icedcoffee OMG why would you google that from your work computer?! I assume all activity from my work computer is monitored by IT anyhow, but would definitely be mortified to have that on my screen in front of someone.
It’s not like she googled "how to murder my husband and hide the body so no one finds it." My goodness. I dont think it’s a huge deal to Google something medical on your work computer. I mean if you’re a private person and don’t ever want to use Google at work that’s fine, but it’s no big deal if someone else does(or of course if you have a company policy). I’m sure IT has seen much "worse" things if they are indeed tracking people’s Google searches that closely. I would not care what IT saw in my Google search history.
Also, Google syncs between phone and computer so unless you’re very intentional about staying logged out even if you Google on your phone the search history shows up on a computer.
I'm working basically from my alarm goes off until I go to bed this week with just a break to walk the dog and make/eat dinner. Trying to get as much done before the shutdown. I'm not a govt employee but I work with the FCC. My boss is giving us free PTO days next week to make up for all the extra hours so I'm looking forward to a long weekend. I'm going to sleep so hard Saturday night.
I went to see P!nk last night with my mom and my sister, and it was super fun! She is superhuman, I swear. Between all the jumping and dancing around and the aerial acrobatics, she is just amazing. And I can't believe she is 44! I was laughing about how she was out there doing all that, and I got sweaty just walking up the stairs to get to our seats. But seriously, most athletes are not doing stuff into their mid 40s and yet she seems like she's still 22.
I'm going to see her tomorrow! I'm more excited for Brandi Carlile, but I know P!nk puts on a great show so the whole thing should be fun
Yay! And that's funny because I kind of forgot that I saw Brandi last night too and she was also amazing. Very different kind of performer, but her voice is just incredible and she was fun to watch, too. Unfortunately we ended up moving seats during her set (they were supposedly a free upgrade but were at a bad angle so we ended up moving back to our original seats anyway) so we missed more of her than we would have liked to. I would love to go see her on her own someday! I hope you have an awesome time.

Today I’m finishing the linen closet. Tomorrow I’m taking my mom to turn her car into the dealership. Then possibly helping my cousin with funeral prep. All of that seems terrible, but I’m actually excited for all of it.
My H is grumpy. He’s tired, has a lot on his plate at work, and is traveling most of next week. But he’s being beyond frustrating to me! And kinda rude. I told him to knock it off and he’s trying. Lol. But not super successful :/

I have a second interview this afternoon for what may be my dream job. I have no idea how to ask about their flexibility/WFH possibilities. I know that it's 99% in office, but I'd like to know that at least they are willing to be flexible for certain things. In the long run, I don't think it matters, and I'll be able to set the expectation that every once in a while I work from home, but it's a weird feeling to just not know. Like, before the pandemic, I would never have questioned 100% in office, but now, especially after a fully remote job, I'm interested in their thoughts/policies on.
Don't worry, I'll google for ideas on my personal computer 😂
I picked up the comfiest oversized sweatshirt last night courtesy of some Kohl's cash I had. I am now WFH in my sweatshirt, leggings, and fluffy slippers....but I ran out of my favorite tea!

How do you know if a headache is a migraine? I’ve gotten headaches before and they got really sever until I had back surgery and then I didn’t really have them that bad anymore but all of the sudden I’ve been getting them regularly again. Like I wake up in the middle of the night with one. or could they be menopause related (I’m in my late 40s)

I google and do all sorts of things on my work computer (like GBCN, shop etc.) I've worked at my company for over 10 years, I don't think anyone cares at this point. It's not like I'm looking at porn.
Years ago (pre covid, when we were in the office full time) we were having an issue with our internet speed/connection. IT looked into it and found that one guy was streaming Netflix and YouTube for HOURS a day on his phone while connected to the company wifi. He claimed he put stuff on in the background while working. Sure, Jan. Then a few weeks later someone found him hiding in the storage room watching his phone (I guess he semi smartened up and downloaded stuff to his phone and then just watched on his own data network, not the wifi). He was put on a PIP and ultimately fired due to not meeting sales goals (surprise, surprise... hard to sell shit when you're watching Netflix all day)

I'm going to PA next week and will be very close to the area where all my former inlaws are. The odds of running into any of them aren't good, thankfully, but my last name (I never changed it after getting divorced), will be pretty common in the area and may bring some questions. All of this is bringing up some stuff for me. We got divorced 12 years ago, but I guess there's still stuff to work through.

I get migraine frequently. They're often accompanied by other symptoms. With mine, the pain is nearly debilitating and it's hard to focus on anything. I also get floaters/spots in my vision, nausea, and dizziness. With my worst ones, I've actually vomited and was bed-ridden for at least 24 hours. I'm light/sound sensitive with mine, so I usually try to hole up in a dark/quiet room until it goes away.

