The fog was no joke this morning! We exchanged presents with my dad for Christmas and now we are back making bread. In the bread machine which seems a little like cheating but it’s all I have the energy for! We have a lot of cheese and it’s a rye sauerkraut bread and I think they will go well together.
OMG, I'm free! Work and school are done until January, we're cleaned up from weekend guests and the holiday party we had yesterday, and I taught my little pre-k Sunday school class this morning. I'm just chilling on the porch and thinking about maybe folding some laundry.

Add me to the unexpectedly sick group. Woke up feeling totally fine yesterday, but was slightly nauseous around lunchtime, so I only ate an apple with peanut butter. Was still feeling nauseous an hour later (which can be a side effect of a med I take and not totally abnormal), so I thought I should eat some more, made some scrambled eggs, and went to change sheets and do laundry. I barely made it upstairs before I had to run to the bathroom. I was so bummed too because I had signed the kids up to volunteer with me just for an hour that afternoon and was really looking forward to doing it with them, but I had to get dh to take them, and it's a good thing I did because I continued to throw up basically every hour on the hour until 10 at night. I have seriously never been that violently ill. I'm actually wondering if it was a food-born illness from eating at the restaurant for dh's work christmas party Friday night (there was a salad bar/buffet thing with all kinds of chickpea, bean, and potato salads on it that I tried a bunch of, and I'm usually wary of salad bars but this was an upscale place, but who knows?). I've been able to keep some bland stuff down today, but am really weak and sore and can't eat more than a few bites or sips of anything at a time. So now I'm just hoping that whatever this was, no one else in my family gets it!
Leeham Rimeskonapoppy the dog watcher showed up today! I'm not sure what all the timeline was, my neighbor texted me back at 3am my time and I texted her at 7am and the dog person was back then. I had a super bad experience with Rover where I'm pretty sure our dog watcher didn't come by for the 3 days we were gone, so now I'm always on the lookout. Plus our parking spaces are right next to each other so it's easy to see if someone's there or not.
I would pay a million dollars for someone to handle all my family's meals. I have been having a lot of digestive issues and planning 3 meals a day that won't just sit in my stomach for days, while ALSO being fast/easy, is so overwhelming. Almost nothing sounds appetizing to me. I have to go to the grocery store but I'm struggling to meal plan because I can't think of anything that won't make me feel gross. I'm over it.
I got a decent air fryer at bestbuy on black friday for $40 and this weekend was experiment time. Good: zuchini and squash. Not great: apple chips, sweet potato chips. Bad: carrot chips. I'll keep researching online. I like really simple, lower sodium stuff.
Lately I've been noticing some towels going missing. But it's one of those "low key wtf" moments before I pull a fresh towel from the drawer and get on with whatever it is I'm doing. This morning I heard rustling in the kitchen and went to investigate. I open the undersink cabinet doors and come face to face with orange cat who gave me the most perturbed look for interrupting his me-time.
All the missing towels were piled in the back corner of the cabinet. Little twerp made himself quite the cozy nest.
Of course now I want to put a little cat bed in there for him. I can see H's eyes rolling already 😅
In other randoms, after two full years of work, I have just crocheted the last row on a queen sized afghan. I still need to add a border, but this feels like an accomplishment worth sharing 🥳
I'd like a nap now, but I need to get started on dinner. I'm making soup, so if I go ahead and cook now I can have a nice, relaxed evening later 😌

This afternoon was so nice and lazy. DD was entertaining herself cleaning up pine cones in the yard with the dogs, so me and H laid in our bed to watch the Pats suck as usual. They’re lucky that their viewership was boosted by Swifties! I napped through most of the second half then DD climbed in with us to watch the end. H took her to the Dollar Store and to get our grocery pickup and I’m snuggling with the dogs on the couch now. I’m a bit hungover from our night out ax throwing with friends last night so I needed this lazy afternoon!

Ugh. I was very team we’re going small on Xmas gifts this year and then today my older one asked Santa again for a Nintendo switch (which was also on his list but easier to ignore) and he’s had a tough month unrelated to anything he’s done and mom guilt mom guilt mom guilt his $200 Xmas gift will be here Wednesday. 🤦♀️
My friend plays Santa at our mall and I look forward to his dispatches from the front every year. The other day a kid asked for a triceratops who would follow her commands.

Who doesn’t want a triceratops that follows their commands?

DD2 (age 5) keeps asking Santa for a pet pony. I’ve tried to steer her towards a pony toy but she’s convinced Santa is going to bring her a real one. It is really cute to hear her go on and on about it, but she’s going to be so disappointed. 🙈
They’re tasty, but a little bland. If I had been making them for myself, I would have added cranberry sauce, but they’re for BIL so just the turkey and stuffing. I think he’ll enjoy them though.
The dough turned out fantastic. I made a few extra with Nutella and those were so so good.

This is my DS with a dog for the last couple Christmases. Last year I told him that Santa reached out to me to ask if it was okay if he brought a dog and that I said no, our family wasn't ready for one. I reiterated it this year. That way he's not hopeful xmas morning and disappointed.

We see an amazing Santa and whenever kids ask for things like cell phones, he tells them he can only gift them if the parents allow it, because they have to pay for monthly service so the kid should give Santa another idea.
