A mom was mad her teenager had to sit behind her because they both had middle seats. She kept saying she was a minor, yeah, but she’s not a toddler. She’s fine.
I bought some cheaper birdseed because the local store stuff is $$, but I don’t think my birds are happy. Ah, old age, lol.
We have a guy coming out today to quote us on putting a deck/sliding door conversion in. We really just use the backyard for the dogs these days, it would be a nice upgrade though.
ssmjlm, my DH says I'm such a travel jinx. I don't travel a lot, on our last flights we were deplaned for hours, even our last Amtrak trip to NYC was delayed an hour.
My morning was crazy. We are going to camp, to open up for the season, this weekend and I was running around packing food, packing clothes, getting meds together, etc. It's still chilly here, but I rode to work with my windows down because I was so overheated. But, I got it all done, so at least it's finished.
We’re at the tail end of our DR vacation and it’s been mostly great. The family we are with have kids the same ages as ours (5 & 7) and they use screens a ton (their 7 year old has an iPhone!). It’s been a bummer that every time we sit down to a meal the screens come out for them while my kids just want to engage. Last night we went to a circus show and their kids again were just staring at phones. The show was awesome! Watch!
We are not anti screen time, but to have personal devices and be so reliant on them when there is SO MUCH for the kids to do here is jarring for me and DH. And solidifies our stance to avoid for many years to come.

My last work trip for a good while (I hope) is in two weeks and then I hope to never see the Atlanta airport for long long time. Like years.
DS's fever is down to 100.4 (much better than 103.5!) but this morning he said his head and throat hurt still and he doesn't seem like quite himself, so I'm giving him another day to rest. I'm taking him to the pediatrician at 10:30 just to rule out strep or anything else.
I really don't think he's ever missed 2 days of school in a row (he usually recovers very quickly from anything) and I feel uneasy about it. I know that sounds crazy on my part and I'm sure lots of kids are out multiple days in a row. I just hope he doesn't have much to make up.
I don't plan to do much today besides hope someone picks up the open shift on my schedule this afternoon and listen to TTPD. I have a million things to do but every single one currently involves me waiting for someone else to do something or respond first.

Tennis was so fun last night. I'm playing mixed doubles with a great group, we rotate around. Different ages and different ethnicities and we are just having a ball. Lots of laughing, so glad I took the leap to join, so good for the soul. I was so nervous the first Thursday or two, but now Thursdays are my favorite day of the week.
We've been keeping our eyes open the past 4 years or so for land/lots to build on and DH has recently amped this up and thinks he has found a lot he likes, so much we met with a builder Wednesday and he wants me to research and call another builder today to compare.

ssmjlm, I'll be connecting in ATL in two weeks for a work trip too. Crossing my fingers it goes smoothly. Chicago O'Hare and Frankfurt (Germany) are still at the bottom of my list of airports.
It's rainy, dreary and chilly here today but YAY for Friday!
I have 3 things I need to return to 3 different places and all 3 are in pretty close proximity to each other so it makes sense to do them all in one trip but I'm pre-emptively annoyed at the idea of standing in 3 lines. All 3 places pretty much always have a bit of a wait :/
My kid is a Swifty (and I do like her music too) so we've been listening to channel 13 on Sirius because it's all Taylor all the time now and she was so excited when we got in the car this morning and they're playing her new album. Apparently they're going to play it beginning to end on repeat this weekend so my kid is PUMPED haha.
scm1011, that's a bummer. I'll admit our DS does get screens sometimes while we're out to dinner if its just the 3 of us, but if we're with other kids/families I read the room and if no one else is using technology, he isn't either. A 7 year old having a phone is absolutely nuts to me.

So glad it's Friday!! I met a group of former coworkers last night for happy hour/dinner and it was great to see them. They were great to work with, but I don't miss the company! (Some have moved on to other employers, as I have, but some are still with the same company, and it sounds miserable.)
The weather is supposed to be cold this weekend, so I will be catching up on some shows on Saturday while I do things around the house. DS has a baseball scrimmage game Sunday afternoon, so looking forward to that.

FI and I got things all sorted out last night. We're under a fair amount of stress, being an adult and homeowner is so much fun, and we just handle it differently.
This weekend we're headed to Mobile, we're having dinner with friends and doing an escape room. Then Sunday morning I drop FI off to do a 10 day school and get a new certificate for work. I feel like I'm packing him up for summer camp.

We leave for Cancun next Saturday and for some reason I'm having a hard time grasping that that is only a week away. I keep thinking "oh, that's at the end of the month" but the end of the month is now lol. Anyway, I need to get on the ball and start packing. I would also like to get a pedicure at some point, but I don't know when I'll have time.
I am nervous about our flights because I keep hearing about all the delays people are having. Luckily, we have direct flights so no missing flights if we do get delayed.

