On our way to the Children's Hospital for G's second food challenge appointment. We think Thursday was the placebo so we expect today to be peanut. I've been worrying about this appointment since Thursday afternoon, hoping it's not too hard on her
I've been thinking about you both all morning! So many hugs and prayers. She's going to be just fine! Was it the pink "goop"?
It's definitely goop, but it's peanut butter colored. Smells horrible, like fake cherry medicine flavoring, Blech!
She's done ok eating it but it took 2 attempts to get the iv in first, with crying, screaming, and shaking in fear. I thought she was going to quit right then but she hung in there.

I don't know that it's microwave safe but definitely dishwasher safe. We have a set of plastic outdoor plates we got at Target a few years ago. We use them as toddler plates and for the deck.
Well everything is still alive! That's good for me lol. My beans and spinach started sprouting so some of that is alive too! The strawberry plant has tiny strawberries.
How often do most gardens need water/rain? Daily?
Seedlings need daily water but established plants can usually manage with water every 2-3+ days. It also depends on how hot it is. I always used to check the soil and my plants themselves. If they looked slightly wilty then they definitely needed water.
We use sponges and dish towels in the kitchen. I try to change the towels every other day, though more often if there are a lot of big messes. We throw our sponges in the dishwasher. I tried having a towel hamper in the kitchen, but we all just threw the dirty ones on the floor anyway so I gave up. I bring them to the laundry when I go upstairs for bed.
I do keep around paper towels for grease. DH fries things a lot and makes a lot of bacon so we use paper for those messes.
carawestt, DH got the kids 2 hot wheels track builder sets from WalMart (X is in love with his hot wheels cars). They played with them for HOURS yesterday. They were more expensive than I was expecting ($20 each) but provided a lot of entertainment. I know you were looking for ideas to keep L calm and occupied.
DH has done soooo much spring cleaning this weekend. He's finally getting rid of the hundreds of random DVDs he used to collect when we first met, plus we've gone through boxes and boxes of old papers to recycle. It feels so freeing to be sending so much stuff to Goodwill and for recycling. I can't wait to someday have a house not filled to the brim with junk!
I got both kids to sleep in G's room tonight by 8pm! We're working on kicking X out of our bed and into his sister's room. It was glorious reading a real book with the lights on for 45 minutes until he woke up and came into my bed. Baby steps?
The first chapter books we read to G were the My Father's Dragon trilogy. She's actually heard them at least 3 times since DH, me, and my mom all got sucked in ourselves and read her the whole thing. Highly recommend!
We also have done Charlotte's Web, Amelia Bedelia, and multiple Jenny Linsky and the Cat Club books.
Mr. Popper's Penguins and Dr. Doolittle are on our short list to read soon, along with many mentioned above.
We're trying to enroll G in a trial for peanut allergic children to gradually desensitize them to peanuts through wearing a skin patch containing peanut protein. Part of the enrollment process is "proving" their allergy by giving the child a food challenge and having them react to the doses containing peanut, but not react to the placebo doses. We were at Seattle Children's yesterday for day 1 which we assume was placebo. We go back Monday for the doses most likely containing peanut. Some of the other children in the study have needed multiple doses of EpiPen to halt their reactions to the peanuts. I know it's for her long-term benefit, but it's sooo hard to potentially be poisoning your child.
X is picking up new words and phrases all over the place. He told DH yesterday "I got it" when DH was trying to help him go down the stairs. He also started the night sleeping in G's room for the first time ever. We're hoping to move him there so we can have our room back before baby comes.
This is such a hard call. I'm a paranoid pregnant too so I definitely get it. On the one hand, there are tons of women (like your sister) who are pregnant right now in FL and throughout areas where Zika has already shown up in mosquitoes. On the other hand, it's different if it's you.
I like your plan of trying to get through 1st tri in low-mosquito season, but also you'll probably feel gross for most of 1st tri so you might not mind hiding inside no matter what the season. I finally don't have all-day nausea now that I've hit 2nd tri (it's been gone for about a week now) but now I'm hitting major food aversions, especially in the evening. And FWIW, we got Panorama results back at 12+ weeks, so not too much before I would've started telling people anyway.