Link? I'm always looking for comfy sweatshirts!
I sized up one size and it fits like the pictures, it also has some stretch and is super soft.
Why did network shows in the 2000's and 2010's always fell the need to do a musical episode? It's so weird, never really moves the plot along, and almost never matches the tone of the show.
This brought to you by my background-rewatching of House, and S7E15's musical number.

I've honestly never thought about this but now that you've said it - YES! SO weird LOL
We had to file a police report against my daughter’s school this week. They do not care at all that her instrument was stolen from the band room.
This may be my most fuck around and find out moment.
That's some total bullshit! I can't believe the music teacher hasn't done something, like check the darn instruments in her down time. I was hoping it would have turned up. My kiddo has had two brand new packs of reeds and his band book disappear already this school year.

Its 66 in the house and I'm pretty chilly but not quite ready to turn the heat on yet since it's going to be back in the 80s next week. My space heater that I've had since like 2003 stopped working today though. I'm sure I probably should not have been still using it anyway. I might need to at least get something to take the chill off whatever room I am in.
I google all kinds of stuff on my work computer so I sure hope they aren't looking lol.

I had to drop something at a UPS store on lunch and there was a consignment store next door so I popped in there. I couldn't believe some of the prices! A Forever 21 long sleeved shirt priced at $49. Ooookkkk....nobody is paying that.

Patsy Baloney Did the school/music teacher at least put out a statement like return it to the band room by x day/time and no repercussions? I'm sorry you have to go thru all this hassle. If it is the bully this seems like harassment at this point. That school better get it together and protect her.
Post by maudefindlay on Sept 28, 2023 12:01:00 GMT -5
Patsy Baloney also I'd be livid if some kid called my DD bitch. If that bully calls her the c word I will personally organize a GBCN march on that school.

paddywagon, I’m sorry, that really sucks. I don’t know what’s going on this school year. Everyone seems extra-feral. The teacher said she had been checking instruments as they came in for lessons this week, but insists my daughter must have lost it on the bus. Except she doesn’t ride the bus. And she had her lesson in the morning, put it in the cubby afterward, and it was gone (book still present in the cubby, no instrument) by the end of the day.
maudefindlay she just sent an email out today following the police report asking if anyone had an extra flute at home or the wrong name on their case. She did say she had checked instruments in the band room and as they were brought in for lessons, but so much more (and faster) could have been done. We involved the police because we had to, and for better or worse we did name the bully and chronicled the bullying in the police report. I hope everyone at that school is having a very bad end to their week 🥰

Years ago I a client had a bunch of domains that people purchased and I had to check to see if any of them were active. One of them was - on a porn site and I could not get the d*ck pics to stop popping up. Needless to say a few minutes later IT was calling laughing asking what was going on.

I stopped by a thrift store yesterday in search of a dog crate. The one they had was $45. I ordered a new one from Petco for $35. LOL

That's insane that you had to do that to get the school to take it seriously! I played in school and if I had lost my instrument (or had it stolen) I would have been so upset!!! They better find it and if the student took it, I would press charges. That is so not ok and they need to be taught actions have consequences.
It's so crappy that the band teacher just assumed your kid lost it on the bus. My kid would have been really upset about that too.
I'm so sorry! I'm so mad on your behalf!
Is there any insurance on the instrument? DD1 started violin this year and I pay for the insurance. I think it said you have to have a police report for them to cover loss/theft, so you may have had to do that anyway.

noodleoo, yes, thankfully we were on a rent-to-own plan and have a maintenance and replacement clause/fee with it. We did need that document for a replacement, but I had really hoped the school would care and help us find it. She had the flute for 3 days before it vanished. She’s being eaten alive at thinking this is her fault because the school keeps insisting she lost it. It’s like they think she threw it in the garbage can after her lesson.
The folks at the music store were so upset on our behalf. I appreciated that someone cared!

I bet the school would care more if it was their instrument that was stolen. Instruments are not cheap. They need to be doing everything in their power to locate and return that instrument!

Poor L. Her body seems to hate her. We finally had things under control with crazy periods, anxiety, adhd, etc. And then she came home Tuesday in massive pain that felt like period pain. But she shouldn't be getting her period because she's on a continuous bcp and she hasn't bled. Took her to doc yesterday, and he was good - took her seriously - thinks it's either constipation or an ovarian cyst. Ordered u/s for ovarian cyst but we couldn't get her in until Oct 10th. wtf.
So now we just wait until the 10th but googling tells me there's not much to do if it is a cyst anyways? Yay women's health care! So she just kind of hangs out and hopes the pain goes away I guess. Ugh.
Our furnace went out last night, so that's great. Luckily my H is handy and determined and was able to troubleshoot the issue. He should be able to fix it for about $110 worth of parts and expedited shipping. It will be a chilly couple of days, but at least it's not the dead of winter.
