I'm really bad at secrets. I told basically everyone except FB before.
But wasn't your mom really unsure about the whole grandma thing before? Glad she's coming around!!
She's been so great! Checking in every few days just to see how I'm feeling, etc. I think she was just in shock at first. I mean, it's big news for anyone to take in, right? But now she's all gung-ho about coming to visit and baby names and announcing she's going to be a grandma. The change has been really wonderful and really adorable.
You can if you want to, but it's not important. We didn't start teeth brushing until maybe 10 mos, and we had most our teeth by then. She's had two dentist visits so far, and have healthy teeth.
Okay I'm still doing late night rambling via mobile (I'm also still on vacation an hiding in the bathroom at the moment).
So as for the morning posts, when we first split, there WAS pushback regarding us talking about not sleeping, etc. people were tired of hearing it, and asked if we could cut that part out and post that part on the parenting board. The main reason we split wasn't bc of the "10 stroller posts a day" (which there never were), it was bc we had some people on here who were struggling with IF. If I remember correctly, somebody told me I "didn't fucking get it". (Obviously I'm one of the ones with hurt feelings over the split). At the time we had @ designated posts, which IF people could skip at their leisure, but that wasn't good enough, bc it was everywhere.
Like sarack said, the non-parenting posts I can hardly get into anymore bc I don't go out to fancy restaurants, drink wine, buy $4 cupcakes, use makeup, shop for something besides baby gear, and I'm definitely not having sex (I know what happens when people have sex).
spunbutterfly, I don't know who it was that said stuff to you...I really hope it wasn't me, and I really don't remember having too many baby threads, but maybe that's cause it's me.
I really just want the parenting board to be popping again. We had a great community in it's prime, and it's hard for me to keep it up while I'm out. I don't want this new latest wave if pregnancies to not have a home to go too because I love this home and I'm sad to see it go.
A lot of good points have been discussed... I voted no, because I like having the place to talk about leaky boobs, and never sleeping at night. That's pretty much what my morning posts usually consist of, and is my life lately, and for the rest of my life, I will always be a mom and have this obsession with breastfeeding. I have very few childless friends IRL, and just find it hard to relate to childless wonders these days. Nothing wrong with being without child, we just have different lifestyles.
As was mentioned before, when we first split, I hate needing to censor myself when I talk, so that separate place has been great. As for needing the poke to come back here, I suppose I could, but really I don't have the time to keep up with this non-baby board anymore. It's too busy, and I'm too type-a to let posts go unread, so it was easier for me to abandon it altogether. Plus I'm super lazy, and via mobile, it isn't easy to switch between the two, and like I said, would require censoring.
The baby board has been DEAD since sarack abandoned us!! And I've been away on maternity leave, and we are usually two very active posters. I would just love-love-love to get the parenting board back in business. I go back to work in two months, and I don't want to go back to cobwebs on the board!
We did BLW and it was really easy. Whole/fresh foods take very little time to prepare (sliced avocado, beans, bananas, etc). We put it on the high chair tray and let her have at it while we were eating dinner. If we went out, we'd bring boiled carrots or something less messy. We weren't worried if we didn't have time to do it or forgot.
Some things can be made/sliced in advance, and packaged in Tupperware or a Baggie and kept in the fridge.
stretchad I wouldn't do whistler with baby just cause it's a long car ride and nursing/diaper changing logistics. But that's just me. We've done lots and lots of travel with bjl. Only once we went without any family help and rafts when she was 4 months old (super easy/non-mobile). It's totally worth it to bunk with your mom for an extra hand IMO.
Traveling with two toddlers on a long flight is HARD!!! We are in Hawaii, with our neighbors that have kids the same age as our kids (that's how we became instant friends). The two kids could not sit still at all and all they wanted to do was jump and climb over seats. OMG. That plus time changes, skipping naps, picking up luggage during bedtime, we didn't get to bed until midnight local, 2am Seattle time. It was rough, but I'm alive!
I currently have two babies sleeping on me. One using a boob as a pillow and one using my stomach as a pillow. And I need to pee pretty badly.
I'm annoyed, but it's not their fault----my parents both have colds and "don't want to hold the baby"....several months ago (I think we booked in August?) we invited my parents to come to Hawaii with us. We said we'd pay their way with the understanding that they are there to help us babysit and help us enjoy our vacation as a family thoroughly. We intended on having my parents babysit at the beach while hub and I snorkel, take turns in holding/entertaining during meals so we can still enjoy eating out, etc. not their fault, but justified in being annoyed, right?
