Yep. Lived with 5 other people who had friends & significant others over all the time. Kept finding half-eaten food on the floor in the kitchen. Thought I just lived with savages--nope. Instead we had squirrels living in the house with us.
I do think its crazy that she saw her front door wide open and still went about her business. Imean, the little blood in the sink wouldnt have set me off too much alone, but the open door would have...but the arrogance of youth is strong.
I saw (and ignored) a lot of stupid things in the dorms when I was a CA (or RA, depending where you go) and 20. Things that depending on the circumstance could have ended badly, but I naively assumed that bad things wouldn't happen to me or my residents.
Even when I was 22, living with other people, you just assume that they are awful pigs. Granted, my experience was half-eaten food left on the ground and later found out it was squirrels, but you ignore a lot when you are partying, hungover and in love.
He didn't like it very much either. I think the people that entered his house were getting ready to build next to DS (and they broke ground this past Friday).
I think what bothers me most is that it's people in the neighborhood who already have houses built and are just being nosey trespassing a-holes.
In your case it is your house so you could require that it be secured but I think that would have had to be in the contract with the builder at the time you negotiated with them.
Our contract was pretty minimal and shockingly casual. My H will call the builder on Monday and see what can be done. Otherwise, we live with snoopers and give them an evil eye if we catch again.

Yes, we own the lot and carry the construction loan with insurance.
There are no locks on the doors yet--my husband thinks that won't happen for a few weeks.
It's a 2 acre lot in the middle of the country, so it's just the people in my tiny neighborhood who are nosey. I don't want to start drama, but it bothers me.
I could put up a sign, but you're right, there's nothing I can really do about it.

We went to visit our home that's being built and some of our new neighbors and their DOG were in our house. I'm pretty irate.
I get snooping around when it first starts, but we have windows and doors, so they actively pushed open a door to go inside. I'm not OK with this.
I just smiled awkwardly at them as they told me all of the neighbors congregate in my garage and some others apparently joked about a fridge in there.
Should I suck it up or should I passively aggressively post something? The odds of this run in again is low.
I should have said something in the moment, but in my shock it wasn't in my nature to be rude to adult strangers. (I'm 31, I suspect these people were late 40s, early 50s).

Trust me, I have 3 beagle mixes and they are not happy with a yard that isn't fenced. They can never not be on a leash and electric fence is a no go.
I would recommend a dog that is 8+ years old that another family ditched because they wanted a cute puppy. Most older dogs aren really easy to handle and want to love and be loved, especially by kids.
We just got thermatru doors that were paintable, and the trim doesn't stick out at all.. Ours was the smooth star line, which is fiberglass. They also have a steel line, not sure if the paint ability of it tho. We used a local lumber yard that orders/distributes for thermatru. They even recommended local handymen to install.
We'll have these in our house too when construction is complete. Holds up in Wisconsin weather well according to our builder.

I'm in the process of a build.
We decided not to do turn-key (builder carries the loan) because of the extra finance costs plus less flexibility with making changes during the build.
We purchased our land and went with a custom craftsman ranch. It's not a huge house--but different enough to others in the area. Since my husband is a vet, we found a great loan officer that set us up with a construction loan that will be refinanced into a VA loan.
We are 2.5 months into our build with about 1.5-2 left.

Dogs are pack animals. I bet she's just lonely. I hope moving her crate into the room with you will help. Especially she's used to taking care of you and now that you're pregnant, she prob wants to make sure you are ok at night too.

I will now have "She's got a girlfriend now," stuck in my head.
I love stand-up. Norm was really awful on the last season of Last Comic Standing--like awful meaning old and slow.
Bob excessively swears to be funny and it's not funny. Don't get me wrong, I'm as crude as it gets and love a good dick joke (and cruder), but I hate the swearing as trying to be funny.

This brand legit kills. Legit.
Our rental has rabbits in the backyard and the dogs will pick up one or two sometimes while out and I just spray this on paper towel and the flea INSTANTLY dies. I've also bathed them in the shampoo.
I've sprayed this on our couches, carpet and dog bedding and nothing was stained.

I'm building a house and we'll be at the finishing stage soon!
Is there a guide for lighting sizes for a room? For instance, if I like one of those chandeliers for our entrance way, how could I tell it would be too big (or small) for the space?

I've sprinkled DE in rooms--all over the carpet and furniture. Left it over night and then in the morning vacuumed. Then I would rub it into the couches and carpet.
I've also rubbed it into the fur of my dogs and sprinkled it all over my yard (we had a very small lot at the time). However, since I have beagles, I would do this when we'd leave for the weekend or I knew it was going to rain hard overnight, because it can ruin their lungs if inhaled.
We're in a rental right now while we have a house being built and there are TONS of rabbits in the backyard. TONS. I see at least 3 every day. So the dogs pick up the fleas from the grass and I can't really do anything, since we rent.

I love all of the Wisconsin talk!!
1. I live in the Oshkosh-Appleton area, so we have a decent mix.
2. 9.9 times out of 10, I go to a local joint. For a quick to go, I default to Qdoba.
3. I have an old fashioned blog (see link), so of course I would want to take you to a good Wisconsin style super club--like Red Ox in Appleton or Cedar Lodge in Malone (tiny town).

I plan on getting the ecobee3 instead of the nest when our house is built. I've heard the nest is not an Apple-friendly product and we use mainly Apple phones and computers
Update #2: As of this morning they moved a second car in front of our house. They parked it with the bumper exactly even with our driveway. I could not be rolling my eyes harder at these people.

I liked your post because it was an amazing bedtime story with great photos. Super appreciated.
While I like to pretend to be tough, I'd be your husband in this situation.
However, if money isn't an issue, I say you set-up a trail cam. Leave the cars there. And catch them in the act of fucking with your recalled cars and then sue them.
I'm white, but I hate nothing more than white trash that are blatantly acting superior.
