I didn’t see one yet. I need to get my butt up and take the dogs to the dog park. Everyone else is still sleeping, so I’m enjoying the quiet though. Haha
We have a huge list of things to do this weekend to get the house in order. I hope we can pull it off. ::Fingers crossed::

My day started off with me in a panic bc my phones SIM card crapped out. I’m out of town and had a limited amount of time fix it. Thank god I was the first in when ATT opened and they were able to just give me a new SIM card. But ugh, not how I wanted to start my day.
It rained, a lot, with wind, lightning, and some small hail. Hail is so much more obvious when it bounces off a window ac unit (which I unplugged in case water seeped in). So unexpected. It was 109 just hours before.

We are having the yard sale or whatever you want to call it. We opened the garage door to let DS check the mail. People started coming in. 10 people before we even had it setup. She sold over $500 this week before the official sale started. We are pleasantly at how much stuff people have taken off our hands.

I made bread yesterday - it was delicious freshly baked and I just toasted a piece with some homemade butter for breakfast. It’s divine.
I got some news yesterday at work and I’m vacillating between upset and furious and I’m trying to contain my feelings until things get confirmed. And I’m anxious to tell my board chair, because while it (if true) is the mistake of one of my direct reports, ultimately the buck stops with me.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

DD woke up with a stomach bug, she also fainted and fell on the floor, so we are stuck at home. Every year it's something when we go back to school. I'm trying to do some packing and cleaning. I had planned to drag a bunch of stuff to the dump and finish prepping the new house to paint, but I don't want to leave her alone in case she passes out again. I really hope I don't catch it.
I have been in my room trying to write a 10-page paper for two hours. I have half a page, the citations (which I technically did last night) and an introductory sentence.
We were at our last middle school/division B Science Olympiad season open meeting ever this morning. It is such a fantastic group. We actually had a team at nationals last year (our older kids, so not DD- but still so cool). We're just this sad underfunded Title I public school going up against charters and private schools with infinitely more resources, it's so fun to kick their asses (hope we do it again).
Next year both kids will be on the same HS team (more or less) for the first and only time! It will be nice to not have to split our attentio, but it will be weird!
We have to empty out the kitchen today for demo Monday. I want to throw it all awayyyyy.
Lucy and my H went out to retrocon today. The boys and I are home and I'm just going room-to-room with big black trash bags. I LOVE THROWING SHIT OUT! and having the two pack rats/slobs out of the house makes it so much easier and debate-free
My son and I went to a little museum yesterday and they had a working typewriter. Watching him try to figure out how to work it was absolutely hilarious!!
He starts school Monday and we really did a lot of fun stuff this summer. When I was off we took little road trips and saw some great, beautiful and weird things. I think I'm ready to get the school year started, but with my eventual return to full time work I'm sad that being able to hit the road has come to an end.
Our plan today got messed up do to the dogs, a storm and other things beyond our control. We had the perfect mix of socializing and errand running planned and now I need to figure out what we are doing instead. I always feel like I need to maximize September and October weekends since winter is such a slog.
Ugh, DS asked for some turkey lunch meat. I buy those Oscar Mayer little tubs of turkey. I know they aren't as good as from the deli but they last longer and are cheaper. Anyway, I gave him the tub to snack on b/c it just had a few slices left. It looked fine at first glance. A few minutes later he called me over to ask "what was the white stuff on the bottom of the turkey" and I noticed the bottom of the turkey, like the last couple slices i the container, was kind of slimy. It smelled okay, I think. I didn't taste it but threw it in the garbage. He said he only ate once slice. He's going to get sick, isn't he
Everyone else is out of the house for the day and I'm trying to motivate myself to be productive instead of wasting my time watching a Chopped marathon.
So far Chopped is winning, but I'm going to leave soon to grocery shop, I promise.
Trying to find a dog is so tough. We’ve tried a few different rescues and although we haven’t been turned down for the rescue per se, the dogs became unavailable after we submitted our applications or they said that the dog we had in mind was not a good fit. The last rescue gave us a list of modifications we need to make to our house (after the home visit) in order to rescue one of their dogs (um, we have small children, a fully fenced yard, and we are pretty on top of safety). We tried the shelter route too and fell for a dog who we later found out (on our 3rd visit and 2nd meet and greet) had major separation issues and would have to have an adopter that basically never leaves the house. I visited the city shelters on my own and found out that there is no quiet and separate place to meet the animals which means it’s a no go for us because ds2 requires a lot of handholding when he’s around new animals.

