I think I have a date tonight. We'll see. I swear with these online dating apps I don't trust anyone, and until they are actually sitting in front of me, I don't believe that the date is actually happening. It's taken all of 3 weeks for me to become jaded LOL
thank you, followyourarrow for recommending keeping an eye out for Ugg sheets at TJMaxx/Homegoods. I found some last week for only $35 and they're SUPER soft. Way better than the $120 Brooklinen sheets I returned!
icedcoffee OMG why would you google that from your work computer?! I assume all activity from my work computer is monitored by IT anyhow, but would definitely be mortified to have that on my screen in front of someone.
I’m in the “what did we do to ourselves” stage of dog ownership. I’m not trying to wallow in it and trying to remember that there was a point shortly after having each of my kids that I felt similar, but it’s so much. I walked her in circles for close to a half hour trying to get her to go to the bathroom before bed only to come in defeated and then find a mess on the kids room rug, and she’s now able to jump the gates so confining her in the kitchen is no longer going to work; woe is me. Also, everyone in the house has a cold and stomach virus (not Covid), H is on a trip, and despite feeling sick and exhausted I need to go into work struggling to wear a mask all day because I haven’t been in all week.

I had a bit of a mental breakdown last night over Wesley and his school situation. I checked in on his grade book and in two weeks he went from a high B to a legit F. This kid had never gotten lower than a C on a test, let alone a cumulative grade, in years past so wtf. I emailed his teacher begging for help and explaining how Wesley’s adhd makes it really hard for him to work on his own. She was pretty nonchalant and said 5th isn a hard transition but he’ll get it. there are 3 places he needs to go to do one assignment , sometimes 4, it’s so confusing and I know that’s where Wesley’s getting lost, having to, simultaneously use a binder, notebook, and two computer programs.
So now I essentially have to homeschool him after he comes home from public school and my god, I want to run away.

I'm pretty sure I googled it from my phone but I think google syncs up because I am logged into google on my work computer with my personal gmail account. LOL

Weird response, lol. I Google stuff from my work computer all the time. But I guess this is a good reason to stop! I know IT can see what I do but also that they have actual jobs beyond babysitting Google searches by staff
sonrisa, I am sorry you kid is dealing with that. They are lucky to have to in their corner as a strong advocate for them. The other adults in this situation suck.

Yeah honestly, I think it's fine. I spend 8+ hours a day at this computer. I'm not doing anything immoral or illegal. Just embarrassing. LOL
sonrisa, that breaks my heart AND makes me rage and want to break things. icedcoffee I am DYING, lolol. Once when I was in IT I was shadowing a client and she had been googling me. It was so awkward to see my name and picture up on her browser.

same here. I Google stuff on my phone all the time, but I'm logged into Gmail on my work laptop, and the home page is set to Google. So a couple of days ago I opened a new browser tab while I was sharing my screen in a meeting and everyone got to see the roasted mushroom recipe I'd been searching for the day before 😅
I think there's a way to stop the home page from showing recent search results, but the only way to avoid having it show up in the history is to use a private browser window. (And that's just cosmetic really. IT people can still see where you go in a private browser.)

Yeah I was a little surprised because I had just deleted my history and cache and cookies and yadda yadda to try to fix the issue I was having, but google never forgets! Hahaha
I also stopped my home page from showing recent results after a similar recipe issue. LOL

I know I care more about privacy and keeping work/personal stuff separate than most people, but I'm completely horrified by what I'm reading here. Horrified.

