candreco, I just want to acknowledge that I notice how much of the responsibility that you carry and it's a lot and I'm always amazed at how you do it all! Hope that's not creepy but I admire you!
I don’t want jinx it but the grill is out for delivery and our power is back on. Yesterday was just a mess. I even got a call from the doctor’s office about my birth control again while I was calling around to see if anyone was home with power who could hold all the groceries I bought the day before for me.
It was a different woman who seemed to actually understand what I was telling her unlike the last one but who knows?! We will see when my prescription runs out.
Fingers crossed the weekend is better! So much stuff is going on beyond this and all this pushed us over the edge. It is the worst when something that should easy or fun turns into an ordeal. All of my energy has already gone to what I know is a problem! I just want my grill and some power. And for the schedulers to stop calling.
Sick child aside, I'm very excited that it's Junk Weekend in my town. I have a pile of stuff in the basement to put out on the sidewalk and I'm very excited to do some purging.

I have so much work stuff on my mind, morale at our company is low based off of a few things that are mostly out of our control. People are never happy with their pay, which is wildly competitive. We are so flexible with hours, give ample vacation time, don't request that people stay late or work outside of their scheduled hours. I hate it.

I really wish my town did this!!
Besides the getting rid of stuff, the people watching is amazing, because people drive around and take stuff too.

We have regulars in our neighborhood that drive around weekly on trash days and I always love when something I put out gets taken so it can stay out of the landfill!
We’re at the tail end of our DR vacation and it’s been mostly great. The family we are with have kids the same ages as ours (5 & 7) and they use screens a ton (their 7 year old has an iPhone!). It’s been a bummer that every time we sit down to a meal the screens come out for them while my kids just want to engage. Last night we went to a circus show and their kids again were just staring at phones. The show was awesome! Watch!
We are not anti screen time, but to have personal devices and be so reliant on them when there is SO MUCH for the kids to do here is jarring for me and DH. And solidifies our stance to avoid for many years to come.
I bought tickets for the Bugs Bunny Symphony. It isn't until next year but I'm already excited. I saw a performance when it came around years ago and it was fantastic.

There’s a tree just at edge of my patio that has unofficially become a huge crow hangout. Some of them are huge! I know they’re extremely intelligent, remember faces, etc… so I’m always super nice when I see them gathering. I’ll be reading a magazine and when I look up I’ll greet them in a singsongy voice I usually reserve for dogs, cats, and babies ( “Hi guys!”, “Hope you’re having a good day”, etc…).
I want them to remember my face and associate me with positively. I’ve seen Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, I’m no fool!

ssmjlm I’ve noticed that my birds turn their nose up (beaks up?) that the cheap stuff too. I feel like they need reminding that “You get what you get, and you don’t get upset”.
Consider that my Old Lady Bird Club member advice contribution. 😄
There is this steak restaurant that I’ve been looking forward to since they had their “coming fall 2022!” sign out. It opened Monday. I have reservations for tonight. I am 90% vegetarian, but my occasional meat is beef not chicken. Usually it’s Christmas and my birthday, but that has evolved to about once a month. I feel like this is a reasonable compromise.
I’ve been obsessively tracking an order I placed from Hungry. It’s showing it’s in Baltimore and will be here today!! For scoring in fencing, we wear a top layer that has conductive fabric, if you have ever seen fencing, it’s typically silver. Well, they are available is limited colors. And I ordered a pink one. It’s called a lamé. And I plan on singing that it’s a raspberry lamé. It’s going to get its first competition this weekend. My friend in PA needed to boost numbers at an event, so me and a couple friends are driving up (~1 hour). In my new raspberry lamé 🎶
Perimenopause is super. I went from normal 28 day cycles with only 4 days of period, to only getting it every three months, and now this time, after going 3 months without, I've had it for 17 days. It's not super heavy, but at what point do I need to start worrying? Ugh.
I would ask about it as peri can mask other things going on. I wouldn't worry but perhaps get a check up.

I have survived this busy week with less sleep than I'd like. My final session is a no show, so I'm just hanging out waiting until I can leave for the day (10 more min). I'm ready for Friday night!
We're going to a friend's house tomorrow for hot pot which will be very nice. Dog has gone to his dog sitter for the weekend as it was going to be too late a night for someone to watch him at our house. Bliss - not having to wake up tomorrow morning to walk the dog. I might actually get to sleep a bit (or at least, lounge in bed w/o him wanting a cuddle).

It is Junk Weekend in my township this weekend! We have to take ours to the township office (only a mile away), where they have many dumpsters available, but I am super excited to get rid of some stuff.

I actually just found out that my company covers at 100% virtual doctor visits through an app, so I think I may jump on later just to talk to a doctor and see what they say. My OB-GYN office typically schedules appointments 4+ months out.

Have you done "stay interviews?" Might give you some additional insight about why morale is low, if you haven't!
scm1011, our first night on vacation included a restaurant out for dinner after a 12-hour travel day, and S was just so tired, it was the first time in his LIFE we let him use a device in a restaurant. I am with you, screens have their time and place, but you are on vacation with other kids doing fun stuff, put the screens away!
S has a couple buddies who have iphones already (first grade) and it boggles my mind.
Oh we've been there! It’s just bananas that as soon as we sit down 3x a day they go into a phone coma for the entire time while my kids try and talk to them. Like beerlover said, read the room! This morning we were at the beach and they were sitting on a towel playing with Snapchat while my kids had a blast in the water. It just seems like such an addiction for kids so young and the parents see nothing wrong it. Different strokes, I guess.
I love being a 1 car household for the most part, but occasionally it is annoying. On Monday, I want to attend a rally in DC for work. But my H has to go into the office on Mondays, so I will have to make him leave earlier than usual and drop me off at a train station. No big deal, except the rally will be over around lunchtime so I don't really know what I'm going to do after that. Probably take the train back to near where he works and then work remotely somewhere there? Except that means I'll have to drag my laptop to the rally, which is less than ideal. I also could grab a Lyft home but it's at least 40 minutes away so I don't really want to do that because $$$.
Come to think of it maybe I could take the train to the closest train station to home, which is not CLOSE but a Lyft would probably be cheaper from there.
I have so much to do this weekend that I'm already tired. We are going to see Chelsea Handler tomorrow night, which should be fun, and I'm ushering Mama Mia on Sunday, which is also great. But then I have to run a bunch of errands and grade a bunch of papers and do some things around the house, like ideally planting some bulbs and cleaning up weeds in the yard. I hate busy weekends!

It's worth it to discuss options with your gynecologist. My ablation was the best money spent. 9 years now of no periods! (Not everybody has that result, but most at least get a reduction in length and in severity of symptoms).
I feel like I'm in a huge funk today. Nothing I need to do sounds appealing, so I've been procrastinating and even scrolling here and on social media is just blah. I need a nap I think (but of course I can't because...work).

Ooooh! Leave them treats and see if they start leaving you gifts.

When we were considering dropping to being a 1 car household, we figured that even some occasional expensive cabs/Lyfts would be way cheaper than the insurance/tax/registration/maintenance on a second car. Take the Lyft if it's what makes most sense!
I was eliminated from the comedy competition. Womp womp. Honestly though - I expected it based on a just so-so set on Wednesday. The people who got through all deserved it, so I can’t even be mad about it, lol.
I attended my first book club last night! It's coordinated through the library. I fall on the "more socially anxious than not" end of the spectrum and am proud of myself for doing something out of my comfort zone.
