Both. Go to Italy in October, start TTC in December - there are no guarantees you will get pg in December. It could take months upon months to actually get pregnant.
She said that it would extend their TTC timeline, financially speaking.
Go to Italy. It's gorgeous and it would be a nightmare to travel there with young a young child, IMO. It's expensive and they wouldn't appreciate it. If you PM me, I'll give you some good food suggestions for Rome (I spent a summer there.)
We went on a big pre-TTC trip this fall to SE Asia...and then decided we aren't quite ready to start trying after all, ha. Anyway, I'm also a bit concerned about an early 2015 trip to Hawaii and whether we might be very pregnant or have a very young baby, but we are just going to be laid back about it. Making the decision to TTC is stressful enough; trying to plan and time things down to the minute just adds even more anxiety. If you can be a bit flexible with your schedule, you could possibly do both.

My husband and I are in a very similar situation. We decided to hold off TTC until/starting on our vacation to Turks & Caicos next month. We wanted one last romantic trip to enjoy as a couple. That being said we only pushed TTC back a few months I don't think I would hold off more than that. Good luck with your decision!
It would delay our TTC financial goals (topping up our Efund mostly and moving to a different apartment). Essentially, we'd have to wait about 5 months to pay for the trip. Does that make sense?
I'm the last person you should take financial advice from, but honestly? At 30, you shouldn't delay TTC to strive for the "perfect" financial circumstance. You don't know how long its going to take to conceive, nor is there ever really enough money for kids. Something to consider.
I am preggo with # 2 and we are having to delay a trip to China next summer. Obviously I'm excited about the kid and the timing is good for us but if I were you I would take the trip first and have a baby later.

Go to italy, then TTC while in Italy, or afterwards, NOT before. As for all your other friends that have babies (aside from the fact that their kid-status shouldn't matter/impact your TTC timeline anyways)- you may think you're the last on board the baby train, and it is time to get with the program. But really, they're going to be completely jealous of your kid-free trip to Italy. Trust.
i second not waiting until financial perfection to ttc. you never know how long stuff could take and people come out of the wordwork to give you stuff when you have a baby.
I second this. You just might up with surprise twins when you planned financially for one. Not that I would know or anything Unless a baby would have you really struggling in which case waiting is smart.
You are young enough to wait on TTC, but I don't think going with a child is that bad.
I agree. Traveling without kids was easier, but I took my baby to Hong Kong when she was 10 weeks old and it really wasn't that big of a deal. If you don't mind NIP and have a good carrier it is pretty much business as usual. I plan to travel as much as possible before she turns 2 and we have to start buying her her own ticket.

Didn't read all the responses, but I can somewhat relate. I'm just over 30- almost EVERYONE (friends, family, etc.) has kids by now. We're still 2-3 years off (pretty sure also just 1 kid), haven't been to Europe yet, & plan to hit it up (for sure once, maybe twice, depending on length/ how things work/ etc.) before getting knocked up. Europe has been on my before-kids-must-do list for a decade or so for the reasons of the 1st couple of responses I read. For sure you know my vote!
Yeah, be careful. You might want to check yourself if you're considering delaying TTC so you can have fun on a trip.
We have several wedding to attend this coming year, but the first is in Grand Cayman. I really want to be able to dive and being at the beach while pregnant sounds no fun to me. We were going to start TTC in February, but are going to wait and start trying during that wedding weekend. I want to have a good time on this trip.
