My husband is just over 6ft and we have no issues when he is in the back of our sienna. It’s not a common occurrence at all and for teens on short drives I wouldn’t let that deter you from the car.
OMG, my twins are in their last year of daycare. I am counting down the days, but also feel like we won't feel as "rich" as we are hoping to.
Whatever you do, keep them away from $$$ extracurriculars. There's a tax hit re kids older than 6, the increase in food volume, activities.... I haven't crunched the numbers but ballet and all year swim cost so much
Agreed! Wrestling for DS2 is $160/month it’s in season and karate for Ds1 is $155/month.
Even doing sports through the YMCA is expensive these days.
We got VERY lucky with Ds1s piano teacher and she only charges $30/30min lesson.
Still that puts us at over $400/month for kid activities …. DS2 hasn’t started an instrument yet & Ds3 isn’t in anything.
So Pepsi is now taking a strategy from Hermes/LV/etc and focusing on fewer, high buying customers? Soda isn't a need, but I don't think I'd ever have called it a luxury good. What's next? Cheerios?
The price of cereal is crazy! Rice Krispies were $5/small box! It’s literally puffed rice so WTF
We eat out once a week with FIL so we stopped our weekly takeout with the kids.
No babysitters for dates =( We have been doing at home date nights for awhile but recently stopped using delivery services and pick up at the restaurant.
Drive 30 minutes to the overstock/salvage grocery store. This saves hundreds of dollars a month just for a drive, less pleasant shopping experience & double checking dates.
DS's 9th birthday is Friday. We're doing a family dinner on Saturday. My parents are driving in from SC for the weekend. My Aunt & Uncle can't come (my uncle farms and is harvesting). My MIL & FIL are TBD - apparently MIL got shingles about 3 weeks ago (DH never mentioned it to me lol) so no idea if she'll feel up to it. SIL and Nephew are also TBD (her husband's aunt passed and they might have to travel out of state to the funeral, but they aren't sure yet if they're going). I feel bad for DS - I don't know if it's time of year or what, but attendance to his birthday events always seems spotty.
Anyway, my Uncle is sending me a check so that I can buy gifts for DS. I have a couple ideas, but need one $20-25 thing. DS mentioned a very surface, passing interest in Dungeons and Dragons. I found a "starter set" on Amazon but I have no idea if it's worth a damn. I'll take any links or suggestions
blondemoment123 that is such a hard thing to deal with. Ds1 doesn’t like recess because he’s not interested in sports. His teacher won’t let him draw because it’s a solo activity but they bring a board game out so other kids join in. Is that a possibility?
What?! Why isn't a solo activity acceptable for recess? Drawing or reading a book should be perfectly acceptable recess activities for kids who prefer those things. Recess isn't supposed to be PE.
In our situation, it’s because it’s one of his IEP goals to stop only talking to teachers at recess.

I saw a midsized blogger with this Abercrombie skirt and it’s exactly the kind of piece my wardrobe is missing since I can wear it year round and dress it up or down.

I desperately want to renovate our master bathroom because it doesn’t have a bathtub but there are other things we need to pay for BUT some insurance policies will cover the cost of the tub & install if you have a prescription for hydrotherapy which I do! So cross all crossables BCBC does!!!
A parent stopped me in the carpark this morning to say he needed my help. Apparently his kid has awful handwriting and the teacher told him to talk to me about it as my son's used to be awful but has really improved so I may have some ideas to help them! I was so happy that our hard work with DS1 has been recognised - he is a bright kid whose mind goes faster than his hand and we have just had to really work with him about slowing down and thinking. It seems like this kid is similar so was nice to talk to someone about it
If you have any tips for me I’d love to hear them!
ohgillian It’s not holiday related but black & whites are the best cookie and I can’t go to NYC without getting some.
I follow a few Jewish influencers on Instagram and one mentioned a kosher bakery she goes to for special occasions. I’ll go back through her posts and see what it was!
My sons soccer team is sponsored by the dive bar in town that no one will ever go into because you can smoke in there and there’s fights, etc. We think it’s hilarious. I posted my sons soccer pictures and said something like “representing X town’s finest establishment.” Well, forgot I was friends with the programming director of the community center and she just commented on my post “feel free to sponsor a team next year, we are always looking for sponsors” so now I feel like a complete asshole. I was just trying to be funny and not denigrate the program in any way. 😕 IDK if I should respond and apologize or if she’s taking this way too seriously.
She is a weirdo. I’d ignore it.
Exactly. What’s weird is that she would let a place like that sponsor a kids team.