Patsy Baloney I'm so sorry it hasn't turned up. It's so weird-- who steals an instrument?? It seems much more likely that someone took it by mistake, but then you'd think there would be a similar instrument left behind and would be easy enough to match to a kid.
I'm sorry that the school isn't taking it seriously. I hope you find it soon.
I went to see P!nk last night with my mom and my sister, and it was super fun! She is superhuman, I swear. Between all the jumping and dancing around and the aerial acrobatics, she is just amazing. And I can't believe she is 44! I was laughing about how she was out there doing all that, and I got sweaty just walking up the stairs to get to our seats. But seriously, most athletes are not doing stuff into their mid 40s and yet she seems like she's still 22.
That's probably my last concert for a while, I don't have tickets for anything else coming up. I've been incredibly spoiled this month with going to so many shows.
My poor niece has strep, which sucks because a large part of the reason why I decided to come down here was to get to see my sister's kids, who I haven't seen since Christmas. She felt pretty awful yesterday, but got on an antibiotic so hopefully will be fine later today/tomorrow. I just hope it doesn't spread through the family. And also that I don't get it. My sister was with her daughter all day yesterday and then I was with my sister all night, so my exposure risk is pretty high. Between that and all the disgusting coughing people on the plane (I wore a mask, but none of the offenders did) I think it will be a miracle if I make it back home without coming down with something.

yeah... I'm in the cybersecurity field. Nothing is private. Nothing.

It's ok to be honest. I'm honestly feeling similar with our dog quite often lately. I do love him, but him having a health issue come up every month for the past few months (and before that, every 2-3 months) has been a challenge, because it's just one more thing to deal with and one more thing to pay for. DH and I had agreed we weren't getting another dog after our last dog passed away in January 2020 (ETA: because we were so busy with work and kid stuff, and it wouldn't be fair to the dog), and then COVID happened, and in a moment of weakness, we decided to get a puppy (which we both now regret, most of the time). Our current dog is from the vet/breeder from whom we got our last dog. She reached out a few months after our last dog passed away to say she had another litter of puppies and asked if we were interested in one. This vet/breeder has since passed away from cancer, and we are left "holding the bag" for our "lemon" dog. At least if she was still alive, we could have either given him back to her or she would have likely given us a discount on his care.

The longer this has gone on, the more inclined I am to believe that it was a targeted theft. There is an extremely sexist bully in her class who she has tangled with many, many times. He’s the one who called her a fucking bitch a few weeks ago.
He is in band. He claimed to have previously broken into her locker. I assumed it was all talk. Now, after the teacher has had a week to check instrument tags and it hasn’t turned up, I’m moving into the territory of believing it was stolen and the bully is the likely culprit. I hope there will be some evidence they can investigate that will help determine what happened to it and who was responsible, but I’m just trying to look forward and protect my kid.

I'm so jealous! One of her concerts is on my bucket list for real! I got sweaty and sore just watching the documentary on Prime about her seeing all the stuff she does! I'd love to be able to take my kid to see her live - her music is what we sing along together on more than any other artist.
If work IT wants to waste their time looking at my google search, then have at it. I just looked and my last question was "what does collegan do." I can't hold all these thoughts in my head all day without a google search. I have two screens sitting right here waiting for me to search all the dumb questions. :-)
sonrisa , I am so sorry. I hope your child find's their people who value them. It doesn't make it all hurt less though.
It is my birthday! Just a young babe of 42. I am working a half day this AM. I did a 60 minute bootcamp with my best friend Jess Sims on Peloton. I am going on a hike in a bit. tonight my son has a XC meet in town. Then we are going out to a brewery for dinner. Pretty great day!

I'm going to see her tomorrow! I'm more excited for Brandi Carlile, but I know P!nk puts on a great show so the whole thing should be fun
Weird silver lining: after two brutal years of DD actively, openly hating me, she now likes me again and it's been amazing. There is a good person in there and I'm so happy that she has come back to me. The turning point seemed to be that she watched me get mauled by dog a couple months ago, which obviously sucked. But apparently it made her realize that she actually loves me. I'll take it.

I have a dentist appointment to have two permanent crowns put in this afternoon, so I’m wallowing in a lazy morning now. My dentist is very thorough and he is incredibly attractive, so not a bad face to stare up at. Picture an even hotter version on Simu Liu! 😍

Ooh I didn't know there was a documentary but I will have to watch it! I hope you do get to see her someday - there were a decent number of little girls there and they seemed to be having a blast!
