Wild totally undersells this story. Jared and Ivanka wouldn't let their Secret Service detail use any of the 6.5 bathrooms in their house. As a result, Secret Service members were walking down the street to go to the bathroom at the OBAMA'S HOUSE.
After destroying the bathroom, Obama's Secret Service detail banned the Trump detail from using their bathroom. So they started DRIVING A MILE to Mike Pence's house.
Then the Secret Service had to rent a $3,000 a month basement studio apartment just to have a bathroom. They've spent over $100,000 because Jared and Ivanka don't want their security detail using their bathroom.

AYFKM!?!
You have 6.5 bathrooms and you can't even designate one as a guest bathroom? I'm sure they have cleaning people, so it's not even like they'd have to clean the bathroom.

Moreover, I'm certain at least one bathroom is in an area of the house this is not regularly used by the family (in law suite, guest room, etc).
They only have 3 kids (right?). They could all be peeing simultaneously and STILL have a toilet left over for the Secret Service to use.
Vacuous bastards engaged in grift. Fuck off right on out of DC forever.

Easier to hide your contacts/discussions on WhatsApp and other apps in the privacy of your home if no SS agents are allowed inside. (adjusts tinfoil hat)
I love the parallel in the story. Obamas generously make a space for SS to decompress and use the restroom. Kushners no doubt have a large space and settled on a porta potty outside.
This is what kills me about the story. The fucking daughter and SIL of the President won't let the SS use their bathroom, so they use one in the home of the former President? Disgusting and outrageous.
How did I not know that the Obamas and the Kushners were neighbors? Bet that's a crazy Nextdoor.
Washington DC is not large...my friend lives there and just about everyone has some notable person living nearby. She actually used to rent from the current mayor, who kicks ass.
I am disgusted, but not surprised, by Ivanka and Jared's refusal to let the SS use their bathrooms. I and J are foul human beings.
I AM surprised and horrified to think grown men employed by the SS wouldn't have the decency to be respectful of the Obama bathroom offered for their use. Talk about pigs.
Not really your point....but the SS has female agents too, and women can be equally nasty. Still, itβs awful that they made such a mess that they were banned from using that restroom again.
I assumed it was an unfortunate clogged toilet situation not a deliberate destruction.

I'm firmly in the "no pardon" camp, but I could potentially be swayed to support a non-prosecution agreement (for federal stuff only) with some VERY strict criteria if it stripped him of post-presidency benefits. Like strict criteria that if he breaks any of it even a little bit he can be prosecuted.
As an aside, let's say NY comes through on state court charges and he goes to prison. How would secret service protection work for a prisoner?
Even if those two don't go to jail it is still satisfying that they will forever be pariahs in New York.
Yup. They'd be pariahs in any of the fancy cities they think they belong in. I bet it's why Ivanka wants to be in politics and possibly run for president - she's already lost her friends, might as well become powerful instead.

I immediately thought of the recent article about Biden being picky about his SS detail and picking people he knew from his time as VP because he's wary of Trump loyalists being part of his detail. The mess in the Obama's bathroom might be by a Trump loyalist who wanted to get back at the Obamas somehow. Because I otherwise cannot imagine leaving such a mess by accident that you wouldn't make every effort to clean up. But, I'm not a disgusting person so there's that.
Can you share any details? I don't subscribe to the WaPo and would love to know more. lol
Kushners wouldn't let secret service to use any of their bathrooms. So they had to rent a space for 3K a month so security could use a nearby bathroom. At one point, they used Obama's garage, but Secret Service trashed it, so they had to move. At one point there was a porta potty on the sidewalk, but the neighborhood complained.
"The Obamas did not use the garage, so the extra traffic to and from the command post caused no problem. Yet this solution, too, was short-lived after a Secret Service supervisor from the Trump/Kushner detail left an unpleasant mess in the Obama bathroom at some point before the fall of 2017, according to a person briefed on the event. That prompted the leaders of the Obama detail to ban the agents up the street from ever returning.
The agents assigned to the presidentβs daughter and son-in-law began driving a mile to Penceβs home at the Naval Observatory, where they were allowed to use a bathroom in a stand-alone guard station. If they didnβt have time for that excursion, the law enforcement officials said, they relied on the hospitality of nearby restaurants."
Like WTF? Because of this fucking racist bullshit is why I'm glad Biden has agents he can trust. I hope Harris has a team that has been well vetted.

A bipartisan bill to award Officer Goodman the Congressional Gold Medal has been introduced by U.S. Representatives Charlie Crist (D-FL), Emanuel Cleaver II (D-MO) and Nancy Mace (R-SC).
Agreed. Ideally if a pardon is considered, it should only come after he is impeached (check!), convicted, and disqualified. It might also possible for Congress to disqualify by a simple majority vote under the 14th amendment:
This is where I am. As much as I want to see him wholly and fully prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for every single crime heβs ever committed both prior to and during his sham presidency, I want him barred from holding public office more.
I think he can do a lot of damage going outside public office. He's floated starting his own media company, social network, etc. He'll still essentially be an influential cult leader. He might even have such a good thing going that he won't want to run in 2024.
It will be a lot harder to capitalize on his success if he's behind bars.

The reason for the ban (implied human waste smeared/sprayed all over space), is the most outrageous part of the story for me. While on duty a secret service agent thought that this was acceptable? I really don't blame Biden for bringing back his own trusted team. This just amplifies my security concerns.

THE 20,000 NATIONAL Guard troops preparing for pro-Trump demonstrations this weekend in the nation's capital will be armed and permitted to use lethal force, the headquarters overseeing them says, marking a striking escalation in the way authorities there are preparing for repeat violence after last week's deadly mob.
"On January 12, 2021, National Guardsmen were given authorization to be armed in support of the U.S. Capitol Police to protect the U.S. Capitol and individual members of Congress and their staff," according to a statement from the D.C. National Guard, which is commanding Guard forces in the city, including units deployed from six other states, to provide security for President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration next week
