That doesn't make sense to me. The tuition we have paid has always corresponded with the classroom that they are assigned to. The changes in tuition are directly related to the change in ratios as they get older and there are more kids per teacher. Are the ratios the same in the toddler and pre-school rooms?
We're going to train my twins this weekend they will be 3 in November. DS pees consistently on the potty at daycare and DD never pees on the potty so it will be interesting to see how it goes as they seem to be on either end of the spectrum.
Good luck preppy & linz this weekend! Sounds like we need to have a check in post this weekend!
Twin toddlers in full time daycare is 35%. It will go down to around 30% next month when they switch to the preschool room. We are HCOL, Boston suburbs.
We took the front off my twins cribs in May and it has been a rough transition. They have done everything I can think of to avoid sleep - emptied out the dresser, got into diaper cream, pulled curtains and hardware off the wall and even tipped over a crib. It has gotten better with time but has been rough.
linz, I was happy we started with just taking the fronts off the cribs first instead of going directly to beds as I can't imagine the craziness with actual twin beds involved.
I placed an order last Friday and still haven't gotten a shipping notification for it yet. Do they usually take so long to ship things? I emailed them but they said it might take 3-5 days to respond.
I was thinking about training my twins this weekend but think I'm going to wait until Labor Day weekend instead. They have peed on the potty really infrequently thus far so I don't think they are ready quite yet.
linz I think my twins are like a month younger to yours and at a pretty similar stage. I'm planning to try the 3 day method over the 4 th of July weekend as I will have them home for 4 days. I am going into it knowing that one or both might not get it, in which case we will try again at another time.
I'm still in transition from crib to toddler bed hell. New this weekend my kids figured out how to take off their pjs and diapers (pjs were on backwards) and knocked over their toddler bed/crib with front taken off.
So, my 18-month old has started surprising me in the morning by playing with his poopy diaper and smearing some of the contents on his crib/crib sheets. This, of course, is disgusting and makes our mornings that much more chaotic. I think this has been happening for about a month, maybe once a week or so. Anything I can do to get him to stop?!
I put my kids in the zip up HA pjs backwards so they can't get them off and get to their diapers.
We got these orbit labels which have been really nice to continue to use when we switched over from bottles to sippy cups/water bottles. www.inchbug.com/collections/orbit-labels
We are still in cribs so I can't comment on that part. But we got the Ok to Wake clock in January, so my kids were pretty close to where your kids are now, and it took a few weeks but they definitely got the point of the clock. It doesn't always keep them quiet if they're awake early but it does help.
I was going to suggest the ok to wake clock, too. I thought G would GNF about it, but he does! We made a big deal about it when it came and each "practiced" what to do for about 15 mins the first night we put it in his room, which he thought was hilarious (you can press a one of the feet to have it light up like it does when it's ok to wake).
If they need extra motivation, I wouldn't be above bribing with stickers or a small toy if they stay in their beds.
Do their beds have the toddler guard rails? If not, I would consider the kind of you can add on. Though they may see that as add'l thing to play with, lol.
Thanks, I might try it and at least see what they do. As far as guard rails, they don't really have them. It's the IKEA gulliver crib that just has an extra low rail that goes across the front. I was thinking about trying to add a rail to see if that helps. But I am a bit nervous they'll just pull it out as last night they were trying to pick up their mattresses 😂
This isn't what you want to read, but I'm just going to pass you a bottle of wine now and say god speed.
In all seriousness, it has been a rough transition for us and my kids who used to nap for 2-3 hours daily pre-transition now only nap 3 days a week. They are safe and secure in their room but I can't tell you how many times they've emptied their dresser and just generally chased each other around the room playing. But then other times they're so tired that they mostly just go to sleep.
Night time has been easier now that we've pushed bedtime back a bit and figured out a routine that works for them (bath, PJs, a little play and 2 books each). We have a groclock but even if they did understand it, I can promise my kids wouldn't care. It is much more effective at keeping DD1 in her room, so that is where it stays.
Wishing you a smoother transition than we've had!
Thank you, this sounds exactly like my two. They pretty much just run around tearing the room apart for an hour until they crash. I'm wondering if it's even worth it to put drawer locks on the dresser. All the contents of the dresser are currently in laundry baskets outside their room. 😂
Thanks for the advice it's been rough going but is getting better each night. They've emptied the dresser, jumped off their cribs, woken each other up, etc. I don't think they would get the ok to wake clock yet. But they are safe and secure in their room for now.
I have boy girl twins who are 2.5 and share a room and are pretty good sleepers. However they've started to climb out of the cribs so we took off the front of the cribs last night. We've cleared as much stuff out of the room as possible and have a door knob cover on the door so they can't get out. It took my daughter 2 hours to fall asleep and my son 3 hours. They threw everything from there beds (blankets, stuffed animals, Loveys) everywhere and were playing with the curtains.
We kept going back in and putting them back in bed but they got so wound up playing it took forever to fall asleep. Any words of wisdom or ideas? Or do we just keep on doing what we're doing? We're all exhausted this morning and I'm not looking forward to nap time today.
Our cleaning ladies used to use a service/ app called Popmoney, they've since moved on to Venmo. It was pretty similar to paypal. There were no fees, it just transferred $ between checking accounts.
I agree with the others, I wouldn't get into the specifics about the VP, as tempting as it would be, I would stay vague. If asked I would just say a great opportunity came your way and is a shorter commute. I think most people in this area wouldn't be surprised about wanting a shorter commute, especially with young kids.
I have/had a number of twin strollers - city mini GT, maclaren, contours and joovy twin roo when they were still in the bucket seats. I would probably use either the joovy twin roo or snap n go if they're still in the infant car seats or the maclaren.
Natives are a great idea. I can use those fir daycare and use her salt waters for weekends when we do t need closed toe. I will try those for S and the robeez sandals on P.
Thank you!!
Natives also has a new mary jane style that is pretty cute:
When I can't get anytime to myself I go " grocery" shopping. To the fancy grocery store with the babysitting. First I get sushi & a smoothie from the eat in section & sit in the fancy cafe & play on my phone. Then I run around the store like supermarket sweep to maximize my time & fill up my cart & check out THEN I get a cookie & a coffee & dick around on my phone until my free child care is up.
Wait, where is there a grocery store with babysitting?!? I need to check this out. Pm me, I think I live right near you.
My son has Vesicoureteral reflux which caused the hydronephrosis, which meant the urine backs up into his kidneys. It was discovered during ultrasounds while I was pregnant, and then we were referred to a pediatric urologist after my son was born. I'm told it is much more frequent in boys The urologist did an ultrasound of his kidneys and then a VCUG, which is where they do imaging with a catheter with fluid with contrast to see where the fluid goes, which is what confirmed the condition. DS was put on antibiotics prophylactically to protect from UTIs. We were told to be on the look out for any fevers without other symptoms as they might be a symptom of a UTI.
He is now 2.5 and has been off the antibiotics since he was 1 and is monitored yearly for this. The plan is to check again at 3 and if it is still there they will proceed with surgery.
DS has never had a UTI, and I was told that as a boy who is also circumcised his chances of getting a UTI are really low.
