How much do you give -weddings

I know whenever this is asked the consensus is always ‘give what you are comfortable with’. I have a number in mind but I want to see if others are in the ballpark as me (H always says I’m cheap with my first thought so I’m curious where others fall)

We have a wedding coming up for my cousins child. I am not close with either cousin or her kid - primarily due to age. Cousin is almost 12 years older than me so we didn’t “grow up” together. We see each other at family events and get along fine but that’s the extent of our relationship.
Same with her child - they are 16 years younger than me so never had an occasion to get close really.

Anyway a few details - we live in a low to mid COL area, wedding is local-ish. It will be about a 1.5 hour drive so depending on the time of day we may get a hotel for the night so we don’t have to worry about driving while tired but there won’t be major travel expenses.

Thoughts? How much would you give?

I’d say $200, but I’m used to HCOL weddings.

We had a 150 person wedding in NYC where I grew up. Most of my mom’s family traveled in from the Midwest and gave much less, but I was thrilled to see them, and expected less financial gifts since they were already spending so much to travel to us.

$50-100 depending on what our budget looks like for travel. We spend $$$$ for travel to a wedding H was in. The couple asked us not to give a gift. We gave a $50 gift off the registry

I give anywhere from $50-$400 to friends depending on the relationship. Normal is probably $100. I’d do $50 in this situation.

I haven’t been to a lot of weddings lately (but have 2 coming up this year) but I would do $100. That to me seems like a generous gift and we can easily afford that.

For me personally I don’t give more money to people I’m closer with when it’s come to things like weddings and showers. I usually pretty much give the same but for people I’m closer with I give more personalized things and support along the way.

I always buy off the registry with the aim of spending ~$100, regardless of how well I know the couple.

If we go to the wedding we give a minimum $200. For something like this, we would probably not go and send $100.

I'm giving at least $150 if I'm going, regardless. If not I'd send something off the registry between $75-100.

This. And if I was giving from the registry, I'd look in the $50-75 range.

I haven't been to a wedding in over a year so maybe this is outdated. I usually aim for close to $50 for a shower gift/buy and ship something off the registry. $100 - $150 wedding gift unless we're close with the couple then maybe $200...but I'm in a HCOL area.

Agree that in this scenario I'd lean toward skipping the wedding and sending $50 - 100 max with a wedding card.

Generally we give around $200. We live in MCOL/HCOL.

In this situation I would probably give $100.