I bought some premade turkey london broil a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was just bad, but not BAD. By the end I knew but figured I'd be okay. I was so sick. Can he throw it up? If not, warn him. It did not come out the end I thought it would and if there hadn't been a bathroom nearby ... I can't even think about it. It took about 24 hours to hit.
dochas , I was hoping you were just going to say "no he'll be fine" lol. He only had like 1 thin slice. Ugh. I'm sorry that happened to you!
He really probably will be fine! It is just so close to it happening to me i feel like I am questioning every single thing I eat. I guess when you come thisclose to actually shitting your pants in Old Navy it takes some time to get over. HAHAHA! I have never experienced anything like that before!!!!

I had a similar experience a couple weeks ago. DS was having his cousin sleep over and we were going to the movies. I ate a delicious salmon, veggie, and rice bowl a few hours before the movie. I started getting really crampy and bloated shortly after, and then when we got to the movies I had to run to the bathroom and spent the first 30 minutes of the movie having a Dumb and Dumber situation in the movie bathroom. It was really something. Thankfully my H was there too so I didn't have to leave them alone. DS and his cousin just kept asking "what happened to her? is she okay?"
Woke up way too early but read for awhile before I got up, so that was nice.
Second try, but finally got someone from FB marketplace to come get that stupid futon this morning. I'm so close to being able to park in my garage again!
Met most of DD's teachers at back to school night yesterday, and I'm really thrilled with everyone she has. I'm so grateful that the transition to HS has been blessedly easy for her.

I use stream of consciousness writing when I hit a wall like this. Random words, thoughts, curse words... as long as my fingers are hitting the keys I just let it flow. I've processed a lot of crap this way and usually wind up with a few ideas that I can use to build the paper.
Heavy edits are always required to make sure I don't leave stray curses in the final doc lol.

I watch too many crime shows. A man just purchased a plastic chest and rope for the yard sale. My first thought was to sneak a picture of his face. Then he told us his name when another person shopping asked. I need to stop listening to crime podcast
I am having the only rug in the house professionally cleaned - hallway & stairs. Thanks a lot, dog. Plus, all vents blown clean and the dryer line blown clean.

Yeah I call that sketching, (well of course I do) and I block out the paper. Like a less formal outline. “Talk about x here. Transition to y. Bullshit about z here”.

nah - he'll be fine. Maybe have him take a probiotic if you're worried, but in my experience bad lunchmeat is OBVIOUS. If he ate one slice, thought it tasted a bit off and inspected the rest before eating more, I'd say he's good.
There are so many preservatives in lunchmeat. It's not like eating gas station sushi lol.
E has a back to school cold. She’s miserable and stuffy. It’s raining now, so at least she can just rest.
I’m doing my colonoscopy prep for Monday and wallowing. I broke down when DH got home from work yesterday. Every test result that comes in says something different. I just hope they can get what they need Monday.
I thought this weekend would be so busy, but so far the crappy weather has destroyed our plans. May need to take the kids out to Indian for dinner tonight to compensate.
I'm going to try my hand at making jam today or tomorrow. Most likely tomorrow since I need to go to a third grocery store in search of pork butt (not for the jam!). I have never been unable to source pork butt 😕
I think I might make tomorrow a baking/cooking day because I also want to make muffins with the pear sauce I made a few days ago.
But then I also want to spend some time reading. And the crochet bug bit me last weekend so I want to do that. And I really need to catch up on house chores.
And after hitting three different stores this morning I really just want a nap. Everything hurts 😪
