I have read numerous articles by national forecasters and they all say the same thing: the north is suppose to have a cool wet summer while south is suppose to be hot as hell. and that means lots of horrible storms for the in between.
I got to experience Colorado’s crazy May snowstorm last week and it was ... sucky.
OTOH, we got three back-to-back heavy rainstorms here in California, which is almost unheard of for this time of year (we should be squarely in the dry season by now — average rainfall for May is less than an inch.)
I’ve also heard it’s been unseasonably hot on the East Coast. Crazy weather everywhere.
And yet our hills have already turned brown (or golden)! If we're going to get rain and this amount of rain in May, it would have been nice if our hills stayed green!
I drove back from Tahoe yesterday morning and there were "carry chains over the summit" warnings on 80. We only hit rain, but I wasn't expecting that sign at all.
We’ve been getting rain the basin along 80 in north eastern Nevada, but the mountains are white. And end up whiter after a good storm. I’m trying not to complain as it quit snowing before June. And it’s only rain. But I miss sunshine. My rain jacket is lined with fleece because it’s not normally warm when it rains. I don’t know how to deal with 70 and raining. I live in the damn desert.
We are on our second day of tornado watches. I've lived in the Northeast my entire life and I don't remember this ever happening before. We've had some pretty bad storms come through.
My boss got a really serious phone alert and google is even giving me a warning. My coworker got notice that his kids aren't allowed to leave school. I guess one touched down in Berks County and did some damage, so Lehigh and Bucks are now on high alert. We were asked to take shelter until 4:15.
Yup. We are in Bucks and had to run to our basement twice today as our alert said confirmed tornado, get to shelter. My DD was about to get on the bus but had to shelter in place at the school for 45 minutes.
We also had an unconfirmed tornado last year which was scary as fuck. Our front glass door shattered and our tree fell on the house. You could see the path. It was crazy.
I lived up here my whole life and lived through one tornado in Philly when I was a kid. But we NEVER had anything like this. Never. Fucking crazy.

We don’t have a basement and it was really scary. The sky was absolutely green. The picture of the funnel cloud in Warrington is scary as hell and I’m wondering if that’s what ripped through town here. Trees down all over. I didn’t think we had to worry about that kind of weather here. Ugh.

We had more rain & tornadoes yesterday. The river is now at 45.15 ft, expected to crest at 45.5 on Saturday. The previous record was 44.1 set in 1943. It's normally around 20ft, to give you some indication of how insane this is.
we (Philly suburbs) have our third straight day of severe storm warnings. all have started during evening rush.
i tried to time my commute, but got a Emergency Alert halfway through my drive. I ended up getting home (THANKFULLY) while watching the dark clouds roll in, but in the meantime I had planned stops in my head if I needed them. Like, OK there is big store here, then a few miles away I was driving past the fire station, then a friends house, etc. All the way home. It was stressful.
we didn't get any direct hits, but NWS is out today in some friends neighborhoods to confirm tornado. they got NO warning for their immediate area.

The picture that has been going around is fake. I grew up in Warrington, and it has been all over my facebook today.
The warnings and storms are scary, though. I live near Trenton now, and I got a warning to seek shelter yesterday. It was 5:30pm and the sky was almost completely dark.

There's actual science why that happens! There is warm air rising off the ground that had been heated by the sun all day, which is meeting with the cooler air higher in the atmosphere being created as the sun sets. That creates the instability that allows for the formation of thunderstorms.
I may actually melt. I couldn’t attend the march this weekend because of the heat. I was afraid I would pass out.
It was QUITE warm.

I took my 2 daughters, my younger daughter's best friend, along with my sister and her 2 daughters and a friend of my older niece. Good group, ranging in age from 12-20 for the "kids." But yeah, it was freaking hot.

Ohh, I didn't see about Warrington! My parents live in Warminster on Valley Road where the other side is Warrington. Damn. There was also a tornado in Ottsville two days ago too. Glad everyone is safe!

What I would like is a scientific reason it is gorgeous during the week - especially on Fridays - and rainy as fuck on the weekends. Someone explain that to me because it's pissing me off.

Still hell-like temps and will be for the near future. Saturday starts hurricane season. I’m looking forward to rain but as someone posted above it’s predicted to be unusually dry and therefore hotter than all get out.

Second tornado to touch down in my area in a week. Last week a house a few blocks over was crushed by a tree, this week the damage was a bit further away. We did have to shelter in the basement and my son's school was a delayed dismissal after a shelter in place. I am over this weather!

oh wow. I just googled where it touched down. that's really close to where I grew up. (I mean, 8 miles. that's close for there) My aunt used to work at that Holiday Inn. Our favorite pizza place is (apparently still there) in the clocktower plaza just up the street a bit. (Antonios pizza. if you're ever on the turnpike and are hungry around Morgantown. Might still be delicious!)
Thursday is now tornado day where I live apparently. Two weeks in a row, like clockwork, I get the alert that there's a tornado warning in my county, the schools are sheltering in place and then I drive home wondering if today is the day the neighbor's big half dead tree falls on our house. so that's been freakin' weird. I honestly can't think of a single actual active tornado warning WITH ACTUAL TORNADOS in the time I've lived here. uhhh...11 years. The one last week was about 3 miles from my house as the crow flies. This weeks' was further.