How many weeks? How are you feeling? Anything new and/or exciting? When was your last appointment? Next appointment? Any name ideas you'd like to share? Guesses on girl/boy?
Mommas:
How old is LO? What's new and/or exciting lately? Why is being a mom stressful this week? Why is being a mom worth it this week? Why is your kid crying these days? Is your child named after anyone?
TTGKTFU ladies:
Where are you in your cycle/how long have you been TTGKTFU? Any signs/symptoms? When was your last BCBC? Were you fertile? Does your family have "family names" that people like to use/pass down?
Let's see those pictures! (yes, TTGKTFU ladies have pictures too. we do like to see your pretty faces and your furbabies, etc).
Good morning! Sorry the house search isn't going well picksthemusic! How's that one dream house with a beautiful backyard? I have a few other friends shipping in your price range and it is hard!! Lots of over bidders.
So yes, bjl has been sick off and on for a whole, but she was symptom free for nearly two and a half weeks. Starting Sunday, she got a cough back, and by yesterday, she had shortness of breath, congestion, and vomitting. I have literally slept less than 3 hours all night bc she has been up crying. I'm hoping she can spend the day sleeping today, we leave for Hawaii tomorrow!!
@lauralynne nope, no IUD before. I have mild cramping right now and I swear I feel the strings when I was walking (but not anymore)..it was pinchy/pokey feeling. My leg is all whacked out from nerves (it does this sometimes), once that settles, I think I'll be fine.
The whole idea of birth control is kinda weird for me now. I haven't been on anything since mid 2010.
I put him down for tummy time last night, h and bjl were playing. I left the room to grab my sandwich, one minute, tops. I come back to the boy and he was flipped on his back..I asked h if he saw it (he was 5ft away), and nope, he missed it too. And now he won't do it again.
mrslefty, where did you do gymnastics? I was jr Olympic
Tumble Town. I stayed even after the head coaches took the team and started Metropolitan. That was probably a big mistake but the owner gave me a job coaching the little kid classes when they left and I was interested in the money Those of us left didn't have a real solid team coach for years.
My cousin is a coach at metropolitan (and has been for 10ish years). He teaches hs/adult girls and young boys. How long ago did you teach kids?
1. Will you be watching the game? 2. What are your plans (where, with whom)? If not watching, what will you be doing instead? 3. Favorite game day foods? 4. Favorite game day beverage? 5. Will you be wearing Seahawks attire? What about kiddo (bonus points for pictures!)? 6. Favorites sport, teams etc.? 7. What sport(s) did you play growing up? Now?
1. No 2. I was at the wedding show helping out a friend. 3. Nachos, wings, fried anything. 4. Pepsi/coke. I don't drink soda often, but during junk food binges at football, it fits in. 5. No, there was a dress code for vendors at the show. I even out the boy in business casual wearing a polo . Bjl wore seahawks gear, but she was with dad. 6. Little league anything 7. Gymnastics, figure skating, swimming (funny, cause I still can't swim more than a doggie paddle).
Woohoo stretchad!!! We haven't yet, either, but I'm not nearly as deep into it as you and cdmay. I get my IUD in on Monday- I'm afraid that means I might have to start giving it up again soon.
Yes you can. Raw sushi is frowned upon for bacteria and you should just avoid high mercury fishes (shark, swordfish, sometimes salmon). Otherwise it's fair game. All in moderation. I ate raw sushi while pregnant...and raw oysters. And sandwich meat. My kids are cuter than your average. It's definitely a correlation.
My last day with two kids by myself...bittersweet, but mostly sweet (and I feel bad about that). IL's come back on Sunday. I seriously have no idea how people raise kids without help.
I'm working the wedding show tomorrow and I'm kinda excited. Helping a friend/baker pass out cake samples.
Other than this, not much else going on in my life. Have a good day!
This seems like a great age to take her, bjl was just a bit little when we went. What rides did you go on without G? We went with bjl while pregnant and I don't think I was allowed on any rides she wasn't allowed on.
Ummm...lol, I guess I'm a 2nd time pregnant who's been ignoring warning labels . I went on Space Mountain, CA Screamin, Star Wars tours, Soarin over CA, Autopia, the Cars ride, and Luigi's bumper cars without her. I didn't bother asking/checking which rides they said weren't for pregnant women.
Yep, you aren't technically allowed on any of those . I'm a little jealous now of how much fun you had. When I went I just paid 90 bucks to be the babysitter.
We are going to San Diego end of March, and we are thinking about Disneyland for a day trip and I am making hub sit out all the rides with bjl
