I have no advice because my dad is very similar to yours. It sucks, but it helps me to think about loving grandparents as a nice to have rather than a need for kids. My dads dad didn't show much interest in me or my sister either and it wasn't a big deal to me growing up because we didn't see them much, and as an adult I can recognize that the issue was with him and not me.
OK now I feel like an idiot, lol. I was looking on third party sites that were less than helpful. Not sure why I didn't think to look at the page for the actual club. Thank you!
I was going to suggest shirt and pants, but others seem to have better ideas. Do men worry about dancing attire? I never heard of this.
I just want to make sure he's let in the door! I saw somewhere that he needs a collared shirt, but does that mean a polo shirt is ok, or does he need a button down shirt? he generally dresses really casually, and I usually have no input on his clothes, so I'm clueless about men's fashion in general.
We are going to Las Vegas for the first time next weekend, and are going dancing on Saturday night (most likely at Tao) but I'm clueless about what my H should wear?? PIPs to get me a general idea would be helpful.
I have been, for anxiety/imposter syndrome issues related to my last job. It really did make a difference for me and I would absolutely do it again if I felt I needed it. I'm not sure how effective it would be on kids, but it can't hurt!
ETA: Mine was through a regular therapists found via my EAP, so no cost to me. Maybe worth looking into!
I was quite visible, as I was talking with a friend's son right along the sidelines. He was laying down resting and I bent over to joke with him about his mom not bring a pillow or blanket. She left to go to the McCartney concert and we were talking about that. Visible enough that I took a bow, basically. lol.
I'm on the Snohomish county side of Bothell. I *THINK* we're going to be in Bellevue for some reason (which is King County - but our Leg. District covers king and south Snohomish). I'm not a delegate or alternate but I might still go. I've come this far so even if I don't have a vote I can still help and watch and listen.
But my girl won, handily, so I'm happy today. Except for the eye doctor appointment...but I get to go to a luncheon after that if I get out in time.
We'll have to do a GTG sometime. I'm trying to pull one together for August at the Mariners. Which reminds me...
Are you Legislative District 1? If so, I was there too. I live close to Bothell in sno county. I booked it out of there as soon as they said all the delegates were accounted for, 4+ hours was plenty and at that point I did not care who they elected to the May 1st caucus. I was getting so annoyed by the speeches that at one point I just went outside and read on my kindle app. I was happy to be there to support Hillary, but never again!
I currently have some pot cookies in my freezer, but they aren't labeled or anything. They are from a legit dispensery (I'm in WA), but is it too risky to try some? I've smoked pot twice ~12 years ago so I'm not experienced at all! What do you guys mean by a little bit, like 1/4 the cookie? 1/8?
This makes me think of the 16 and Pregnant episode where the expecting parents were shopping for a shed to live in. They couldn't afford it so every once in a while they would go look at the one they wanted.
I once made a comment about how my bf (now H) didn't want to adopt a child from China to a customer at the store I worked at. He was with his two adopted Chinese daughters, and to this day I feel terrible about it. I don't even know why I said it, I had never discussed the possibility with now H!
When I was about 6 weeks pp I went with the baby to watch my H play softball. He was sitting next to someone I hadn't met before, when I walked in front of the bleachers they were on the guy turned to my H and said "ah, yoga pants. Gods gift to man." My H told me about it later, I still think about it when I'm having an insecure day.
Hamilton is ruining my work days. Headphones are not really ok in my office and I can't get the songs out of my head! I too have a weird medley running through my mind at all times, today it was Helpless and The Room Where It Happens.
I grew up on skim, actually some garbage called skim supreme which was skim with thickeners (gross) but now can only drink whole. My son drinks straight half and half since he needs the calories, and we use 40% fat cream in our oatmeal and most cooking. I think the only reduced fat dairy product we eat is mozzarella since its easier to shred. Full fat all the way!
Because of this thread, I listened to the entire soundtrack while doing yard work today. SO good!! And I feel like I got a lesson! I put it on for my 2.5 year old, and he was singing along to You'll Be Back
I loved last night's episode, and agree with everyone else that most of the characters are totally unlikeable. I wish they would show more of Adam's sister and her boyfriend (can't remember his name).
We had 4 Bernie to 2 Hillary delegates. I'm in the burbs so less hippies, but I was the youngest Hillary voter in my precinct by about 30 years. I'm a delegate for the next tier. Everything was very civil, but the people leading and counting votes were morons.
We have an ongoing fight about where to store our emergency supplies. I think they should be in the laundry room, which is small but has enough room for us to sleep, has a toilet and running water, and would be easier to seal off in the event we need to shelter in place. He thinks they should be in the adjacent large unfinished storage room, and we can just kick through the wall if we need to use the toilet.
Ok, so if you have to stay confined and you opt for the unfinished storage room, what happens when the security of the room with the toilet and running water is compromised before you've kicked through the wall? Then you're super fucked. Your H is WRONG WRONG WRONG.
The only way he has a valid point is if you guys get real, super serious about this and just take down the wall now so it's already one room in case of emergencies like this haha.
Right?! His plan is especially terrible because the sink, toilet and washing machine are on the wall that's shared with the storage room. So he's going to kick through it and hope he doesn't bust a pipe in the process.
