I'm at work in White Plains, NY. I got here okay, but I'm worried about the ride home. I'm not sure if I can leave early or not. Not a lot of communication here right now. I just hope I don't have to stay overnight.
Lower Manhattan, a block from the Hudson. Wind seems crazy here but my street is always a wind tunnel. Lots of rain. I'll probably go down to Hudson River Park in a bit to see what's going on by the water, though I'm not sure if they'll kick me out because that's the evacuation zone. And I also want to see if there's somewhere we can buy some food -- we weren't home over the weekend so we didn't get to buy our weekly produce.
But honestly, I'm not concerned about things that will happen to us. I would be pretty shocked if we lost power (and beyond shocked if we lost power for any significant period of time). The biggest concern for us is whether the elevators will be turned off (we live about 15 stories up) and how long it will take for restaurants to reopen.
I hope everyone else stays safe and powered though!

Stay safe everyone!
I'm in northern PA. It's really dark out. It's raining, but not too heavily. No strong winds yet. We're pretty far west in PA, close to the northern Ohio line so I think the really rough weather will miss us for the most part.

Philly here. I took a personal day, but my husband was required to be at work today, so we decided to stay at a hotel a few blocks away from his work in order to avoid a nasty commute. Right now it's just wet and windy. Everything in the city seems to be shut down and some shops are even boarded up. Silly me, I thought I'd be able to walk around and do some shopping today. We checked in last night at 8pm and I'm already getting cabin fever!

South Jersey here, near Philly. It's raining and is a getting windy. The tv is making annoying noises - like static/interference. The drainage channel that takes water to the sewer is flooded. I reallllly hope the power doesn't go out!
Southern NH. It's raining and windy, but it's fairly mild so far. No school or work for me today!
I'm jealous, Fuddy. I'm west of Boston, but I'm working.
A coworked texted me at 5:30 to tell me the office is closed, so I texted my boss to ask about our 8:00 conference call, and he said we'd still have it. During the call, he told our clients we are working from home. Before that, I had been celebrating the unexpected day off.
SE Virginia here, still raining, but the winds have died down. We've had steady rain since 4pm Saturday and our front yard is quite the mud pit. I'm home today, but DH had to go in, his company rarely closes, although they allowed liberal leave today.
Down at the waterfront the storm surges and high tide this morning have caused a lot of flooding, some areas are worse than Isabel.

Bummer.
I'm surprised that both school and work are closed here, but I'm certainly not complaining!

Rochester, NY: everyone is freaking out, but it's just raining. Not sure how panicked we really need to be. If we lose power, I'm taking my frozen breast milk and GTFO.
Arlington here as well, still just a lot of rain. My parents are on the Indian River Bay in southern DE (near Rehoboth) and a lot of the roads are under water.
Alexandria, VA - same as Carrots. H's grad school classes were canceled and I'm supposed to be working from home. That basically means I'll be working for 2 hrs and then sit and watch HP some more. I only started my new job on Wednesday last week so I basically know nothing.
My boss was going to go to NYC until his decision at 12:15 am. Crazy.
30 miles west of Philly here. Windy and rainy already. My university and kids schools are closed today and tomorrow (at a minimum). Everyone has been bathed....charging electronics....and eating a huge breakfast! I just saw some pics from Brigantine, NJ - roads are already underwater
Rhode Island. I live on the Bay but if you look at a map, the bay goes very far north to Providence. We have a hurricane barrier in Providence to prevent a storm surge from inundating the city (like it did in the hurricane of 1938). I am mostly concerned about wind damage (for me personally) and less so flooding. Right now its windy and raining.
I'm in the same area as takeonyou, (and radishes and heliocentric apparently ::waves: and the power is still on. I'm watching the news and have seen that in AC, a 50 ft section of the boardwalk has washed away. Good chunks of the barrier islands up and down the coast are flooded, and it us only slated to get worse.
I have to say I can't stand the fear mongering I've experienced with this storm. Panic helps nothing.
or.... it helps people be prepared and saves lives.
Counties/local authorities preparing people is different and necessary.
People posting on FB "OMG we're going to die! I'm fleeing to another state! OMG There's no more easy mac at Giant!" is obnoxious and fear mongering. No kidding, I was at a meeting yesterday and at the end the person directing the meeting said, "Guys, we're going to get slammed by this. You should be scared." Yeah, not helpful.
South of Boston. DH dropped DS off at daycare and he was one of the few kids there so I got the okay from work (I'm telecommuting today) and went and brought him home. There were about 10 kids at that point and another mom walked in and decided to just bring their kid back home too. They are fully staffed and won't close unless they lose power but maybe they will be able to send some staff home. A bunch of teachers were using the low numbers to do mass toy cleaning.
Arlington here. Still raining and a bit windy like Kari said. I'm not too worried...I'm sad that DH won't be able to get home because all the flights have been cancelled and he ends his day today in Chicago. But if my biggest worry is boredom, I think I'm pretty good.
