I don't get the appeal. I have no desire to see it. My bff was trying to get me to go see it with her and I'd rather drive toothpicks under my fingernails.
Everyone I know is dying to see it but I'm skipping it. I'm just not excited about it. I didn't even like Barbie when I was little. I was more of a Jem fan, lol.

This one isn’t zinging me and the press around it is having an even larger depressing effect on me.
Ryan Gosling’s weird hissy fits, Margot Robbie’s on the nose Barbie wardrobe at events. Ehhhh, I’m just too old and churlish. I hope it’s a wonderful movie for those who are excited about it.
I don't understand why Ken is a 40+ year old man and Barbie is in her 30's. In my Barbie world, they were much younger like late teens/early 20's. I also don't get the pink explosion. This is most certainly not the Barbies I played with but some nonsense version.
I can't figure out from the trailers/promos if it's a kids movie, a movie that looks like it's a kid movie but it's for adults, or something in between.
I’m very excited. I love Greta Gerwig and it’s getting great early buzz/reviews. I’m going to a Barbie party at our local arts theater where we watch the movie and have special pink/Barbie cocktails. I’m making DH go with me lol
Also- I mentioned this to my kids (both boys - 16 and 11) and both expressed outrage I was going without them because they both want to see it. Who knew??!

I am intrigued. In the previews, it seems that Barbie wants to break out of the ennui that is her perfect life. I would be shocked if this is just a Barbie movie like the super Mario movie was about Mario.
No idea but the buzz is working because now I want to see it! DD is seeing it next week for a friend’s 13th birthday. I’ll be curious to hear her thoughts because the least girly pink girl ever. I however loved Barbie though I don’t remember a ton of pink from 80s Barbie (peaches and cream doll anyone?!).

Barbie is for everyone!
Well, according to it's rating, kids under 13 should have parental guidance. (I just looked it up.)
I now look forward to outraged parents who take their 6 yos to this movie and find out it's not G rated, lol!
I won’t go see it in the theater because I don’t go to the theater much these days, but I will totally watch it when it streams. I hates my Barbies as a kid and cut their hair and “colored” it with crayola markers. But I live a city away from Mattel and work in nonprofit and the Barbie team (and all of Mattel honestly) has always been so supportive of local kids charities. I’m glad the movie, and Barbie, is getting such fun press.
I think it looks weirdly wonderful (wonderfully weird?), and I want to see it. I have no clue about a storyline or anything that happens.
The trailer that got me was the one where Ken goes to the Barbie hospital and the doctor Barbie is going on about how he's going to heal really fast and "actually, while I was just saying this, you healed" or something like that. LOLOLOLOL. I was not a Barbie kid, but that is SO true to how "injuries" get resolved in my own pretend play as a kid that I'm sold. Is this like, kid pretend-play translated into a movie? Is there a storyline that makes any sense? I have no idea, but I want to find out.
My 15 year old slightly emo DD and all of her friends want to see it. I think it's a subversive play on the picture perfect Barbie life, at least I think the slight emo 15 year olds hope it is!
I'm excited to see it - have been since I started seeing pictures from filming a year or so ago. I'm all in on the pink explosion. It looks fun and campy in a world of boring Marvel movies. And if it brought hot pink back into fashion, then I am here for it.
I think Margot Robbie had something to do with producing it - so I think she's more involved than just starring in it. As for Ryan Gosling - not sure who else they would get for Ken? He does a lot of indie movies, Gerwig is an indie director, so it seems like it fits.
omg. I hadn't watched the trailer and was feeling very meh about it, but it looks funny and now I really want to see it.
"Have you guys ever thought about dying?" LOL
Yea this was me. I was not into Barbies as a kid but the trailer made it look decent.
My 5 and 6 year old Barbie obsessed girls are desperate to see it - they saw a trailer before Elemental. Like PP we couldn’t figure out the intended audience. Once we saw it was PG-13 we knew we wouldn’t be taking them to the theater to see it, but I’m still intrigued.
