We got a call from Con Ed saying that they may shut off our power, please prepare for it, blah blah blah. Apparently everyone below 34th Street got that call.
Our elevators are now off in preparation for power outages though.
Even so, we're in the enviable position that we live in such a high density area that it would take a lot for them to shut us off, and they'd get us back up ASAP I'm sure. I hope all the rest of you are okay and get your power back soon.
We just took the cover off out sump pump. We have a serious drainage issue and we are pretty sure it's our neighbors gutters. *sigh* (this is based on the direction of the pipe). There is a constant stream coming in. Like pouring. Not sure if you can see it here.

I'm home from work today too, although they did try to get me to come in. I'm in NNJ & it's just windy here. Barely any rain. But I know it's been raining like crazy by my job. I don't think we'll be going in tomorrow either.
The lights have flickered, but still on. I do have friends with flooding & power outages. Just hope it passes quickly.
Outside of Baltimore, the wind is starting to pick up and its been raining pretty heavily all day. Still have power--charging phones, doing laundry, and cooking dinner in case power does go out. I am sure it will, just don't know when. Luckily my work is closed today and tomorrow.

We lost power around 3, the wind is wicked and there are tree limbs down on my street. I went to the beach to check out the waves earlier, it was hard to tell it was low tide, I'm in southern coastal Maine.
I just heard a tip to turn your fridge and freezer up to the highest levels...for those of you who still have power, I had never heard that one before.

Suburban MD, just outside DC - lots of wind and rain so far. I think the wind is picking up more now. Apparently wind gusts are up to 50 mph now. DH just took the dog out and neither of them were very happy about it.
South of Boston. I was working at home today with DS. Had the curtains open because a tree is looking questionable. Saw a car dart out of ditch then another going in reverse. Went outside to look and a line was down. Decided to get out of here and took DS to a friends's house to work. But the power was out at work at that point and I couldn't remote so I spent the afternoon checking for email on my phone. I think DS is sleeping with us tonight due to the tree, if it hasn't fallen by then. The power here has blipped but is still going.

So I still have power, but I am watching the news and they are saying that there are 30 foot seas just off the coast of my state and they are expecting an 8 foot storm surge at high tide around 8:30 PM tonight. Luckily Providence has a hurricane barrier so personally it is unlikely that I will be affected, but it sounds like many areas just south of me down the Bay could be totally flooded.
I am just outside Harrisburg. The wind has gotten horrible here the last hour and isn't even near peak yet. It's pitch black outside now which is when I get freaked out bc I can't see what is going on. It's gonna be a long night. We still have power though but I don't think it's going to last long with this wind. Our lines are all underground but they are expecting outages of up to a week in our area.

Chicago checking in to say have a safe night! We're all thinking about you.
Sandy has even reached us a bit. They are saying 25 ft. waves off Lake Michigan and 60 mph gusts of wind. Crazy to think what it must be like there. Hoping all stay safe!
Power is out. First time in 8 years of living here. Water also is off because we're in a high-rise. And I am really freaked out by the building nearby that lost its facade (though our building is a fortress so I am not scared for our safety).
