Mine are 7 now but the phase when they were out of cribs was a nightmare. We pulled everything out that we could and heavily childproofed everything left in there - drawer locks, closet looked, dresser attached to wall, etc. us coming in and out would only amp them up more so we either would just go in and silently put them back in bed or would separate them until they fell asleep. Good luck, this phase def passed eventually!
One of my kindergartners has ADHD and ASD which was just diagnosed this year so I’ve been in her shoes.
We ended up requesting an evaluation from the school district to determine if he qualifies for services which he did. We also saw our pedi who did a 10 question eval to diagnose for ADHD. In addition to the pedi we also did a neuropsych evaluation with a psychologist which confirmed the adhd diagnosis and added the asd diagnosis.
He qualifies for an IEP which provides him with support. In school now he has a special Ed teacher assigned to him. He has a visual calendar on his desk to help stay on task and know what’s next, he gets fidget toys that he’s allowed to play with during certain times which helps him to sit in place. He gets movement breaks, and also earns additional breaks with good behavior. He also will get help from an aid or the sped teacher for longer tasks that require a lot of concentration.
He has had a great school year thus far with these supports in place.
Yes. My twins are in kindergarten in a public school. For any positive cases the superintendent has sent an email out to all families in the district letting us know which school was affected. The principal of that specific school also emails all the families at their school.
My twins are entering kindergarten this fall and we’re in MA too. Our town is in the green zone now and they are doing a hybrid model. For Kindergarten that will be 2 cohorts either AM or PM 5 days a week. Other option was a virtual academy or home schooling.
My son is on an IEP and was in the town preschool last year and virtual learning did not work at all for him. For him it is much more effective to do in person learning. My H was laid off so is able to cover the off times with them while I’m working.
A blogger I follow is doing 6 weeks in Nice, France with her daughter which looks amazing, and she keeps saying it’s family friendly. Her name is capecodmama, I’ve been following her on IG.
My kids are wearing the same dress and shirt at vtdiamond - needs pants for DS and shoes for both of them.
I ordered the rose gold bunny shoes from gap for DD. They only go up to an 11 in toddler sizes though. And I’m going to order some new boat shoes for DS.
Saturdays I usually go to a Zumba class at 8am, then rush home and get showered/changed then take DD to ballet class. After ballet I meet up with DH and DS for swim lessons. After swim lessons I usually go grocery shopping. Then we're usually home for the rest of the afternoon or at a birthday party.
Sunday we all go to the Y where DD and DS go to the kid care room and DH and I work out. Then Sunday afternoon we do a lot of meal prep to get ready for the week ahead.
It was pretty quick for us. Both kids got very sleepy and took a nap which they rarely do, then woke up with fevers around 102/103 and started coughing a lot.
My daughter's ballet studio is pretty relaxed with attire and just makes you buy their shoes if your kid is in the recital. Most of the girls wear either pink or black leotards with pink tights. I've gotten most everything from Amazon. Here's the links for what we have:
I'd probably do it all together and just say that now that she's in a big girl bed the chair doesn't fit so mommy and daddy won't be able to sit in there with her any more.
It might also be time to stop napping so that she has an easier time falling asleep at night. My twins turned 4 in November and still nap at daycare, but no naps at home on weekends so that they go to sleep at night. More and more of their day care classmates are skipping nap time at school now due to issues falling asleep at night.
I’ve done a girls weekend in Newport during the winter, it was great.
We stayed at the Viking but Gurneys would be great as well, both have spas! There are lots of stores to check out or could do a mansion tour. We spent most of the time in the spa. Favorite restaurants are: the mooring, Clark Cooke house and Bowen 51.
Ours isnt closed that often - NYD, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day for staff development, thanksgiving and the day after, and Xmas day.
They’re closing early on Xmas eve and NYE but gave us a months notice about that.
I'm thinking about making homemade Cinnamon Rolls for Christmas morning this year. I will probably use the Pioneer Woman's recipe as I've heard it recommended a few times. They don't look too difficult to make, just need time to let them rise. I'm hoping to make them in advance and then just pop them in the oven or reheat them on Christmas Morning.
This. Her recipe is super easy. Rolls just take a while to make because of rising time but aren’t difficult. . You can also buy frosting if you don’t want to make it. We don’t love her frosting and usually search for a Cinnabon replica recipes instead.
Thanks, good to hear! I was also thinking of making a different icing as I didn’t think my kids would be fans of the coffee in PWs.

Both my twins had them about 3.5 years ago. They both adjusted to them pretty quickly and had no issues with them. You’re lucky to be doing it during the colder months. The rules of thumb were to take them off and leave them off if the kids got a fever. They also could only be cleaned with alcohol so we used alcohol wipes, but they got pretty stinky.
My daughter was only in hers for 2-3 months and had a significant improvement. DS wore his for 6 months and still has a slant on the back of his head 🤷♀️
My son has vesicouretheral reflux which causes his hydronephrosis. His is grade 3-4, at his last appointment they had said it improved a little bit. But they had no instructions for us as far as potty training and MOTN wake ups.
I think I'm going to order from Minted, but hate how expensive they are, but love the idea of them addressing the envelopes for me. I wish they had a better coupon then 25% off.
S is getting I microphone/karaoke type thing since she loves singing and music, a bitty baby, a doll stroller and a doll car seat to share with P. She also is getting hunter boots, ooly paint sticks and some books. My in laws are also getting her a scooter. Other things she loves right now are duplos, our mini trampoline, her balance bike and magnatiles.
preppy - which karaoke microphone are you getting for S? I’ve been thinking of getting one for DD she loves to sing.
My son got the Magic Track set for his birthday this weekend and has been obsessed with it. I'm planning to buy some more cars/tracks/tunnels/ etc for him for Christmas!
