal commute routes that can't be used because the roads are flooded. Goodness only knows what amount of damage has been done to the infrastructure here.
The railroad companies in the area here have had to come thru the area raising their tracks so that they can have trains pass. (and trains have enough mass to handle _some_ flooded tracks, just not as much as they've had here)

Hope everyone is safe. It seems so scary in parts of the country. MI hasn’t had crazy weather lately but our winter sucked so hard I’m glad we have a small break.

Stay safe everyone.
My phone got loud an hour ago about a tornado warning and I wondered why I was getting the alerts for the midwestern threats. Nope, Staten Island’s had a tornado warning for the last hour. We do have a basement. Just seeing/hearing the thunder and lightning now but I am hoping if NJ hasn’t been hit with a tornado then we will be okay.

And earlier I was going to post about how I love this cooler May weather since I hate summer but apparently that’s why we have a tornado warning going on right now so fuck all the weather.
I hope everyone and their people are ok with the tornadoes.
There's been so much rain here in IL. This is the latest farmers have been able to get into the fields in decades and some are saying it may be too late. I just got our garden planted last weekend, which is late for me.
I agree that it feels like the seasons have shifted. It's been so hot into mid October the last few years and so cool into May. It's very disconcerting.
My one coworker lost her house tonight in the tornado. Another lost her barn and all of her trees.
I’m so sorry for your coworkers. I have lived in the KC metro area my entire life and I don’t remember ever being this close to actually being hit. I have heard of some injuries, but no deaths. Hopefully it stays that way.

I was live streaming Gary Lezak at our restaurant tonight to follow along. So so scary.

Of course it is related and the new normal. I work in insurance and every single year our “catastrophic” seasons, between tornadoes and hurricanes, etc get longer and longer.
They have been year long versus seasonal for at least the last 5-6 years and the severity has continued to get worse and less predictable.
We drove from KC to Omaha today and the flooding we saw was unreal.
Was terrifying when the tornado hit my hometown earlier and my sister’s texts weren’t coming thru so we didn’t know what was up.
Tornado was half mile wide and on the ground a long time. Here is a pic of it, will know more about extent of damage in the morning.
Wow crazy. We're supposed to go to Omaha, then KC, then Topeka in less than 2 weeks and if the flooding doesn't lesson not sure we will be able to go. Looks like I-29 between Omaha and KC is closed now.
I'm 100% ready for summer to come to CO. Had to sit outside for 1.5 hours this evening in the rain/wind/cold and we've been home for 2 hours and I'm still cold!
