We all survived peanut challenge day 1, with no reaction at all from G. I'm pretty sure she had the placebo. Bracing myself for the real deal on Monday.
Somehow DH got X to bed on the crib mattress in G's room tonight. I keep waiting for him to wake up. But FREEDOM! But I miss him...
I can't remember the last time I watched non-kid tv. It's just not something that occurs to me to turn it on. We do have a tv but since zero wasn't an option I put don't have one.
We just started reading a series about a cat named Jenny Linsky. It was written in the 40s or 50s and we both have been enjoying it. Our library has a bunch of them.
We let G have coconut even though we avoid all nuts. It's not a nut but since the FDA has (mis)classified it as one I agree it's better to ask. Thank you for being so conscientious about checking!
Big hugs jnoellee. You are doing a great job getting her all the help and support you can, as well as a great job with your other 3 as well. I hope soon she'll be progressing towards her goals with more smiles and less tears. In the meantime I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Tomorrow morning we take G to the children's hospital for her peanut challenge. She gets either peanut or placebo tomorrow and the other on Monday. I'm really scared what her reaction might be, what if they can't stop it. No one has had lasting damage from this food challenge thus far, but what if my baby is the first? I feel really awful that we're purposely poisoning her
We donate everything to Goodwill. Where we live there's not a lot of car traffic and no parking so it would be annoying for my neighbors. Plus if you itemize deductions on your taxes, the amount you can claim as charitable contribution ends up being not too far off of what people pay at yard sale prices, for a lot less work.
If MIL wants the boys' clothes for your SIL many years from now and you don't want to sell them/donate them yourself, I'd give them to her to keep at her house.
It generally is horrific except when people come over and when we have to prepare for the cleaning lady once a month. I have thought about canceling her but then I think we might never tidy at all
We did cancel our cleaning people. We don't clean, nor do we tidy...
G started 2 weeks of Monday through Thursday swimming lessons on Monday and the pool was closed for "unexpected maintenance" both yesterday and today. I hope they schedule make-up lessons or refund some of the fee!
It depends on the exact dimensions of your cubes but I've found that the 3 sprouts fabric storage boxes hold their shape better than our other fabric ones. But...they're still fabric. Also they are bigger than the typical fabric boxes and just barely fit in our IKEA cubes while the normal fabric ones fit with a bit of space to spare.
I think I've seen wicker-like ones that seem sturdy (but still collapse flat) at IKEA. We don't have any of those kind.
I agree that you handled it really well both in the moment and helped him have words to use if/when he hears something like that again. Sharing your values is exactly the right thing to do, and it's ok to be upset and shaken to hear that.
Mine is neither clean nor neat. Upstairs is a disaster with clothes in piles on the floor, downstairs has jackets, backpacks, shoes, and toys everywhere. Sigh.
I've only had DH gone for 5-6 days at a time, but I do often find it easier when he's gone! I know I have to plan ahead so I make sure I know what we'll have for dinner, I grab bath towels and PJs before they get in the bath, etc. For me solo bedtime often means they both fall asleep in my bed, but worse things have happened.
As for schedules, my job has a lot of flexibility so I make arrangements to go in earlier since it's easier for a sitter to cover mornings than evenings at our house. Not sure if that's something that might work for you.
The kids seem to realize that there's only so far they can push when it's just me at home, and if they don't realize, I tell them. We have fun, but I also ask a bit more of them in terms of picking up after themselves, packing things in their back packs, or whatever I need.
Hugs honeybee503! I'm really glad she had a great time and I know she's going to do wonderfully in pre-K.
G does the same thing as N saying she doesn't know things in front of strangers, and she's been in daycare her whole life. At her 4-year-old checkup her doctor was asking her what various words are and he had 1 she didn't know, so then she said she didn't know the next 3, even though the last one was "ball". He asked her 3 times what a ball was before she would tell him. So I wouldn't sweat the stuff she supposedly doesn't know. You know she's a great kid!
G started swim lessons last night. She seems bored in the class after having had "swimming" (playing in the pool with life jackets on) in daycare weekly for the last 1.5 years, but she's still unwilling to put her head in the water so she has to be in the new beginner class. I was happy she told me after that it was fun.
Speaking of rings, did everyone's get too tight during pregnancy? Trying to decide if mine being too tight now is due to weight gain or swelling. They got too small with Max and then I had them resized after I had Theo. Now they're too tight again
I never had any swelling and was able to wear mine until the end with both. But I would take them off at the first sign of tightness because I'm terrified of having to get them cut.
This for X. I took mine off for the last 2 weeks with G, then was able to put them back on pretty much right away.
I love annual flowers and they're cheap and colorful. I used to have some each year I had my vegetable garden since all the color made me happy.
African daisies, salvia, geraniums, lantana, and marigolds are some of my favorites. Dragon flowers are really fun for kids (you can pick a flower and make the "mouth" open and close). Alyssum and gazanias are pretty too. I really like cutting zinnias to have inside the house but mine always grew really long stems, so wouldn't be great for planters I don't think. These were all for my Boston-area garden...I haven't gardened since moving to Seattle.
I started growing annuals by going to Home Depot and buying the full-sun flowers I thought were the prettiest. Then the next year I branched out to a real garden store and bought some of my favorites again, and some new ones to try.
I would get some Miracle Grow potting soil to top off your planters. They should sell a big bag of it at your garden store.
Mine both reverse-cycled and only took 12 oz during the day, then nursed all night long. It made less pumping stress for me but we were all sleep deprived for months and months.
