First time - Secrets in Riviera Maya. Because it was what you did in 2010 lol
Second time - We didn’t really have a honeymoon, we were in Red Lodge for the Christmas week with our families. I consider the long weekend in San Miguel de Allende we had 9 months later to kind of be our honeymoon 🤣
ETA: Oh, why. We were from Florida and lived on the beach so that wasn't super attractive as an option. We made a Habitat for Humanity rebuild post-Katrina part of our honeymoon.
Oh! And re: Disney. I didn’t go there for a honeymoon, but my ex and I went as adults with another couple (all of us pre-kids) and we had the time of our goddamn lives.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
Thailand! We went to Bangkok, Krabi (near Phuket), and Chiang Mai. Neither of us had been to anywhere in Asia and we wanted to do something out of the ordinary for us, especially since we were not having a regular wedding and so wanted the honeymoon to be special. I tend to pick destinations more on feelings than any kind of logic, and I had a feeling that Thailand would be a great first Asian destination. Once I mentioned it to my H, he agreed immediately.
The first time I got married I went to Puerto Vallerta Mexico and while it was lovely, my family of origin likes to do resort vacations so it didn't feel like anything extraordinary. I remember feeling kind of let down that I didn't pick somewhere more exciting for such a big occasion. Thankfully (for many reasons) I got a do-over that was 1000x better - and I didn't even have a blowout fight on the trip with my H like I did with my XH.
We did two weeks in Belize. Felt like a week too long at the time.
A year later we did 2 weeks in Italy, which is what I had tried to convince H to do in the first place. Once we were there, he told me he realized why.
I knew how amazing Italy is from my trips there and knew he would love it. We should have gone there in the first place.
Boston and Maine. We got married in July in Texas and wanted to go some place a little cooler. DH had never been to New England, and I enjoyed showing him around some of my favorite spots for a week.
Hawaii immediately - we got married there. Bora Bora 6 months later because Chase was screwing me over on my mortgage tax escrow and cut me a gigantic check at the end of the year so I figured, why not go all out.
Hawaii- Honolulu for two nights and Maui for a week or so. and we spent two night in Anaheim on the way back so Disneyland for two days. It was a lot of fun though looking back I wish we had done more exploring while on Maui.
Cancun adults only all inclusive because it was cheap and we were young and poor lol. I would definitely do it again though, it was so relaxing and I loved not having to plan anything.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
