My attitudes toward food safety when it comes to eating raw cookie dough are that of a trumpian anti-masker in summer 2020.
HAAA!!! Same! This was motivated by my younger daughter telling me when she and her friend baked at the friends house, the friend would forbid her from tasting the batter bc “she’d get sick”. DD told me she’d sneak tastes when friend wasn’t looking 🤣
I’ve always told my kids eating batter builds immunities 🤣🤣

I mean, like most things that carry a warning, it’s about the potential risk, not fate.
I do think our society tends to over-blow risk, especially when it comes to germs and food safety (most of our dairy is pasteurized, antibacterial soap is a staple in many households, etc. etc.)
Apparently this is one area where GBCN is actually breezy about this stuff!
I do... Although I've done it less since finding out it's more the flour that's a risk. Idk why that changed things for me.
We also only have one bathroom through, and I'm typically baking with the kids so I feel like I'm tempting fate if we all eat raw batter with a single bathroom lol.

I eat cookie dough all the time. First off, the store bought stuff has pasteurized eggs. But I always have homemade cookie dough in my fridge and I eat that stuff too but you’re not going to see me say it’s never made me s***. (To be clear it hasn’t happened and I don’t want to tempt fate.)
I ate raw cookie dough all the time as a teen. I wouldn’t now but it’s because I’m allergic to eggs. If that wasn’t holding me back I’m certain I still would. I mean what else are you supposed to do with leftover dough on the beaters?
I have gotten food poisoning twice in my life. Chicken from Raising Canes in college on my first date with now-H, and from an improperly handled lime in a mojito at a Mexican restaurant (I assume, since they were cited by the health department for this the following week and that’s the only thing I had different from H who did not get violently ill). Never from cookie dough made in my own home, of which I have consumed a lot.
I’m not sure where this is from but it’s a funny rant about eating leftover food or food that’s been left out a long time. Like some people ate a lot of questionable food growing up because their mother said it was “fine”. And it mostly was but it also trained your stomach.
I can eat the chicken. (My H cannot.) Cookie dough is easy.
I eat cookie dough, brownie batter, cake batter, etc. And not just a little taste lol and I haven’t gotten sick yet.
LOL, that I know this about you! I was like, oh, TR loves brownie batter when I read the post.
I also love dough/batter, etc. I also remember taking small bites of raw ground meat as a kid and liking it, so maybe I’m not the person to consult on this.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
I've eaten a large amount of cookie dough in my life. The only time I ever got sick was because I had used duck eggs. I don't think that was food poisoning though-- duck meat makes me sick so presumably whatever doesn't agree with me is also present in the raw eggs. (Weirdly, cooked duck eggs are fine)

LOL. I have been known to mix up some brownies for the main purpose of eating the batter. I don’t eat, like, a whole box. But it’s not just licking the bowl either 🤣
I bake chocolate chip cookies twice a week (teen boys - one of whom runs 8 miles a day lol ) and always partake a bit of the dough.
I’ve gotten food poisoning a few times in my life, all from restaurants. The worst was from the Hofbrau House in Munich, unfortunately the night before flying home to the states. I’ve never been that sick in my life. Another time was from mashed potatoes at a restaurant. Random!
But recently I found a little shop that sells edible cookie dough, and I buy a couple flavors and sneak a spoonful every once in a while, it's so good.

I used to steal raw ground meat as a kid lol. My mom always claimed it was the German in me (she was German - we love our steak tartare! )
I have to pass by 876 signs that say “this area contains chemicals known to cause cancer” just to get into my office building, and I do that anyways. And raw cookie dough is delicious.
(I work in a bank - everything is a cancer caused and needs a warning in CA, so you learn to ignore warnings)