I notified our GS families about our summer schedule and changes to our regular meeting time/date yesterday. I had one family confirm receipt and immediately renew for next year…and it was a family I assumed would quit at the end of this year, lol. Hoping everyone else who has been an enthusiastic participant will be as enthusiastic as my blah family.
But, truth be told, I was kind of hoping I could step down this year and/or the troop would disband 😬 we’ll see. I’m tired.
I will say, DH was adamant we implement a 'no screens at the table policy' in the family for the post toddler years (that's for all adults, kids, and tables at restaurants too). At first I thought he was a bit militant about it b/c it largely affected the two of us. But I'm glad we're living it as an established rule as our kids are getting older and will get phones eventually (ages 7 & 10).
For this reason it does annoy me when restaurants have their menus online....

Also, I decided to try out a peloton rental and it sucks so far. They sent me cleats that were missing the pieces that you screw the cleats into, so I haven’t been able to fully use the bike. They can’t rush ship me new ones because they use a 3rd party provider for shipping. And they kind of don’t seem to give a shit that I’m paying $$$$ for a bike I can only limitedly use right now.
But my H who did not give a shit about the bike of course loves it and his cleats came in perfectly. He’s really fucking up my rage quit here.
Playing the "is it allergies or is it an actual illness" game in my house today, ugh. DD is pretty miserable but also said she had forgotten allergy meds a few days and is just generally tired from the run up to the spring musical at school, DS is vaguely sniffly. No fevers for either of them, and pollen is like visible in the air right now so I'm leaning allergies. Though DD's may be trying to turn into a sinus infection, so also mentally mapping out when I could get her to urgent care without having to tow DS along. Of course if they are sick, I really, really need to not catch it so I don't miss an important continuous learning class AND solo hotel stay next week.
And of course DH is still away, the cleaners are coming today, I'm trying to get ready to be OOT next week, and have a million work things to do. None of this is a big deal on its own but I'm definitely feeling the weight of being the responsible party for all the things. Blergh.
Y'all are making me (more) nervous about my flights next week. At least they're both direct. I'm both dreading this trip because I hate flying and I don't want to leave my dogs, but looking forward to it because it means I'll get to start working on some new stuff at work.
I also learned yesterday that 2 weeks after my trip, some of the big wigs will be coming to my area for a 2 day meeting, which I will be a part of. I bought 1 nice outfit for the trip. I'm trying to figure out what else I can wear to look like a functional adult... sigh.
DS's fever is down to 100.4 (much better than 103.5!) but this morning he said his head and throat hurt still and he doesn't seem like quite himself, so I'm giving him another day to rest. I'm taking him to the pediatrician at 10:30 just to rule out strep or anything else.

DS1 got strep earlier this year (or maybe end of last year?) and was out of school for an entire week. He was so sick. It was wild. He’s never been sick like that before.
We are heading home from vacation today, just about to get to the airport. My company has Monday off next week so I am pumped to get a three day weekend to recover and get my life together. It’s also 2 weeks until my trip to Paris as of today and I am pumped to have another trip so soon! That one is with my sister - neither of us have ever been. I am so excited.

Perimenopause is super. I went from normal 28 day cycles with only 4 days of period, to only getting it every three months, and now this time, after going 3 months without, I've had it for 17 days. It's not super heavy, but at what point do I need to start worrying? Ugh.
I woke up at 2:30am to pee and I'm not sure I fully went back to sleep. My brain was happy to try and fully engage about work stuff. I'm debating a Starbucks stop on the way to work. Something with an extra shot of caffeine.
scm1011, our first night on vacation included a restaurant out for dinner after a 12-hour travel day, and S was just so tired, it was the first time in his LIFE we let him use a device in a restaurant. I am with you, screens have their time and place, but you are on vacation with other kids doing fun stuff, put the screens away!
S has a couple buddies who have iphones already (first grade) and it boggles my mind.
We’re supposed to be flying to Chicago right now, but cancelled our trip because I was overwhelmed by how busy our April is. Last night DH said “I am so glad we’re not packing up right now.” This was definitely the right call. We rescheduled for a school break in October, so hopefully that all works out as a replacement, though we’ll miss all the pretty spring flowers.
Since the kids don’t have school, I slept in. The puppy is just now waking up beside me and keeps stretching and kneading her paws against me. She’s the cutest.
I have a couple of meetings this morning and am considering taking the rest of the day off since it’s slow. Hoping that works out because it’s dreary and rainy here and I’d like to curl up and finish my book.
